Oscar swallowed the bite with difficulty. "It still burns!" He grabbed the lemonade and took a large swig, although it was unclear whether the drink really helped. "It's….good, though. I think I like it. do you like your food Honor?"

@gracehustle

Honor nodded as she tried to stop her light laughing, watching Oscar to make sure he was alright with the spice, "I like food, it's really good. Do you like the spice in yours?" She still had about half of her food left to eat, but it was quickly diminishing as she ate more. This was the first big meal she had been able to get in quite a while after all.

(I have to work today but have this)
Oscar tried another bite. "…Yeah, I like how interesting it tastes. It's not like meat or eggs or candy or anything else." After a moment, he went back to his coloring book, looking for an untouched page. "I'm going to draw what spicy looks like. I'll show you in a second."

@gracehustle

(Ok!)
Once again she nodded, watching as he searched for a page before turning her attention back to her food. "Don't forget to eat the rest of your food though," She reminded him, smiling over at her friend. Seeing someone draw out what spice looks like was something she had never seen done before, but from Oscar's other artwork, she guessed it would be amazing.

"I won't forget," he promised, digging around for the right colored crayons. Eventually he decided on neon yellow, vermillion, and black. He found a coloring page with a fish on it and got to work, first coloring almost the entire page yellow before going in with the darker colors to add detail. Once in a while he took another bite of food to remind himself of the taste.
"What do you think spicy stuff looks like?" he asked as he worked.

@gracehustle

Honor watched him work in silence, her mind occupied more by the surroundings and just relaxing for the first time in days than talking. "Hm?" She replied, blinking and focusing back on Oscar as she thought over his question, "I think it's very bright; reds, yellows, oranges, and its more of a pattern than a picture, with lots of very complex and sharp lines. What do you think it's like?" There was no question that it was one of the weirdest questions she had been asked, but it made her think about something, and for that she was glad.

"That's what I think too," Oscar said excitedly. He quickly added more black in abstract curves throughout the drawing, then put it all together with the vermilion. By the time he was done the drawing vaguely resembled a pattern of chaotic yellow soap bubbles with streaks of orange, red and umber, lined by gritty black edges that somehow looked exactly like they were made of ground pepper. He dotted a bit more black across the picture, then held it up for Honor to see. "It kind of burns too, so that's why I put in the black to look like burn marks. I guess." He didn't really think about his creative process, he just went with whatever felt right. "Now I'm going to eat the rest of my food."

@gracehustle

"That looks amazing," She said, her eyes widening in amazement as she studied the picture. It was an exact replica of what she thought spicy things tasted like, and she was more than just impressed with his skills, "We should really get your art to start selling, this is amazing." Honor smiled, pushing her empty plate towards the middle of the booth and studying his picture closer.

Oscar smiled proudly. "I think that would be cool." He finished his own meal, and although he still wished there was more to eat, he felt much more full than usual and freshly energized. "Okay, I guess I'm ready to go now if you are. We should go to a restaurant again soon, it was fun."

@gracehustle

Honor nodded, looking around for their waitress so she could pay before they left, "If we get the chance to stop at another restaurant, we definitely can. Especially if you're going to head back to wherever you came from with that level five. You don't want to miss any of the food here." She smiled at him, leaning back in the booth and waiting patiently.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"Yeah," Oscar agreed. "I want to go home but I also want to experience a lot more things before then."
Soon enough, the waitress returned to check on them. "All right, looks like you two enjoyed your meal. Is there anything else I can get for you today?"

@gracehustle

"I don't think so, do you happen to know where the nearest library is though?" Honor asked, pulling out her wallet and smiling at her, "We're ready for the bill now too." She hoped there was somewhere nearby that they could stop by quickly before going to the store. After all, if Oscar wanted to sell his art the sooner they could get doing that the better.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

The waitress obligingly took the bill from her apron pocket and handed it over. "A library, hmm? Yes, if you go to the end of this street and take a left down the road lined with trees, there's a library immediately to your right. It's a cute little place, I think you'll like it. Anything else I can do for you guys?"
Oscar hesitated, then picked up his coloring book and tore out his drawing of spiciness. "Here, I want you to have this. I drew it after tasting the food, which was really good."
The waitress blinked in surprise. "For me? Really?" She beamed, accepting the drawing and admiring it. "Thank-you! You're a great artist, sir. I'll take good care of this drawing, don't worry." She turned her sunny smile to Honor as well, looking delighted as she carefully tucked away the art. "I hope that both of you have a great day!"

@gracehustle

(CRAP I'M SO SORRY I thought I responded already but it didn't go through >_<)
Honor glanced at the bill and pulled out the amount needed, as well as enough for a generous tip before handing it back, smiling at her. "Thank you so much, the food was amazing." She was surprised to see that Oscar had given the waitress his picture but as the thought about it she was happy he had given it to her. If Oscar made it big than that picture was worth more than any tip she would be able to give.

(It's okay XD)
The waitress nodded brightly. "I'm glad you enjoyed your meal. Come again!"
Oscar waved to her on the way out, carefully putting the coloring book in his pocket for later. "Okay, I'm ready to go to the library now. And then the grocery store, right?"

@gracehustle

"Yep, library first, then to whatever store they have here so we can get food and you can get some art supplies." She nodded, leading the way out of the restaurant and holding the door for Oscar without a second thought, "Then once we get all that done, it's back on the road towards our destination."

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

(guess who almost deleted the whole thread by accident O.o)
"Okay, that works for me." Oscar walked to the car and paused by the driver's side, glancing back at Honor. "Is it okay if I drive for a while? I don't have much practice in towns."

@gracehustle

Honor nodded slowly, digging the keys out of her pocket and holding them out to him, "Just for a little while. I'll warn you now you have to watch out a little more in towns, for other cars and such, just be careful." She gave him a tiny encouraging smile before going around to the passenger's side, getting in and buckling within a few seconds.

@gracehustle

“Left on the tree lined street and it’s on the right. I think.” Honor tried to think back to what the waitress had said, shrugging, “I’m sure it’s not hard to find.” She settled into the seat, a soft smile on her face, “Ready when you are.”

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

"Okay." Oscar started the engine and carefully backed into the road, then set off towards the end of it. Soon enough he saw the correct turn and took it, then almost immediately spotted the tiny library and pulled up in front of it. "Wow, it wasn't far at all." He parked and turned off the truck, eyeing the building dubiously. "It's pretty small….do you think they'll even have what we need?"

@gracehustle

(Sorry for disappearing! I was gone for the Fourth with friends but I'm here now!)
She nodded, watching the road and spotting the library the same time he did. "I think they'll have what we need. As long as they have a computer I think we should be able to figure things out." Honor unbuckled and hopped out of the truck as soon as Oscar shut it off, glancing up at the tiny building with a look of hope on her face.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

(It's all right, I had to work over the weekend so I wasn't on much either ^^; I hope you had a nice time with your friends!)
Oscar followed her into the library, carefully looking around the shady, air-conditioned foyer. The library was what you might call "homey"–there were only two rooms, one for kids' books and one for adults, and the carpet muted every footstep until the only sound was the rush of air through the vents. Aside from one man sitting and reading by the window, the only people present were the two old ladies puttering around behind the front desk.
Oscar scanned the room for a computer, finally spotting two on a desk against the far wall. "Oh good," he whispered, pointing them out to Honor. "Let's go see what we can find before I start checking out all these books."

@gracehustle

Honor nodded, taking note of the few people that were around before following Oscar to the computers. "If you want I can check things out on the computers and you could read," She offered as she sat down at one of the desks. His love of reading wasn't something she wanted to interfere with, and she could easily pull together some stuff for his artwork on her own.

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

Oscar brightened at her suggestion. "Really? Okay! Let me know if you find anything important." When it came to reading, he didn't need telling twice. He'd probably encountered many of these books already in other libraries, but there was always the chance he'd find a few that were no longer in print anywhere else, or perhaps locally published. He started at one end of the shelves and began, not even bothering to sit down while he explored the books.
(I gotta go to bed but I'll drop this anyway)
