((well, she finally has a face to put with the voice))
Rowan reached over to smack the back of Harvey's head. "Way to go, dipshit." Harvey actually ducked his head apologetically, the most Aika would get out of him. Jordan whistled. "Damn, I can only assume you're stuck in this hell hole for a lot worse of a reason than I am." Tobias offered a small smile of reassurance, wrapping his arms around his knees loosely. Rory had a slight inkling of what might be going on with her, but it was still something else to actually hear that.
Aika shook her head, shooting Harvey a small half smile in response, before looking over at Jordan. "There's no 'worse'. Both of us were…unlucky, I guess." She sighed, lifting her cane, tapping the handle the way she had with Rory when referring to it. "Tumors…in my eyes. They think I've got a few months left of sight. The blindfold was…a way to stay in control of the situation, the best I could. Stop seeing on my own terms." A face to the voice, at least.
Rowan did the whole group a favor and smacked the back of Harvey's head again. The abused party of the group scooted away from Rowan, rubbing the back of his head. "Okay okay, I'm sorry. I was just curious," Harvey said, looking up at Aika at that last part. Rory offered her a small smile, understanding.
Jordan, being Jordan, sighed dramatically and flopped back onto his back. "That is waaaaaaaaaay more badass than my problem. Concussion. So lame."
"No, you don't-you don't have to apologize. I owed you, and Rory, honestly, and explanation." Aika said hurriedly, shaking her head. She pressed her lips together as her eyes returned to Jordan, and she tilted her head. "A concussion is no small thing, you know. Depending on the severity, it could have long lasting effects."
Jordan shrugged, sitting back up. "It wasn't that severe. Docs said it could've been way worse."
Tobias leaned forward so that he could be seen from his spot on the floor. "How did you and Rory meet? He left on his own and then came back an hour later with you." That reminded Rory of the spaghetti, and he walked over to Jordan's side to give it to him. The other boy's eyes lit up as he grabbed it with a plethora of 'thank you's.
Aika blinked, leaning against her cane slightly as she set it back on the floor. "I was stumbling around the hallway, lost on my way to the elevator a few hallways away from my room." She said, reaching up to push her hair away from her face. "He helped me find it, and we kept each other company while we ate lunch. I would have crashed into plenty of people, if it weren't for him."
Tobias grinned and twisted so he could look up at Rory. "Awwwww, our Rory's a hero," he cooed. Rory shot him a halfhearted glare and nudged him with his boot as he walked by, knocking over the boy yet again. "Heyyyy," Tobias whined. Rory looked to Harvey, and the other boy tossed him the blindfold without needing to be told. Rory then came over to Aika's side and handed her the blindfold. "I wouldn't go that far," he muttered, burrowing into his coat.
Aika shot him a grateful smile, looking down at the blindfold in her hands. "I don't know, you saved me, and all the people I would have sent crashing to the floor on accident." She pointed out, tying the bandana around her wrist and settling back against her cane. A little while until the first chemo treatment wouldn't hurt, right? Besides, it would give Rory a break from saving her from bumping into things.
"All I did was talk and tap," he said, shaking his head and trying to deny it. He didn't really see what he did as anything special—it was just something semi-normal anyway. Rowan arched a brow as he glanced between the two, then a smirk slid up his lips as he continued to stare. Tobias saw the look and opened his mouth, but Kasper beat him to it. "Shut it, Tobi. Let the man dream."
Aika tilted her head, her eyes flickering from one boy to the next, before settling on looking around the room, despite her slight confusion. The hospital room looked a lot like hers had when she'd gotten here, but something about it seemed different. More…full of life, despite being a hospital room. "Helpful, still." Gods, she still had barely any clue who any of them were. Rory she knew, obviously. Jordan was the one they were visiting, and Harvey had been yelled at enough for her to commit his name to memory, but the others…she debated asking, but eventually decided on staying quiet.
Rory made a noise and turned to face the rest of the group. "Right, introductions." He started with the smaller boy sitting on the floor, probably the only non-true-blonde of the group. "That's Tobias." He smiled and waved to Aika. Rory then pointed to the redhead in the hospital bed. "The idiot over there is Jordan." He nodded at Harvey, who had gone back to his perch on the windowsill. "Harvey, you probably already know by now. The one next to him is Rowan." The boy smirked, flicking his glasses back down onto his nose. Rory then nodded at the eccentric boy sitting in one of the visiting chairs, legs and arms draped over the armrests. "That's Kasper, our lead."
Aika smiled at each of them as Rory introduced them, her smile joined by a small nod. She was absolutely and totally oblivious to Rowan's smirk, as was usual. Meeting new people, flirting, and compliments, were all thing she had either no clue how to do, or accept. Or both, in the case of the second one. "As I said, it really is nice to meet all of you." Luckily, standing near Rory seemed to ease some of the slight awkward anxiety in her stomach, that made itself known despite everything.
They all waved to Aika, though Jordan's wave was with a fork as he stuffed his face with his spaghetti. Kasper sat up, head tilted as he looked to Aika, wireframed and practically useless glasses sliding down to the tip of his nose. He then grinned and looked up at Rory. "A perfect addition to our group. Well done, Rory," he said. Rory rolled his eyes.
Aika blinked, tilting her head just slightly. Glancing between Rory and Kasper, she wasn't quite sure what that meant. 'A perfect addition to our group.' This was incredibly confusing for multiple reasons, and she wasn't quite sure what to think of that. God, spending so much of your life focusing on nothing but work and more work really showed itself, didn't it? "Well done?" She asked, blinking in confusion.
Jordan happened to be the one within smacking distance of Kasper, and he definitely made use of the close proximity. He leaned over and smacked the back of the other boy's head, effectively knocking off the useless glasses—that may or may not be for aesthetic purposes. Tobias took that moment, which those two bickered, to look up at Aika with an apologetic look. "Ignore him. He's been looking for a girl to join our friend group for a while."
Rowan leaned back in his seat. "So tell us about yourself," he said.
Aika furrowed her brows, opening her mouth to comment on the exchange, before deciding against it and closing it. She thought for a moment, before finally speaking. "There…isn't a whole lot to tell. I'm a sophomore at Julliard, and a classical musician. Beyond that, there really isn't anything interesting. If one could even call that interesting."
Rory leaned against the door of the room, burrowing into his coat as he let Aika handle his friends on her own. Should she truly need help, he'd step in—but for now, he'd stay quiet. Harvey's eyes lit up at the mention of her musical history. "You're into music? That's awesome!" He gestured widely with his arms, and Rowan had to duck to avoid getting hit. "We're actually a band."
Aika let out a small laugh, nodding. "Yes. Violin and piano since I could walk." Her eyes flickered to Rory for a moment, remembering their conversation in the elevator, before she spoke again, smiling at Harvey. "So I've heard. "
"Aw, man," Harvey continued, sticking his tongue out at an offended-looking Rowan, "You really need to play some piano for us. Or—do you play keyboard as well? It'd be sick if we could get you to do something for our music. Kas and I've gotten a sort've dry spell when it comes to coming up with different sounds."
"I've never played a keyboard before." Aika said, completely oblivious as always as she shook her head slightly. "A dry spell?" She pressed her lips together in thought, tilting her head in the other direction. "I would be glad to offer a bit of assistance, if you really need it."
Harvey's face seemed to light up as he grinned from ear to ear. "Sweet! I don't actually have our stuff with me at the moment, but tomorrow I can definitely show it to you and get your input." Rory rolled his eyes when he realized what Harvey was doing. He just wanted to spend time with a pretty girl and maybe on the off-chance that it'd happen, get her number and so on and so forth. Such a desperate man, that one.
"I think I'm free in the afternoon." Aika said, an innocent offer of a loose schedule. She was supposed to meet Dr. Abaza to talk about the treatment, what it would entail, and get a sort of check up to make sure nothing was immediately wrong after the treatment. "I can't promise I'll be much help, though."
Harvey nodded frantically like a child who was just said 'maybe' to a trip to the candy store. "That works, and I'm sure you'll be a lot of help. It's nice to have a different set of ears when working on this sort of thing." The others all rolled their eyes, catching onto what he was trying to do.
