"You'll liiiike it~" Lucas grinned a little brighter, his voice a mere silky purr by now. He pushed the bowl a little closer to Melissa. "C'mon, Mel. For me?" He fluttered his eyelashes teasingly. "Just one bite?"

Knowing she would end up eating more in the end, she sighed picking up a fork. "I hate you sometimes." She mumbled, knowing he knew she didn't really. "One bite, no more." She told him, knowing she wasn't being accurate.

"You know you love me~" Lucas grinned and took another bite. "So… do you like it?" He asked, looking up at Melissa again. "Don't tell me all my efforts were futile."

Oh man she did, but she tried so hard not to show it. "It's alright." She hummed, glancing up to him. He would know her actual feelings, and call her out for it, but she wasn't willing to admit she was wrong. "Though this is for you, so I don't want to take your food."

"I can tell you like it, and like I said, there's no way I can finish all this. The portions are massive here." Lucas stuck another bite of pasta in his mouth. "You're welcome to share, Mel. Technically speaking, since you're not allowing me to pay, it's yours anyways."

"Stop it! Your killing me here." She groaned, pressing her hands to her face. "I'm trying so hard not to eat right now, why do you have to be so tempting?" She asked, only sounding fake as she complained.

Lucas froze, processing. "Why are you trying not to eat, Mel? I… it's good for you. Aren't you hungry?" He seemed worried now.

The temperature seemed to have dropped a few degrees in the room, and Melissa looked up to him. "Oh it's nothing, just trying to stay a healthy weight." She hummed, trying to relax her nerves.

"You are a healthy weight, Mel. Who put the idea in your head that you aren't?" Lucas set his fork down and watched Melissa with a great deal of concern.

Her stomach churned, and she shook her head slightly. "I said I was just trying to stay a healthy weight." She hummed, smiling to him. "It's really no big deal, why are you worried about this?"

"Because you're stunning, and in no way do you need to lose any weight." He took her hand gently. "I don't want you thinking anything different, okay? I care about your wellbeing a lot."

Face flushing, she replayed his words in her head. 'Because you're stunning…' She repeated, feeling her shoulders relax, and her whole body release the tension from before. "Y-you… alright. If that's what you want me to do, I'll do it." She whispered, looking down at their hands.

Lucas nodded. "I want you to take care of yourself, okay?" He handed her a fork again and continued eating. He allowed their fingers to remain linked together.

Though she still didn't eat. The chills she had gotten from the conversation, made her appetite diminish. "I'm really not hungry though, I promise you I'm not." She whispered, not setting the fork aside.

"Mel, please… just a little bit more?" Lucas pleaded. His cheeks were lightly flushed as well. "You only had one bite…"

Sighing, she nodded softly. She didn't have the energy to argue with him, and never liked to anyways. "I'll eat a little bit." She scooped some up with her fork. "But really, I'm not very hungry."

"Thanks, Mel…" Lucas kept eating, seeming temporarily satisfied with Melissa's answer. At least she was going to eat some. "Where do you want to go after this?"

"I…I don't know. Where do you wanna go?" She asked softly, eating rather slowly, so it seemed as if she was eating more. '19, 20, 21…' She counted her chewing, knowing she needed to stop.

"Um… What time is it?" He asked, eating a bit more of the pasta after he asked. He was starving after the months of hardly eating, and he was definitely willing to eat. He really wanted Melissa to eat too, though.

"Dunno," She hummed, setting her fork aside. She didn't want to let go of his hand, so she used her eating hand to pull her phone from her pocket. "Almost 3 o'clock." Mentioning, she glanced at her lock screen, causing her to smile. It was a picture of her and Lucas a few years ago, when they had gone to the amusement park together. It had been the day she had really fallen for him. The day he first held her hand.

"Mm… we've got some time, then." Lucas thought for a few seconds. "I guess we could go to the park, then? There really isn't much around here, to be honest." Lucas remembered the day at the amusement park as well. He'd held onto her hand on some big rollercoaster 'so she wouldn't be scared', but they both knew full well that he was the one who was afraid.

Melissa had been distracted by the memory, only humming in response to his question. Tucking her phone away, she lifted her gaze up to him. "Whatever you'd like to do, is fine with me." She smiled brightly, glancing back down to their hands. Ironically, she found today rather similar to the picture she had on her phone.

"Alright, let's head out, then." Once they'd paid and finished their food, Lucas led Melissa out of the diner, never letting go of her hand. "Sometimes I come here just to get away from my dad. It's nice, you know? Peaceful." He hummed softly to himself as they walked.

Melissa looked up, and around with a fond expression. "I don't even need to guess why. I love this park, a lot of good things have happened here." Smiling brightly, she took a step closer to her with a warm smile. "We really need to go on walks together more often, I like this."

"Yeah, I agree." Lucas returned the warm smile and kept walking. "We should go sit by the creek. I go there all the time." He veered to his right, pulling Melissa along with him.
