Aika Higashi had created the perfect life for herself. Despite every twist and turn thrown at her, she managed to graduate high school two years early, and was accepted to Juilliard just a few months later on a classical music scholarship. She's always moved fast, but that's alright, because it means she's in control of her own life. And everything is good, is great.

And then she's diagnosed with ocular lymphoma. Suddenly, everything in Aika's life is spiraling out of control, and she has no clue how to react. Her scholarship, the most important thing in her life and the one thing she let herself indulge in, is suddenly tossed out the window, along with her already rocky relationship with her father. Now, she doesn't even have her future to think about, which used to be her go-to distraction.

And then she meets someone. Someone who is slowly, but surely, teaching her that there's more to life, and that living is okay.

  1. For the love of the gods, none of that Mary/Gary Sue bullshit. I legit can't stand characters like that.

  2. I sound like a broken record, I know, but I'm gonna keep saying it. Please use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation/capitalization. A few mistakes are fine, when you're tired or it's not your first language, but I'm nitpicky and can't stand it being a common thing.

  3. Three or so sentences a response, and don't just type dialogue. I'd like to keep it going, and be able to respond without spending an hour thinking of a response.

  4. I'm looking for someone who's decently active, but understands that I(should) have a life outside Notebook.

  5. If I turn you down, it's not your fault. I'm just picky.

  6. I might add to this, because I'm spacey af.

ALRIGHT. Yes, I am starting another rp, despite the five thousand I'm ignoring, and my failing classes. Anyway! The open position is kind of specific, because this idea is very loosely based off of a book(?) I read forever ago. Basically, a male popstar/boy band member/singer, something along those lines, who's either there visiting someone they know, or is staying in the hospital after some minor accident. I also may or may not be definitely hoping for a dynamic that somewhat fits the song Kids Again.

Name: Aika Higashi
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Sexuality: She has absolutely no clue, and has never been super focused on romance.
Appearance: Dark red hair to a little below her shoulders, that blazes like a fire in direct sunlight. She gets it from her mother, who's American. Lighter skin, can tan, but it takes a lot of work, so she never really bothered. Bruises hella easy though. 5'4 with slim curves, hides a decent amount of strength underneath her small stature. Almond shaped eyes that are a dark brown, almost black color, like a night sky without stars. She has a few scars, one on her abdomen, a few on her hips, and one thin one along her collarbone, all from the same incident, that she refuses to talk about.
Usual Outfit: When she's not wearing a hospital gown, she prefers a sort of classy casual? Black skinny jeans and either black flats or black heeled ankle boots. Solid colored tops, usually tanks or long sleeved. Finishes off with, get this, a navy blue blazer. Her mother's wedding ring on her right index finger, though she says it was her grandmother's if anyone asks. It's…slightly odd, but in some attempt at taking things into her own hands, she uses a black bandana given to her by the patient in the room next to hers as a blind fold. She never takes it off, preferring to get used to not being able to see on her own terms.
Personality: More a quiet and intelligent type. Puts others first, and her music is really the only thing she allows herself to enjoy and indulge in. Witty, holds great conversations when she wants to. Doesn't talk much about her past. Will stand up for something if it's important, but she would much rather mediate when she can.
Backstory: Uhh…I'll add to this sometime, but her mother is a famous actress. Her parents split when she was fourteen, and despite her mother's attempts to contact her, she won't talk to her.
Likes: Music, stargazing on the rare occasion, coffee(drinks it black, never anything else), reading, learning, fireflies.
Dislikes: Sweet things, not because she doesn't like the taste, but she thinks it's frivolous. Not being able to control what happens to her, wasting time, mentions of her mother.
Theme Song/Favorite: Oh Raven by Unlike Pluto is her favorite non-classical song.

Name: Rory Kennedy
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight-ish. He's attracted to women, but can appreciate good-looking men as well
Appearance: Fluffy honey blonde hair that sometimes falls into his narrow, leafy green eyes. He's around 5'9 with a slim build, most of his facial features subtly sharp—meaning that you can see how sharp they really are in certain lights and angles. He's British-born, but his father was half Korean, which is where he got his narrow eyes and pale completion.
Usual Outfit: Fluff. He loves fluff. He wears fuzz-lined coats with large, soft, fur-lined hoods. Underneath the coat he wears band-shirts (usually kpop, tbh). Jeans and boots.
Personality: He loves to laugh and joke around, and he's always smiling and looking at the good in the world. Very soft and cuddly, in that he's usually very kind and available for comfort. Some say his very presence is calming and comforting. But if someone is threatening someone he loves, he won't hesitate to jump in between them to defend said loved one.
Backstory: He was born in England, but his parents had moved there from South Korea. He's grown up around kpop and all things music, so it was no surprise he became part of a boy band. He doesn't much care for the spotlight, so he took up the role as one of the backing singers, occasionally releasing a solo song but not preforming it. His group members are all good friends of his, and the only reason they got an early start in the careers was because one of the member's parents was friends with an agent.
Likes: Soft and fluffy. Fluffy blueberry pancakes. All things Korean.
Dislikes: Rough or stiff textures. Constricting clothing. BBQ.
Theme Song/Favorite: From Zero by Monsta X
Other: Speaks fluent Korean and English. His default accent is a mix of British and Korean, but he can alter it to be either one.

Here you go

@croccin-champagne

He's absolutely adorable and I love him.

Two things. One, is he there visiting someone or as a patient?
And two is just something that might be worth mentioning at the beginning. Aika will have absolutely no clue who he is, thanks to her blindfold and shit knowledge of pop culture as a whole

@ElderGod-kirky group

He'll be fine with her not knowing who he is, as, like I said, he's more in the background anyway. And he'll be visiting a fellow member who had gotten hit by a drunk driver. (in his car, not while he was walking on the road)

@croccin-champagne

Chemo. The thought hit Aika suddenly and without warning, as she carefully used the cane given to her to feel her way down the hallway towards the elevator, one hand on the wall. She paused, biting her lip as she gripped the cane tightly, resisting the urge to reach up and yank the blind fold off, to see the harsh fluorescent lighting of the hospital.

Chemo, later today. That made the whole thing even more real than being give a hospital gown had. Chemo, to combat the cancer in her eyes, the cancer that would eventually take her eyesight away. She'd known all this, of course. Had for the three days she'd been staying at the hospital, had for two weeks before even then, when Dr. Abaza had called her.

It had come out of nowhere. Or maybe it hadn't, and Aika just hadn't seen it. But it had showed up any way, and had put her in the hospital as soon as her dad had found out. Dad. He hadn't called since her first night, and even then…he'd seemed off. It was probably work, but…it hadn't quite seemed like it.

Rory wondered through the hospital halls, munching on an ice cream sandwich. One of his bandmates and friend, Jordan, was recovering here after getting involved in a drunk driving accident. Thankfully, Jordie wasn't the drunk driver, but it still sucked to see him here for the mistakes of someone else. Rory was glad to hear that he'd make a full recovery, though. At least he had been spared that.

Rory stopped in his tracks when he saw a girl pass by, a blindfold over her eyes, a cane in her hand, and her other hand pressed against the wall. Without much thought, he cleared his throat to make his presence known, then spoke to her. "Hello, these halls are a maze to get through," he stated offhandedly, not commenting on her apparent blindness to avoid upsetting her.

@croccin-champagne

Aika was jerked out of her thoughts by a voice, one she didn't recognize. Granted, she hadn't been here long, but she knew most of the voices on her floor, and the one under it. Turning towards where she assumed the source was, she nodded slightly. "That they are. And they all smell, and I'm guessing look, the same." It wasn't meant to be a joke, but it sounded almost like one. That was something that happened a lot with her.

@ElderGod-kirky group

Rory looked around the hall he was in. He had wandered around the entire hospital during the time Jordan was there, so he had pretty much every floor memorized. "Yeah, they're pretty much the same, looks-wise. Though there are a few differences." He had slipped into his British accent when he first spoke to her without realizing it, so he kept it up to avoid confusing her. Pretty much only his friends were used to his "three" accents.

@croccin-champagne

"I have absolutely no clue how the doctors do it." Aika's nose scrunched up slightly as she cast a glance around the hall, as though there wasn't a blindfold over her eyes. She had to admit, his accent was fairly pleasant to listen to, though she'd love to put a face to it. What's the point? Just another face you'll forget anyway.

@ElderGod-kirky group

Rory hummed and tilted his head, his blonde locks falling into his leafy green eyes. Ahh, I'm gonna have to get a trim soon. "Memorization," he said, taking an educated guess based off of his own memorization of the place. "Go through it enough times and you have a pretty good idea of where you're going without needing to see where you are."

@croccin-champagne

"I'll have plenty of time to do that then. Thank you for the tip, sir." Sir probably wasn't right. He sounded too young. But Aika had been raised on manners, and without being able to see him(Her fault. She knew that.), it was a safe default.

@ElderGod-kirky group

"Ah, I forgot to introduce myself." Rory ducked his head slightly when he realized that small oversight. "I'm Rory Kennedy," he offered, not bothering to say that he was part of a semi-famous group—at least in these parts. He and the boys had moved to America to broaden their horizons, and this particular town was taking quite a liking to them.

@croccin-champagne

"Aika. Aika Higashi." After a moment of thought, she held out her hand in his general direction, if about half a foot off. Who could really blame her though? Aika's mouth pulled into a polite smile, making it obvious she had absolutely no clue who he was.

@ElderGod-kirky group

Rory didn't make a fuss of it and easily moved so they were in line, taking her hand in his. His grip was gentle but slightly firm. He tilted his head the other way, turning her name over in his head and cataloging it for later use. "Higashi…" he mused slowly, "That sounds Asian."

@croccin-champagne

"Japanese." Aika confirmed with a nod, her grip much firmer and business-like than his. "On my father's side." She released his hand, letting her own fall to her side as she leaned on the cane slightly. They had said chemo would make her weaker, but she already felt weaker. Psychosomatic. You're already prepping your eyes, the rest of your body thinks it needs to follow suit.

@ElderGod-kirky group

"Huh, thought so." Rory dropped his own hand, but then both hands moved to his coat. On the outside, it was just a normal knee-length jacket with a fur-lined hood. On the inside? Fuzz heaven. Rory had spent quite a bit of his salary on getting it professionally tailored to his liking, and it was well worth the money—he used it almost all the time. "I pretty much know where everything is here, so if you need any help finding your way through this maze, I'm free."
