Jade lowered her head a little as her ears started burning but followed his gaze towards Alex.
Jade lowered her head a little as her ears started burning but followed his gaze towards Alex.
Alex was playing on one of the games, not paying attention to them.
Jade let out a soft breath that she had only embarrassed herself in front of one person… Though she wouldn't be surprised if Max told his partner what she said. She shook her head a little to clear it and smiled politely.
Max was quiet, looking around the arcade.
“How long have you both been coming here?” Jade asked, changing the topic away from Killian and herself.
"Uhm…a while. I don't know exactly. Since we were dating." He said.
She nodded with a soft smile at the answer. “That’s very sweet.”
"Yeah. It's kind of…we come here and hang out, have fun." He smiled again.
Jade nodded again. “I can see why. This is a nice place… And you two have a history here.”
"Yeah, exactly." Max said.
Jade nodded and turned to a nearby game. “I’ve probably already said this but thank you, again, for sharing this place with me.” she said as she put a couple of tokens in the machine.
Max smiled. "Yeah, of course." He said softly. "I'm glad you're having fun."
“I am. Really.” she smiled at him. “Hey… Can I ask you something? Something kinda personal?”
He looked over at her. "Mm…yeah, you can." He said slowly.
"How or when did you know… you were in love with Alex?" she asked softly, her face a bright shade of pink.
Max blinked. "Oh. Uhm…" He hesitated, thinking for a long moment. "I'm not sure that I can…name a specific time. I just…I just knew, I guess."
Jade nodded, understanding that. “Was it easy to know?” she asked.
"Mm…yes and no. I questioned it for a long time, because I wasn't sure, but…I don't know." He laughed faintly. "Sorry."
"No, it's ok." she assured him. "It's just… I was just wondering. Sorry if I was interrogating you." she apologized as her character lost a heart in the game she was playing.
"It's fine, don't worry about it." He said with a smile.
Jade smiled softly at his assurance, though she did feel a little embarrassed that she might have said a little too much about her… situation.
He looked over at Alex quietly, smiling faintly.
Jade glanced over and smiled a little more when she saw the look Max was giving his partner.
It seemed Max had forgotten, for a moment, that she was there, because he was just taking some time to watch the man he has married. There was a soft look in the lawyer's eyes and a little smile on his face, before he seemed to remember she was there and shook himself, blinking and glancing over at her again.
Jade smiled knowingly at him. “Go on. I'll be fine.” she said, gesturing for him to join Alex. “You two are really lucky to have each other.”
