Ateris was not bothered by the human trailing after it. Instead, it was almost as if Ateris saw nothing but the crates. Onlookers could see as its shape seemed to change, becoming more spiky and ‘deadly’, as one might consider. Finally, without warning it darted out at the crates. Shots were fired but the creature didn’t care.
It only wanted the crates.
Whiteout backed up slightly when the shots rang out, and more. And more. And even more. He was more surprised though that the creature didn’t care..and it also run particularly fast, so it meant he stood no chance with it before regarding his previous encounter.
For now, he stood back to see what its goal was. And maybe made a little hole in the ground to hopefully not catch one of the stray bullets with himself.
Ateris ran forwards and crashed right into the crates, smashing them open, splinters flying everywhere. It opened what seemed to be jaws and took a good mouthful of the vials that had fallen out of the crates (miraculously not breaking) and turned away, back to Whiteout. It grabbed Whiteout again, darting back into the trees they had been in previously.
((Added an M warning because Ateris isn’t a nice or wholesome character as you probably know. We might have some stalkers though.))
((Understandable have a nice day))
Whiteout gasped out. He wasn’t quite used to; you know, getting snatched out of your hiding spot by an eldritch horror. As it pounded through the trees, he dug his fingers into the arm of the creature, unable to see where they were going but not wanting to fall either.
Ateris finally slowed down. It did not seem bothered by Whiteout. Though it did not stop running, and slowed to a walk, eventually moving through some trees and bushes, and arriving into what could be considered a shelter. The sky peaked through the tops of the trees above them, and Ateris dropped the human, not caring how he landed.
Ateris curled its tail and hopped back to fours, before opening its jaw and there was a whole lot of noise before vials with lime green liquid were dumped out onto the floor. Ateris demonstrated some sort of matter manipulation ability, and its lower jaw seemed to expand to accommodate the vials, like a pelican, but once they were out it went back to normal.
It had lowered itself over the vials, just looking at them not paying attention to the human just yet.
Whiteout struggled to his feet, though from the sheer surprise at being snatched by the thing and not being in a familiar place they shook slightly. He slowly grabbed his handgun, pointing it to the creature, taking aim..
Ateris snapped its neck over to the direction of Whiteout. Red eyes peered at him as a low rumble emerged from its throat - if it even had a rumble. Before reaching forwards and attempting to bat the gun from his hands.
The move succeeded, as Whiteout was in no position to dodge, and the creature was much too fast. He flinched back, falling down and forced to look at the creature who was much taller than him. Whiteout shuddered, not liking this at all.
Ateris seemed to exhale and inhale - it had no visible nostrils, but the holes in its skin seemed to serve that purpose, as the ‘breaths’ in the cold air were visible. It stared down the smaller creature for a moment before turning away and lowering itself; then extending its limbs and began to gather materials. Grasses, wood, whatever it could. It had them all in a pile and it looked at the pile. Finally, a voice escaped the creature. It was neither male nor female, but it wasn’t a frightening voice, either. Depending on your definition, anyways.
“Human. Start fire?” It spoke, as if it hadn’t done so in a while.
Whiteout seemed to not understand, at first. But he did, as he sat up, looking at the ground. Avoiding eye contact. He was struggling to believe that such an eldritch like creature could produce such a..calm voice. Then again..that woman.
That wasn’t a woman, Whiteout realized, as his heartbeat suddenly spiked again. He heard myths and legends, of creatures which lured their prey by speaking like a human.
Was he..
He slowly looked up to the creature. “Fire?” He asked.
The creature shook its upper body - the longer thorns around its neck shook with it. It wasn’t like a ‘no’ sort of shake. Ateris dipped its head momentarily before responding again, voice much clearer, and more vocal. “You start fire for me. Now.” It looked down at him, even ‘sitting down’, it was much taller.
Whiteout looked at the pile of materials, meeting gaze with the creature, then back again. He realized the creature ordered him to start a fire. But why? This creature seemed to not need that sort of warmth.
But he had seen how the bullets seemed to have no effect on the creature, so he scuttled over. Pulling a lighter from his pocket, he clicked it a few times. It took some time, but soon there was a small fire flickering on the pile. He backed away, sitting down again, unsure of what the creature was going to do. If it wanted to kill him..it would’ve done so already. Or maybe he was just getting saved for later.
Ateris looked at the ‘lighter’ with interest, watching the human closely. Once he’d returned to his spot, it looked at the night sky. It got up, and spoke a command. “Stay.”
With that, it left the area, only returning with a chunk of something in an extra pair of arms it had seemed to develop. It was meat..most likely from an animal. It seemed to set up something above the fire to cook the meat. Surprisingly, this creature seemed intelligent to the outside eye, but to Ateris, intelligent was an underestimate.
Whiteout sniffed, looking at the meat. So it knew how to cook..but not how to start a fire. He noted that. Or maybe it did, but wanted to see how he did it. He would probably never figure it out. He backed himself against a tree..and had the though of how this creature got the meat..and where did it come from?
The creature, after some time took the meat from the structure and separated the chunks a bit. “Meat, come from deer. You eat.” It shifted its tail, the spikes rattling like a snake as it curled around itself. Maybe it was coincidence that it had just said where the meat was from. Or maybe..nah, it was a coincidence.
Whiteout watched the creature closely. He was a bit wary of the creature, after all. Maybe it was lying. But he also didn’t know where he was. He didn’t know how long he’d be out here for. He had to survive, and survival meant finding food and water - and this creature seemed to realize that. For now, he stayed silent.
Ateris took a large leaf and wrapped it around the piece it had separated. It handed to the human, while throwing its own piece into its mouth and ‘eating’ it. It looked expectantly at the human.
Whiteout glanced up at the creature, then what it held. "Uhh..is this..for me?" He questioned it. It spoke his language, so it must know what he's saying.
((The roleplay that will not die))
Ateris rattles its tail, nodding. "Keep strength up. Eat means strength, no?" It seemed to ask for confirmation.
"Yes, but-" He didn't trust something made by a creature that possibly killed a town+ more, and shrugged off bullets like it was nothing. Whiteout was looking at an alien. Something not from his world. This world, he meant.
"I'm not hungry." He just said.
