Zenith's eyes widen. Oh. Okay. So she's like him…
'I consider myself an antihero. The exercise I do? Fighting off the military. Tragic past? I was born to die.'
Zenith's eyes widen. Oh. Okay. So she's like him…
'I consider myself an antihero. The exercise I do? Fighting off the military. Tragic past? I was born to die.'
'Isn't there some song about being born to die? I feel like there is. Anyways. Fighting the military…okay. Depends situational wise.'
Zenith smiles. Well, looks like she's taking this really well.
'In my defense, all I did was not want to die. And now they're trying to kill me. Seriously, do I not have rights? Don't answer that legally I do not have rights.'
'Jeeze someones sassy.' She smiled and got dressed, grabbed her guitar, and headed out the door. She went out and played guitar on street corners, just for extra cash. She sat there and began to play on the sidewalk, enjoying the sunny afternoon.
Sassy? Zenith frowns. He wasn't trying to be sassy. He was just stating things that happened- and providing commentary on it. But still- was that sassy?
'I mean- legally I don't have rights because I'm not considered human. But that's probably enough about me. What was that about a fake car crash?'
She didn't message back, instead sent a picture of her, and a street sign. 'I'm making a few extra bucks but come visit if you like.'
Zenith blinks. Woah. Okay. She- she really didn't care. Either that or she was trying to lure him into a trap so they could capture him.
He starts trying to weigh the pros and cons and the risks- but then just sighs. Screw it- thinking sucks.
The boy sends a simple 'On my way' before strapping on his combat boots. He ignores Katsumi and Crystal chatting as he makes his way out.
A few steps later, he turns around and goes back inside. "Do either of you have a map?"
"Use google, idoit."
Soon, he's at the street. He quickly recognizes Evelyn, and waves as he walks over. He smiles when he reaches her.
"Hi." He greets.
"Sup! Sorry I just like talking in person better. Sit." She pats the sidewalk next to her. "Anyways the whole fake car crash. Basically I ran myself into debt and couldn't pay it so I faked my death." She shrugged. "Se la vie. I'm technically Isabelle Mary Smith." She laughed a bit and started in on I'm Yours by Jason Mraz, singing a bit.
Zenith sits down beside her. "Debt. Yikes." He knows he's heard that term before, but he's not quite sure what it means. He should ask Crystal when he gets back. "I- I'm technically Theta. But please don't call me that. It has… traumatic memories attached to it."
She nods as she stops at the verse. "Indeed yikes. And I won't. Zenith sounds cooler anyways, Theta is some math term I was supposed to learn in highschool." She smiled, nudging him a bit with her shoulder, being a tease.
Zenith gives a somewhat sad smile. "Theta was never really a name to me." He admits. The sad smile disappears, replaced by a more genuine one. "But is now a bad time to mention I know nothing about math? And I've only recently learned how to read and write? Because I think now's the best time to mention that."
"And you're 17? Jeeze. I'm not any good with math but even I know the basics. Music. Music makes sense to me." She said as she slid her fingers along the fret board and did some fancy little riff. "Been playing a really long time. Oh, and I'm good at reading as well. Books are amazing."
"Hard to learn what you're not taught." There's a far away look in his eyes, and he sighs. He closes his eyes. A beat passes and he opens them. He cheer on his face is more than fake- its almost plastic. "But I'm learning now!"
"Hey now you quit that. Can't go for someone who is a faker. Drop that smile, let those emotions show. It's what makes us human ya know, it's a connection. Can't be heart to heart if there are walls between the two hearts, yeah? I can teach ya how to read, and the basics of math. I don't mind." She smiled softly.
Zenith drops the fake smile, and sighs. "I'm being taught by some friends of mine. And, uh… I'm not very good at emotions. It wasn't until recently that I was allowed to have emotions. So it- it might take me some time to get good at that. But I'm trying, at least."
"Well. It's all natural really. It's all pent up, bottled up, in the bottoms of you. That's bad. Dangerous even. It can manifest and explode, and an angry man with a weapon is never a good thing let me tell ya. So be true to yourself, if you even know what that is. And find a healthy way to let the bad emotions out. Oh. And the whole world is sexist and says Men Can't Cry. So then it turns into anger and then men do things like be destructive, and be abusive. So. It's okay to cry." She said softly, having switched to another song and played the whole thing through during this speech. "It's okay to smile, and laugh and express. No matter what the media like movies and such say. It's okay. Healthy ways other than crying would be finding like a creative outlet, like drawing or writing. Going on a walk and just venting to yourself, or maybe going to the gym and beating up a punching bag. Whatever works for you."
Zenith gives a small laugh. "It's less about society and more about my… dad." He makes air quotes around the last word. "I- I think I was supposed to be the 'angry man with a weapon'." He glances at the katana on his back. "And- I don't know what being true to myself means. I- I don't really know myself as well as I'd like." He sighs. "But enough about me. I should be talking about this kind of stuff to a therapist or something. What about you? Anything you want to vent about? When I'm not being a dumb*ss, I'm pretty good at listening."
"Naw I'm good. Just livin' the free, sweet simple life." She shrugged, and then grabbed the katana from his back. "Ooooooh. Beautiful blade. Needs to be sharpened though." She puts it carefully back into it's holster, when a man came out of nowhere, snatched up her guitar case, and ran off with it. "HEY! COME BACK HERE!" She groaned and got up, tapping her shoes together twice. Out popped a pair of roller skate heels. "Neat trick huh? Now then." She grabbed his katana. "Gotta go kill a thief today, hey!" And she took off. "YA CMON OR WHAT, HANDSOME?!?!?" She called out.
Zenith's eyes go wide. "Wait a minute, that- that is not a toy!" The katana is emitting a faint white glow, and the blade itself is a pure, blinding white. It also emits a magically aura that is large enough to be instantly sensed by anyone capable of sensing magic. Zenith breaks into a run, following the two. "And- and it's perfectly sharp enough, thank you!" He runs past Evelyn, snagging his katana from her on the way, and runs alongside the thief for a moment, giving him a crooked grin. Then he kicks him in the stomach, sending him into a back alley. He chases after, and the two- and after a second, three- of them are out of sight of everyone.
Zenith smiles- but it's not a friendly smile. This smile is dark, reflecting the danger in his eyes. "Now, you took something that belongs to a friend of mine. You're going to give it back now."
She rolled into the alleyway. "HEY BUGGER OFF! Filthy fucker." She shoves you aside, and kicks the guy in the side. "Jesus. Happens all the time doesn't it Jerry." She picks up the guitar case. "I keep tellin' ya, and yet you keep snatchin' it." She sighs and digs into her guitar case, and pulls out a knife. "Now. Are ya gonna stop, or am I gonna have to cut off another finger?" The man looks at you helplessly, trying to ask for forgiveness as she stood over him.
Zenith's eyes light up. "Hey… can this guy do magic? Or anything resembling magic?" The boy looks almost psychopathic. "Because if he can, I've got just the thing. And if he can't, well, I know in some places of the world the price for stealing isn't a finger- it's a hand." He smiles sweetly at Jerry.
The mans eyes got big and wide, and looked between us two. "Naw Zenith. Leave him be. He'll be fine. Right?" The man nodded quickly. She sighed and looked at his hand, and stomped on it, breaking quite a few bones. There was definitely quite the sickening crunch. "Right." He screamed and cried.
Zenith nods as he drops the false grin, sheathing his katana. "Next time, maybe don't take this out. It kinda- well, it's kinda powerful enough that its aura summons every man- or woman- and monster that senses magic in the area. It's kinda dangerous to unsheathe it- especially in public." He glances around warily, like he's expecting some magic being to come running around the corner.
"OH COOL! Time to just, wave that shit everywhere. Magical Magnet, that's all your katana is. I used to have a guitar katana, but I dunno where it went. Don't tell me things like that. Because now I'm gonna abuse that power until eventually either A, I have to fake my death. Again. Or B, actually die."
Zenith blinks. "Uh, it usually summons things that are pretty powerful. I mean, the sword removes all magic from anything it so much as scratches so I'm usually not too badly injured in those fights, but like… it's still dangerous." He explains. "Please don't wave it around everywhere- too much attention can be a bad thing."
