@Camie-simps-for-Eve-Best here we are!
(Perfect! Would you like to start?)
(Sure :)
Ren'nyi growled as she fought alongside this… human. Why her, of all people? WHY?
She was backed against a wall, fighting an entire army of anti-magic users.
(Changed my mind, I'm changing my character.)
Cleo panted for breath. She could see Ren'nyi beside her, heard her growling, but she ignored it. Instead, she focused in on lashing out at anyone who got near her.
"What the hell, Ren?" she called over her shoulder. "Aren't you supposed to be all-powerful or some shit?"
(Aight, fair enough, lol!)
"Usually, yes! However, when you've been fighting nonstop for hours you tend to get fucking tired!" Ren calls back, unleashing a powerful wave of telepathic energy through the masses of humans.
"And aren't you supposed to shut up every once in a while?" she snarls.
"How the hell are there so many people?" Cleo snapped, ignoring Ren's question. "We need to find a way out of here. And preferably one that doesn't involve us dying, unlike your last plan."
Ren bares her teeth in a vicious snarl at the nearest enemies, her spear slicing through them like a sword through butter.
"Hell if I know!" she sanps back. "And oy! My plans do not get us nearly killed. That's your job, human."
"How many times have I told you not to call me that?!" Cleo yelled. Too focused on her conversation, she didn't notice a man getting too close to her. He reached out swiftly and grabbed her, cupping a firm hand over her mouth. She thrashed, but his grip was strong. Oh God, Ren, please!
Ren struggles, then wrenches Cleo free of the mans grip, catching him in a backhanded blow that broke his jaw and killed him. She spits after the body.
"Can't have you dying quite just yet, human." she smirks pointedly, mowing through another line of enemies.
"Don't call me that!" Cleo clung to Ren as she fought. As much as Cleo hated to admit it, her demigoddess frienemy was incredibly powerful. She looked around furiously and spotted a drone flying at them. "Ren! Look out!" she cried.
Ren looks up, then chuckles. The drone shorts out, water pouring out of it.
Why can't I call you human? It's what you are. Would you rather me call you bitch?" she snarls, spinning and slashing like a demon.
Cleo glared, ducking under another man's swinging fist and using her momentum to knock his feet out from under him. "No!" she shot back. "I have a name, you know!"
"Oh, really? I have a name, and you don't use it." Ren says viciously, dispatching the man Cleo had just knocked down. Sighing, she picks up Cleo and floats into the air to survey how many are left. WIth despair, she sees there's hundreds of thousands of troops left.
"We can't continue." she says, the words almost physically hurting.
Cleo wrapped her arms around Ren's neck instinctively and clung to her. "Why didn't you do that sooner?" she asked, trying to sound stern, but her tone wavered. Heights… "It's as I said, we have to get out of here."
Ren scowls. "Shut up."
She vanishes from the battlefield, then when they reach a safe space, Ren unceremoniously drops Cleo from a few feet up, watching her stumble.
Cleo shrieked in fear, even though the drop wasn't too far. She hit the ground, and her legs shook so badly she collapsed the rest of the way. Her wavy golden-brown hair fell into her face as she trembled. "Please," she begged. "Don't ever do that again…"
Ren laughs. "Always funny."
She lands herself. "Now, why are you here? I thought you were still on Earth."
Cleo glared. "I mean it. Don't pull that shit again with me, do you understand? And how the hell am I supposed to know?"
Ren looks annoyed. "And what makes you think I'll listen?"
She shakes her head. "How can you not know?"
"If you have even a shred of respect for me, you'll listen," Cleo snapped, rising to her feet. "But forget that. What happened?" she demanded, still shaking a bit from her fall. "What happened to us? Honestly, it's like one moment, we're closer than we've ever been, and the next, we're just barely tolerating each other?!"
Ren snarls. "Why should I respect you when you disrespected me first?"
"You and Fer'rey! That's what happened!" she snaps.
Cleo's face instantly deadpanned. She shook her head slowly. "No… No!"
"I saw you two. I saw you two. And you never told me, not once." Ren growls.
"We were talking," Cleo defended herself and her friend. "And I didn't tell you because it didn't think it was that big of a deal since we were just talking."
Ren laughs, a harsh, acerbic sound. "I saw you two kissing, Cleo. You going to tell me I imagined that?"
