"Aw, hey there!" She smiled at the kitten. Arwen looked at Diana. "What's its name?"
"Aw, hey there!" She smiled at the kitten. Arwen looked at Diana. "What's its name?"
"Well that would be Bas. The cat I told ya about. Bas, this is Arwen." She didn't take her eyes off the road, but Bas meowed at her. "She's givin' us a place t' stay for a bit." That answer seemed to be satisfactory, as he returned to staring up at Arwen.
"Nice to meet ya, Bas." Arwen felt a bit strange, talking to a cat and all. She felt the road become rough beneath the tires. "We're almost there," She pointed to a house. "Right there, that's it."
Bas meowed again in response, and Diana laughed. "He likes you. So this one up here?"
"Yup. It's not the nicest, but I find it cozy enough." I hope no squirrels got in this time. They always tore the house up, and that wouldn't be good considering the circumstances.
Diana pulled up close to the house and parked the car, turning off the engine. She grabbed a duffel from the back seat and turned to grin at Arwen.
(I have shit to do for a bit. I'll be back tomorrow or Monday, k?)
Arwen grinned back at her. This was exciting; she hardly ever had anyone over, let alone a stranger. She opened the door and looked back at Diana. "Well, we'd better get moving. The rain's slowing a bit, and I gotta see if squirrels got in."
((kk
"Squirrels can be evil." She stated, following.
"Lately, they've been taking to killing my house," Arwen stated bluntly.
"You got any idea why?"
"I don't. They don't want to talk, either," She replied, taking Bas in her arms.
"Well, we better hurry then. Maybe Bas can scare 'em off. Waddya say?" Bas meowed in response, raising a paw to swipe at the air, and Diana laughed.
"Alright. Hope he can. They're a pain in the arse," She responded. Looking at her clothes, she was now soaked.
"Let's get inside." Diana said, laughing.
"You read my mind," Arwen replied, also laughing.
She followed Arwen to the house, arm up in a faint attempt to stay somewhat dry.
Opening the door, Arwen presented her drab house. "Here it is. Nothing fancy."
"I don't think you understand how incorrect that is. I haven't been in a house in years, not one I was staying in at least." Diana stated as she looked around in awe.
"Wow. Come with me, I'll show you the guest room," She looked at Diana.
Diana followed happily, and Bas wriggled in Arwen's arms, eager to go explore.
Arwen set Bas down and pointed to a door. "Here it is. Make yourself comfy."
Bas took off, and functionally disappeared. Diana pushed open the door and stopped, turning back to Arwen. "Thanks, again. I'll try and get some sort of gig or something so that I can pay rent."
Nah, it's fine. I own the property," Arwen responded. "But grocery help, I might need that," She admitted shamefully
"Then I can definitely help with that."
"My girlfriend used to help…. she died a few months ago…" She shared. STOP IT Arwen thought. You've hardly known her for an hour!
