"I severely doubt that," she said, looking down. Her hair tumbled into her face and she made no move to brush it away.
"I severely doubt that," she said, looking down. Her hair tumbled into her face and she made no move to brush it away.
Raeden brushed her hair away to see her face. "Yes you are. You're amazing, Aza. I love you."
Aza simply sighed and leaned into Raeden's shoulder.
Raeden smiled and kissed her head. He just stayed there.
Aza made a frustrated sound and curled in on herself. "Do you have Oreos?"
"There's no way in hell we don't," Raeden declared. "But you gotta move so I can get them. Is it worth it to you?"
"The-um-the monsters are coming back," she said raggedly but scooted off Raeden's lap and pulled her knees up to her chest.
"Oh shit. You want oreos? I'll get you the damn oreos if those'll help you." Raeden draped a blanked over Aza and dashed to the cupboard. He grabbed a family-sized pack of double stuffed and ran them over. "Here you go."
"The monsters don't like-don't…the chocolate," she said and gingerly took one, pinching it between her index finger and her thumb, giggling when it slipped out of her grasp. Picking it back up, she nibbled on the edge.
"Okay. Eat the chocolate, and then the monsters won't be so scary. Right? The chocolate is their weakness." Raeden took note of this. The chocolate is their weakness.
"Halfway," she replied cryptically and kept eating the Oreo. "They do like hot sauce. So do I."
"Okay. No hot sauce, yes chocolate. I think that makes sense. I'll have to write that down." Raeden grabbed his phone and opened the Notes app. When dealing with monsters, they hate chocolate. Hot sauce is their favorite, don't give them that.
"Hot sauce is good. Also ice cream," Aza said, nodding. She looked up, smiling slightly. "Do you like ice cream?"
"Yeah, I like ice cream. So that's good for them? They like it? Or do they not like it."
"I like it. The monsters like to be cold."
"Okay. What else do the monsters not like?"
Something in Aza's demeanor changed. Her eyes shone, cold and calculating. "Oh, Aza chose a good one, didn't she?" Aza purred.
"What the hell?!?' Raeden exclaimed. "Who the hell are you and what have you done with Aza?"
Aza grinned. "Oh, Aza's just my…host, I guess you could call it." She stuck out her hand and raised an eyebrow. "I'm Lorelei."
Raeden had to process this for a minute. "Please, Lorelei, tell me Aza's okay? Because I'm slightly in love with her, and, uh, I don't wanna lose her."
"Oh, Aza's just fine. I'm one of her…what does she call them? Monsters, is it?" Aza-Lorelei tapped her chin.
"What the hell?!" Raeden exclaimed. "You torment her! Why do you hurt such a wonderful person?"
Lorelei grinned. "How do you know she isn't her own monster?"
Raeden paused. "I think we're all our own monsters. You just make it worse."
"I don't make anything worse. I'm Aza's more spontaneous half. Yin and Yang. A double-sided knife, if you will." Lorelei explained.
