(Cool, though it is dark, and that is also my thought process… everyone is a "guy", regardless of gender…)
Arthur fell back with a whump, sighing he got up and warped down to the alleyway, right in front of the skirt wearing person. Arthur yawned, tired, and annoyed, "Why did you break into my house?"
j looked in surprise, ducking out of the way and booking it into the gloom. they headed towards their camp with the others, breath coming fast and hard as they ran. they realized that they wouldn't be able to make it all the way to the camp without stopping, so they veered to the left, scaled a tree and settled in a v-shaped nook towards the top.
their dark garments draped over them, making them virtually invisible to anyone that wasn't like,, an elf or something.
Arthur sighed, jogging after him, dashing down the street he stopped shortly, scanning everything around him. stopping under a seemingly random tree he chanced a look up. "I see you." he said boredly, "I'd like for you to answer my question."
a blunt dart flew from the next tree over, accompanied by j uncovering their head and sticking their tongue out from the tree it flew from.
there was a note attached to the dart that read "nice try, but that's the wrong tree, dumbass. also i'd like you to know i literally cannot answer that. ta-ta, now darling, i'll be going back to my camp. you should too."
they slipped out of the tree, gracefully landing and beginning to walk leisurely in the same direction they were running.
Arthur sighed, using a violet whip of aura to encircle the other, pulling a sketchpad and a pencil out of a random portal.
You never use your powers this freely!
I don't care right now
"Answer" he said flatly, handing him the sketchpad and pencil.
(hey can you use they? i've told you that j is gender neutral. they is their preferred pronoun in general, and only he or she if specified)
j smirked, exaggeratedly accepting the paper and pencil in a way that radiated sarcasm. they quickly scribbled something down and handed it to arthur.
times are hard, bitch boy. you got your stuff, so now you can lay off. i may only be a human but even a mutant bastard like you should be afraid of having a dragon sic'd on them. also, that shade of violet is quite ugly.
(Sorry! Not used to the gender neutral thing… I will definitely try to remember!)
"One, Dragons don't scare me. Two, I have no control over the shade of my aura. Three, you look half starved, also known as do you need food?" he said seemingly unfazed by the insult.
they shrugged, scribbling down an additional
"do you know sign? it's too dark for me to easily read lips. also, you should, considering that they could literally just eat you. their mouths are bigger than your entire body. just a self-preservation tip, dude."
Arthur sighed, slowly signing his next answer, Not good at it, Also I can probably beat a dragon, or outrun them.
j snorted goodnaturedly, hands shaking slightly as they signed.
"debatable. anyway, you said something about food?"
Arthur sighed, "yes" he signed, letting the other down, his auras vanishing.
j landed cleanly, and sent arthur another lopsided smile.
"lead the way."
Arthur rolled his eyes, opening a portal back into his living room, leading the stranger through.
And why, may I ask, are you helping him?!
I'm not gonna let a guy starve on the streets.
Gesturing for the stranger to sit on the couch he flicked some more lights on, rustling in the cupboard for chips, and pulling some cheese strings out of the fridge.
j tucked themself gratefully on the couch, waiting patiently for arthur to come back.
Arthur came back, dumping the food on the couch and flopping on the floor, exhausted. "Eat what you want, stick around, I know I'm tired but I don't particularly want to sleep." he said aloud.
j nodded, picking up a cheese stick and unwrapping it.
they just straight bit into it, and after they were done they cleared their throat and tried something in a wobbly voice.
"whats- whats your name?"
it was pitched weirdly, but they obviously had experience with speaking while deaf.
Arthur blinked, but didn't think about it as he answered, "Arthur, you?"
they quickly signed a j, leaving it at that.
"J?" said Arthur, "That's it?"
they shrugged, and signed casually, "i have other names. j is easiest. i can write my longer ones."
"Cool" Arthur pulled out a handful of chips and began munching, not moving from his position on the floor.
j snatched a small bag of chips, opening it and crumching slowly. after a long pause filled with only the two eating, j put down the chips and signed a quick "thank you"
Arthur nodded, "I'm not one to let a guy starve, plus having someone else around is better than sleeping at the moment." he said, just now realizing that he was still shirtless.
j smiled brightly.
"i guess. still, thank you." (im gonna sleep)
"No problem" said Arthur, yawning as he crunched on another chip.
(Kk, see you tommorrow!)
