A strange new podcast has infatuated teenagers in the town of Starlocke. Hosted by the mysterious 'Wendigo' (my character), the podcast follows his adventures in trespassing and cryptid hunting. One night, it becomes clear that he's a student at the local high school, and the hunt for his identity begins. Naturally, police aren't against this for the sake of charging him for trespassing, but one person is very disinterested.

(Your character) is a fan of the podcast, but they don't want the mystique ruined, and instead work to throw people as far off Wendigo's trail as possible. Then, right before a new episode of the podcast begins, their phone lights up with a new message from somebody named 'WendigoBones'. It only contains a pair of coordinates-an invitation of sorts.

As the two grow closer, they unearth a strange mystery involving the woods, a small cave, and what used to be a functioning cabin.

I hope that sums up the plot? I was in love with this idea from the moment I had it so I'd really prefer somebody active to join. I didn't have any plans for this to be a romance, just bros being bros and discovering a cryptid, but if you would like it to be a romance, just say so.

andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)'s rules obviously apply. I will be allowing gore for the sake of our lovely cryptid friend, and some cursing for the sake of the podcast and perhaps just making some more intense scenes laughable.

Name: Josephine de la Cruz

Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bi
Appearance: A mess of curly brown hair, shaved to one side, tanned skin, and dark brown eyes. A bit short, but if you mention it you will die. She has a few home done piercings on her ears and one on her nose. The most easily identifiable is an industrial bar piercing she stuck a safety pin through (taking a lil inspo from Johnny Rotten on the “safety pins as earrings” thing). She has two stick and poke tattoos. A small anarchy symbol on her thigh from when she was trying to figure out how to do it, and a protection sigil on her wrist.
Personality: Loud, acts confident, a chaotic mess, disaster gay, actually fucking terrified, does not like herself much, sleep deprived child, rebellious, always down to overthrow the goverment, ready to fight a bitch, loyal, will die for anyone who happened to be nice to her once, falls in love easily, honestly a sweetheart, loves her friends, drinks her respect people juice, a dork, a bit childish, full of rage, likes punching nazis
Flaws: Low self esteem, focus issues, doesn't care about her own safety
Likes/Dislikes: Likes magic, music, sleep, the dark, night, guitar, coffee, the supernatural, punk subculture. Dislikes assholes, most people

Online Alias(es): Wendigo, WendigoBones
Name: Larkspur Florence Hanson
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Pansexual
Appearance: Lark stands at about 5'10" and has wavy, dirty blonde hair that nicely complements his jade eyes. His clothing style takes a bit of an odd turn, as Lark will often pair overalls with a button-up and boots (maybe it's because of his parents always gardening). When 'cryptid hunting', he'll switch out his clothes for jeans, a sweater, a leather jacket, running shoes, gloves, and a full mask.
Personality: A bit of a cryptic dude, never giving people a full answer to their questions. Lark is a loud person who does his best to be friendly, but some people he just outright dislikes. Tends to do the exact opposite of what he's told.
Flaws: Trespasses just for the adrenaline rush without any regard for his safety. Will get very defensive, sometimes to the point of violence, when somebody accuses him of something he didn't do.
Likes/Dislikes: Cryptids, his podcast, playing games with people, trespassing, wendigos (duh)/Being caught, nosy people, sharing personal details, slow walkers.
Other: Lark has an odd name due to his parent's obsession with botany.

"Hello? Can y'all hear me?" Lark spoke into his phone, addressing the audience which was full of people who couldn't respond. "I hope you're doing okay tonight, because I know I sure am. I've been waiting all week for this episode but schooling has kept me from going any earlier. Aside from school, my parents have also kept me from going out-sometimes they notice me gone from the house so late at night."

As Lark finished his sentence, the call of an owl could be heard. If one were to listen closer, they could hear a fox snapping a stick nearby, and a mouse moving through the dense layer of leaves which covered the forest floor.

"Y'know, I'm glad I started this podcast when I did. Fall is the best time for being out late at night, with the temperature being perfect and whatnot," he spoke, a hint of a smile in his voice. "Anyways, onto the place we're exploring tonight which happens to be. . . the Licht family property! Abandoned in around 1870, this farmhouse is the perfect place to find anything and everything creepy! Upon initial contact with the place, I found old dolls and animal bones! One can only assume it manages to get worse from there, and for those of you who know what I'm referencing, kudos to you, my friends," Lark said, his steps echoing along with running water in the background.

His breathing was loud at this point-he must've done some running or vaulted something while he had been talking. Nobody could be sure, though, because the Licht farm was somewhat of an urban legend to Starlocke-people had heard about it, but nobody had ever managed to locate it until Lark came along. Any long-time listeners would know that he had a knack for finding these secluded, often dilapidated buildings which people had only ever heard of or forgotten about. What frustrated some listeners most, however, was the fact that he'd never reveal the location of these places. The one time a listener had found a site that Lark had visited, it'd vanished into thin air the next day, leaving only small trinkets and rotting wood in its wake, and from then on, listeners made a silent agreement to let Lark keep his secrets.

"God-why does the hike here require so much damn energy?" Lark whispered, his clothes heard shuffling as he presumably took a seat somewhere. "Ah, that's better. I'd like to uh, discuss further plans while I rest for a second; any questions before I do, chat?"

((I'm sorry for writing like a whole book and then some just to kick this off lol))

@CWPoofToxicRush

((Hey, man, it's fine, I get it!))

Josephine sat at home, podcast open on her computer as she played around with her guitar. After the internal debate of "chill with some Ramones or actually challenge yourself with Motley Crue so dad will stop teasing", she picked Motley, the chords to Kickstart Your Heart scribbled on the paper in front of her. She watched Lark out of the corner of her eyes, humming softly. "Fuck even happened to the Licht?" She mumbled. "Did they eat the rich? He gonna give context? C'mon Lark, show us the real spooky shit." She smiled, as if he could hear her. "Or freak out everyone and revel yourself! Ruin the mystery!"

@Kie group

"I see many questions about the Licht family," Lark said, chuckling slightly. "Long-time listeners should know I have a fondness for Wendigos, and Wendigos are why I took a special interest in finding this place."

There was a pause for dramatic effect-typical of Lark-and after some begging in the chat, he continued with his explanation.

"Claimed in the mid-1700s, the Licht family property was the farming dream. Complete with fertile land and wild horses, there wasn't anything wrong with the land-or so it seemed. In our little town of Starlocke most of the elderly know about the Licht family tragedy, which we will be exploring further in the coming days. For now, I'll just give you the rest of the background story. The original Licht family who made their home in Starlocke consisted of five people; Kenneth, who was the man of the house, his wife Rachél, and their three children, Pearl, Locke, and Stevie," Lark stopped for a second, and he could be heard taking a drink of something. "Kenneth, our lovely farmer, was a very successful man. You see, the reason he even came to Starlocke was to establish another farm which he could see before moving once again. Sadly, in 1779, Rachél fell ill to a disease that I can't name, because sometimes hours looking through thrift stores and the like offers me no answers. Within two years, Rachél died, leaving Pearl and Stevie in the care of her husband. Coincidental as Locke's name is, he left home a month or so before his mother died, and has no significance to this story. Instead, we'll focus on Pearl and the tragedy which resulted in her trauma, as well as th-" Lark suddenly stopped speaking, cut off by what sounded like a near-by scream, his next words came out in a choked whisper as he could be heard scrambling to his feet. "What in the hell? I-I've got to go, I'll report back to y'all in regards to whatever just happened later-"

Just like that, the podcast ended. People who stuck around in chat took liberty in calling the scream a hoax-something to draw attention and make people return, while others wanted to know where Starlocke was, and how they'd managed to stumble across Lark's site. Messages slowed when something from Lark popped up in chat.

WendigoBones☻Creator: I don't know what I just saw, but I got some blurry photos and am currently running for my life. Probably won't be returning back here at night, not alone at least. Believe it or not, that scream isn't the first I've heard in this area. Next time I go at night, I'll be bringing someone with. Maybe I'll even put up applications for you guys to come along, lol.

@CWPoofToxicRush

Josephine blinked, frozen in confusion. "Well, that was some horror movie shit…" She mumbled, closing her laptop. She shook her head, biting her lip. "He probably just found some weird animal…" She mumbled, glancing out the dark window. "Who the fuck would he even bring along?" She shrugged, shutting up the one part of her imagination and focusing on her guitar until her mother yelled at her to go to sleep.

Lark went to sleep as soon as he got home. Although there wasn't any school the next day, he was expected to help with gardening on Sundays and his mom would be on his back if he wasn't awake for her to boss him around.

Upon waking the next morning, Lark remembered what he had seen the previous night.

"Maybe my lovely audience can help me identify whatever that was," he said to himself, sliding into his gaming chair (which was for purely aesthetic purposes).

In his hasty attempts to log-on to his website, he ended up locking his account for 5 minutes-long enough for his mother to force him out of his room and into the front yard.

"Mom, I just need to do something really quick!" Lark would protest, trying to push past the short woman and into his room.

"You should be out front gardening with your father and I," she would say, giving him a look he knew all too well. He liked to call it the 'Outside now before I ground you for a week and put industrial grade locks on your windows so you can't sneak out at night,' look.

"Fine-only thirty minutes though!" he'd reply, throwing his hands in the air and storming through the house to the porch, his mother following closely.

That was exactly what had happened in that time frame, except Lark succeeded in getting himself grounded. While helping his parents, any passerby could tell Lark felt very put out by the task. In return for the attitude he had given his mother, he had spent an hour gardening from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM. Soon as he returned to his room, he logged onto his website and finally posted the images he had taken the previous night.

The images featured a large, dark figure which looked emaciated. It definitely wasn't a human-the shape of its body gave that away.

Topic: Any Idea What This Is? Posted by WendigoBones, 7:10 AM
Description: Here are the images I promised from last night. Not quite sure what it is, but maybe it's a Wendigo? Jokes aside, I think it's just a poor emaciated bear who happened across me at the wrong time. The screaming has happened almost every time I've been. Pretty sure that's just kids playing a prank or someone who lives nearby, but I haven't explored the surrounding area enough to be sure. As for the next episode, I'll be holding it in my room tonight, since I managed to get myself grounded and can't go anywhere. Sorry for those of you who expected to see some of the Licht property soon. Maybe I'll post some pictures I took the first time around to make up for the coming lack of episodes. - Lark☻

@CWPoofToxicRush

Josefine had left his website open last night when she closed her laptop, the picture making her jump slightly. She read through the post, squinting at the picture. She knew she would be dragged out soon to help with groceries (her mom did appreciate that her punk appearance intimidated assholes that hung around the supermarket's entrance sometimes), but fuck, she wanted to see what the hell this was.

Looks like some kind of fucking demon. Pestilence related, maybe, because of the emaciated look? I don't fucking know man Posted by Jojo Rebeldeita, 7:18 am
