Daniel made an expectant look at Theo, wanting him to continue on with his talk.
Daniel made an expectant look at Theo, wanting him to continue on with his talk.
Theo sighed again, “So, I know this might be a stupid question, but how are you feeling?”
Letting out a slightly annoyed sigh of his own, "Um, I think you were right. That's kind of a dumb question." Feeling proud of himself, Danny quirked a little smile.
Theo chuckled softly, "I know, I know, but still, it would help me understand you just a little better."
(sorry i kept getting distracted whenever i was trying to write back last night lol)
A shy smile comes onto his face, "U-um… Better, now…" His voice is soft, but louder than it had been before.
(Ooft mood, don’t worry about it)
“That’s good to hear. What about the nightmares? Can you tell me a little about them? If not I understand, I won’t push now.”
Daniel let out a shaky breath, eyes downcast as he just points over to his small pile of drawings on his desk. "They're not getting any better…"
Theo stood slowly, walking over to where the pictures were sitting. He picked them up and walked back over, resuming his previous position, "Can you explain one to me, please?"
Slowly, Danny slid down onto the ground in front of Theo, lightly nodding as he did so. On the top of the stack was a scribbly crayon drawing. There was a shadowy man that was bordering on being a blob or smear, but the background was scribbled greys and dark blues, all the colors looking as if he had pushed down hard enough to break them. "This one…" His shaky, pale hand pointed to the drawing, "It's the man that always comes to me in my dreams… He tries to hurt me…" As always, his voice was small and shaky, a soft, breathy tone to it as he tried to talk. This was likely the most talking he's done in days, weeks, even.
Theo nodded slowly, shifting slightly closer towards Danny as he did so, “This man, does he have a name? Do you know who he is in real life?”
Hesitating, Danny shook his head, "No. E-everything's a bit fuzzy, now… I can't remember…" He made a pained face, clearly upset at his loss of memory, "Th-the doctors told me that it probably has something to do with trauma and my mind is probably just blocking it out…" He comfortingly ruffled his hair, lightly gripping the soft strands.
Theo nodded a little, flicking through the drawings. His eyes scanned every part, drinking in the drawings, “What else can you tell me about them?”
"Um…" He lightly bit his lip as he shuffled the pile the slightest bit, trying to get a good look at the other few drawings. "Uh–this one was one of my awake-nightmares." He stated, pointing at a drawing of a large man with a noose tied around his neck, but it was just dangling to the ground in front of him. He was wearing a tan mask that surrounded the entirety of his head and had large bunny ear-like things protruding from the top, still a part of the mask. The holes, however, where the mouth and eyes should be, were but gaping black holes with little lines that looked as if they were supposed to be black drippings of something. "He tried to hurt me. He was loud… I think it happened last week." The drawing would explain his recent outburst when he had started screaming and painful cries for help across the hospital. When the nurses had come rushing to his room, they came into a scary scene of him huddling in a corner with a bleeding cut on his head from banging it into the wall and scratch marks on his arms. They had to sedate him.
Theo frowned a little, taking the drawing in his hands. It sent shivers down his spin to think that there's were nightmares Danny was having, "Why are their bunny ears coming from the mask? Does it symbolise something?"
Danny just shrugged, lightly chewing at one of his sweater paws, "Isn't that what you're supposed to figure out?"
Theo smirked and chuckled lightly, “You can be quite cheeky when you want to be.” He muttered, examining the picture again.
(Hey, I just wanted to say that I'm taking a break for a couple days to deal with school work and a broken heart. I'll be back after the weekend is over and I might drop in once or twice but I can't promise anything. I'll be back, though.)
(that's totally fine, take your time. I hope you feel better about the broken heart :) )
(hey, I’m back)
(yeah me too. sorry I was gone i had a busy weekend and then i guess i just needed to recharge before I responded)
A small, silly smile took over as Danny barely scooted closer because of the friendly comment. If Theo continued on like this, things would be running smoothly in no time–well, as smoothly as such things like this could get.
Theo looked up and smiled back, almost goofily before he looked down and his serious working face took over again. He spread the papers out around him, packing the two he’d already looked at in one pile, “Okay, can you tell me about one more and then I think we can move on.”
Sighing, Danny chewed lightly at his bottom lip, "Um…" Looking at the other pictures, something made the boy–man, anxious. The feeling made him quickly shake his head. He was shutting off, once more.
“That’s okay. You’ve done well today anyway,” Theo placed all the papers in a neat pile then stood to place them on the desk once again, “Thank you for telling me all you did, Danny.”
Danny blushed, not used to praise for something so easy for other people, such as talking, at all. The boyish man just nodded, making a small noise of recognition.
