@KeepingItReal

The voice was extremely quiet and soft. Hmm… My name is Xiomara Villanueva. A Demon Warrior. Who are you? Also, I am sorry for yelling.

@gracehustle

Again the words echoed in his brain, though they did seem calmer this time. Xiomara, as they introduced themselves as, didn’t seem like a threat, even if Matthew had just really met them in his head.
My name is Matthew, Matthew Lord to be exact. I’m a human.

As he talked in his mind, he tried to make his voice louder, though it didn’t seem to be working. He floated until he was against the wall and put his head in his hands. This was really messing with him. Already he didn’t know if they could hear every one of his thoughts, or what a Demon Warrior even was. The thought of documenting all of this didn’t pop into his head right away, but when it did he scrambled to work, scribbling down everything they had said and his assumptions.

If you don’t mind me asking, what is a Demon Warrior? Are there more like you? Is your race hostile?

@KeepingItReal

Why are you asking so many questions? Xiomara sighed and laughed. Demon Warrior's are the protectors of the planet Crown. Yes, we are hostile. But I am the only one who isn't. All I am doing is trying to stop the war between them and your kind.

@gracehustle

The word ‘war’ bounced around in his head even as she stopped talking and he was immediately confused and worried. From how he imagined the Demon Warriors, if there was a war it wouldn’t be pretty. Earth wasn’t exact ally prepared to be crushed by aliens. Matthew continued to scribble things down, question after question popping into his head to ask his new companion in his head.
I’m a scientist, it’s my job to ask questions and figure things out. Plus, I’m curious, it’s not every day you get a person talking to you in your head.

His words had a bit of pride with them and he seemed happy to be able to tell someone he was a scientist that didn’t already know.
Can I ask you a few more questions Xiomara? Does your kind have genders? I feel bad calling you it or they, unless that’s what you go by. Why does your kind want a war with us? What do you look like?

@KeepingItReal

I am a female. Everyone goes by male or female. Your kind killed my kind. Humans killed my father, but I don't hold grudges. My mother does. And for your last question, you must come here to find out.

@gracehustle

He nodded to himself, almost forgetting she wasn’t in the room with him. He let himself float back into the middle of the room and flipped upside down as he wrote, sketching rough pictures of what they might look like.
What do you mean humans killed your father? There have been no recorded deaths of your kind that I know of. Could you at least give me a vague description of what you look like?

Matthew was still trying to get his voice to sound as loud as hers did in his head, succeeding in getting it only a fraction louder than before. Talking to her in his mind made his head hurt and soon he had to put the papers down, pressing his hands to the side of his head to try to get rid of the massive headache that appeared in an instant. He didn’t know if she was getting the same effect she was but he knew it hurt. Maybe the human brain just wasn’t up to the work it took to speak through his head.

@KeepingItReal

We look exactly like you. That's how he was killed. Someone figured out he wasn't human and some gang shot him in the head. I am the only one that looks different. I have horns.

@gracehustle

I’m guessing the kind is way more powerful than us, aren’t you?

The improvement to the volume in his head didn’t last long, and instead he seemed to get quieter. Pressing his eyes shut, he shook his head, sighing in defeat when he couldn’t take it anymore.
I’m sorry Xiomara, I… I don’t think my brain is used to this form of communication, I’m getting a massive headache. I’ll see if our ship can make a detour to your planet but I don’t think I can talk to you much longer, at least right now. I’ll try to talk to you again if my head stops pounding but I don’t know how this whole communication works, talk later?

Sending the message mentally was starting to make his head pound worse and he floated till he hit his small cot in the corner of the room, sighing again in defeat as he thought of where headache medicine might be.

@KeepingItReal

Okay…I will talk to you later, Nathan. I hope you feel better. Xiomara's heart started to pound fast. Keep yourself under control, Xiomara.

@gracehustle

A tiny smile twitched at his lips and he corrected her. His tone held a lightheartedness to it, at least he hoped it did, he didn’t want to think he was angry or anything.
Its Matthew, though I’ll answer to almost any name.

With that, he sat up and made his way out of the room to hunt down both the captain to talk to him about where they were heading and some medicine to help take the pounding away. As he made his way around the ship his mind wandered to what Xiomara’s planet might be like, and how powerful her kind might be.

@gracehustle

(XDXD Its fine, he’s cool with really being called anything so being called Nathan isn’t crazy)

His cheeks flushed at her last comment and he couldn’t help but mess with his hair like he did when he was nervous and awkward. Matthew didn’t say anything back and instead went and got the medicine. He checked in with the captain and he would gladly stop at whatever planet he needed to. Now, all he needed to do was find what planet Xiomara was from, after he took a nice long nap that was.

@gracehustle

After he passed out on his cot, Matthew slept for a few hours. The talking in his mind definitely took a toll on him, waking up felt good though and he felt quite a lot better than he did before the nap. He didn’t try to talk to his newfound friend for another hour, deciding to eat and be productive before sitting down in his room again. This time he had headache medicine with him in case it got bad again. He pulled his papers into his lap and grabbed a pen as well, ready to write. Trying to concentrate on Xiomara again, he tried to send a mental message through, though he could tell it didn’t do anything. Panic set in after a few failed attempts and he worried he would never hear from her again, though a tiny sliver of him hoped she would try to talk to him again soon.

@gracehustle

The sudden response scared him and he jumped, a bright smile appearing on his face.
Xiomara! You’re back! I was trying to figure out how to talk to you, but I couldn’t get it to work, thank goodness you know how.

He relaxed on his cot again once he settled down and started drawing sketches and writing, already wishing he was able to go to this mysterious planet right away. It wouldn’t take long to get there flounce he knew where it was, but the waiting was making him impatient. And if this was the way to stop a intergalactic war, the sooner he got there to figure things out, he better. Even a scrawny and shy scientist like him could help, he decided.

I have another question for you Xiomara, where exactly is your planet?

@gracehustle

Pink and blue swirls, thousand miles away. Got it.

He scribbled down the information down quickly and floated to his door, making his way down to the captain and telling him. All he could do now was wait to get to the planet and hope it wasn’t too late to stop the war. For some reason he trusted Xiomara, even though he hadn’t seen her, and didn’t know if she was going to eat him or anything like that. As he made his was back to his cabin, he talked to her again. The door was still open from when he left and he slipped in, shutting it behind himself as he got in. No one would be able to hear the conversations since they were in his head if he did leave the door open, but he liked the privacy the door gave him.
Alright, we’re stopping at your planet. Please don’t let us get shot out of the sky or anything, I don’t want to die on a different planet, dying on Earth sounds a lot better.

@KeepingItReal

Okay…hold on. I am going to send you an image. It's going to put you in a lot of pain so I want you to bite down on something. I am going to show you where you need to land without getting shot at. A loud whine filled the air again but this time, it ten times louder than before. Xiomara created an image of cobalt blue pad with spikes around it. This is where you need to land. Ignore the spikes around it. It's for…certain purposes.

@gracehustle

He listened to her when she said to bite down on something, grabbing his pillow and stuffing a corner of it in his mouth. The pain was still unbearable, even with something to bite onto and he clutched his head again. The whine in the air made his ears pop and he could barely handle it, his eyes pressed shut as tight as they could go. When the picture popped into his head though, it was crystal clear. Like a thought his own mind made. Blindly, he grabbed his paper and pen and started sketching what it looked like. He took the pillow out of his mouth and nodded.
That hurt, but I got the picture. Thank you Xiomara. I’ll be sure to land there when we arrive, please don’t get us killed, I’m trusting you.

@KeepingItReal

No problem. I can't wait to meet you, Matthew. That reminds me, I should make something for you. Xiomara smiled and ran back into the castle and teleported into her room.

@gracehustle

For me? I, I really don’t need anything, just visiting an alien planet and learning more about your species is enough.

He smiled anyway and went back to his drawing. The picture on the paper not nearly as good as the one she showed him in his mind. It worked though, and it would get the point across when he showed it to the captain so he knew where to land. Laying back on his bed, Matthew opened his eyes for a minute before closing them again so he could think.
