(Sorry I haven't responded, I've been pretty busy and I will be for the rest of the week.)
She slowly took the rolling pin with a smile. "Oh, I guess I didn't notice it!" She giggles a little while stepping back onto the stool. After a few minutes, the dough was done being rolled. "Okay! The dough is ready!"
(It's totally fine! Everyone has different lives here!)
He couldn't really distract himself from how adorable she was. Snapping back to reality, he takes the pan, stepping over to her.
"Okay, we'll be fancy."
He said cutting nine strips of dough, braiding three to each other, then three more, then three more.
"I'm gonna put this over the apples once we out the dough and the apples in."
He says laying them aside, and reaching fir the bowl of apples while she puts the rest of the dough into the pan. He loved making little designs like that on top of pies.
(oof sorry, I was traveling)
"Oooo! That's going to be really cool! Whenever I've made pie it's we've only done lattice." She carefully put the rolled out dough into the pie tin and cut off the extra dough.
She was very excited for this pie, she hadn't had pie for more than 12 years. She, of course, didn't have any while she was a statue and that lasted 11 years. But before she was frozen, her grandma died and her mom didn't really bake pies with Penelope.
She smiled while watching Elijah pour the apples into the pie tin. To her, it was still strange to be the same height as him because of the stool. She could get lost in his beautiful blue eyes without straining her neck. She could look at his handsome face without worrying that he can only see her chin and neck. And she would be tall enough to put her arms over his onto his neck in a hug.
She had been lost in thought while staring into his eyes and face while he was pouring in the apples. She still didn't fully realize what she was doing.
After pouring the apples in with a little smile, he looks back at her, noticing she was staring.
"You like my face?"
He says with a laugh as he looks back down giving her every now and then side-glances while he would place the braided dough into cross cross patterns.
She quickly snaps out of it with a shy smile. "I uh…" She starts looking all around the room, with a bit of pink filling her cheeks, trying to play it off like she was studying the room. "The pie looks really good! I'm really excited!"
All he could think about was how cute she was. She was absolutely adorable, this girl that he met while trying to take a picture with a statue…who IS the statue, is now his soulmate, and they're now making a pie together.
"Yeah? I'm glad you think it looks good, i messed up a few times on the braids."
He says cutting off the extra pieces of dough before he puts it in the oven. Preheating it, they had to wait about 5 minutes before they put the pie in.
"Do you have pie crust covers? To put over the edges of the pie crust so they don't burn?" Before she stepped down from the stool, she looked around, mostly in front of her so that there wouldn't be a repeat of before.
"Uh yeah….over here."
He says pointing over to the corner on the counter. (Idk what pie crust covers are sooooo)
(Lol I'm kinda a baker so I know what they are and they are important.)
"Okay, thanks!" She hops off the stool and moves it to the corner where the covers are. She grabs them and moves back to where the pie is. She positioned them on top of the crust edges. After 5 minutes, Penelope opened the oven and put in the pie. She then set a timer so they know when to take the pie out. "So, what should we do while we wait for the pie?"
"Well….you said you were gonna take a nap… You can use my bed if you want."
He says checking if the ovens on. Even though he knew it was, he was just a little fidgety right now.
"Honestly, I'm not really tired. Is there something you like to do? We could do that maybe. I really don't know what I would like to do since I was a statue and I doubt I have the same interests as before." Since she had stepped down from the stool she had to look up to see Elijah's face. She looked up at him and sent him a smile.
That cute little smile warmed his heart up, then snapping out of it, he looked out if the kitchen window. Turning to wash his hands,
"Well….first i would like to figure out where you're staying from now on. You're welcome to stay with me, but if you're not comfortable we can always find a place for you to stay. I have a friend you can stay at, she's a girl, again, just in case your uncomfortable."
He says repeating words and phrases, then cringing at himself two seconds after.
"I… would stay with family, if they were here…" Her face, showing a bit of sadness, drops the smile. "But I would like to meet your friend, then I can decide from there, I guess." She liked how concerned he was for her comfort and wellbeing. It made her feel very welcome after not having any human contact for many years.
"Oh, okay, well do you wanna try and find your family first?"
He asks her while drying his hands with a pastel pink towel.
"I… I can't…" She looks down at her hands which are now fidgeting.
"What? Why not? I can help you any way you need it."
He says putting a hand on her shoulder
She feels his hand on her shoulder and looks to it, then back at her hands. "They are… unavailable… Um I really don't want to tell you my back story right now…" A tear or two ran down her cheek and she quickly wiped them. "Maybe later…" She said in a very quiet voice.
"What?! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to- please don my cry, you don't have to tell me anything! Um, let's just, take you to Harleys. She's has a good house, you can stay with her for a while!"
He says frantically, and backing away from the girl, walking to the door.
"No no, it's okay, you didn't know." She slowly followed Elijah to the door. Penelope honestly wasn't very sure about staying with Elijah's friend, but she was going to give Harley a chance.
Hopping in the car after holding the door open tor her to get it and starting it.
"Again, if you don't like her or feel comfortable, you can always stay at my place….if course unless you don't feel comfortable here either."
He says while driving down the town.
"Yeah, thanks." She was staring out the car window as the buildings and people went by at speeds she wasn't used to. She found it very cool. "Town is really pretty, I like this style of architecture." Her eyes almost had a sparkle while still staring out the window.
"Yeah? Look up there"
He says pointing towards a sleeping volcano.
"I used to hike up there every year."
He says with a little smile on his face as he turns a corner.
"Woah! We should hike up there sometime! It looks really pretty!" At this point, her hands were on the window to try and get a better look at things.
"That would be fun!"
He says as he pulls up into a driveway. Turning off his car and stepping out, he turned to her.
"You ready?"
