Louis stifled a grin and pushed himself away from the table to follow, his arms swinging idly by his sides.
Louis stifled a grin and pushed himself away from the table to follow, his arms swinging idly by his sides.
He padded back out into the brilliant sun, feet skidding and sinking into the soft, cool dirt. They were stained brown with earth. "The barn is a far walk, but scenic," Marius spoke.
Louis hazily wondered if he should remove his own shoes, but shook himself out of his stupor, trailing after Marius like a lost dog.
His sunbleached hair took on a glistening look under the daylight. At some point when they were crossing a belt of sparse woods, Marius hurried up, to where the barn sat in the center of a tree-sheltered clearing.
Louis sighed contentedly, letting the cool shadows slip over his skin. He raised a hand to block out the sun, though rays of light still spilled through the gaps between his fingers.
Oh my god my uterus is killing me )
"Watch this," Marius grinned, "It's a scottish trick." He pulled his hands to cup around his mouth, and call out a series of eerie notes—it seemed to pique the curiosity of the bovine masses, and they came prancing down the hill in a flock of shuffling white towards their shephard.
(Oh god……. is it the Red Sea of blood?)
Louis blinked, astonished, before a huge grin broke through his surprised expression. “Show me,” he asked, raising a hand. “How do you do that?”
XD no. My cycle disappeared for some reason, but I still get cramps galore. Going to the gynecologist next week 😬 )
"Do you have powerful lungs?" He asked with a twinkle in his eye.
(Eek good luck..)
“I would say so,” he answered with a lopsided grin.
Yyyyyyeaaahh )
"Alright, did'ja catch the notes I sang? Do you need me to repeat?"
“Just one more time,” he requested, shifting on his feet.
He drew in a deep breath, cupped his hands, and called out those ringing notes once more.
Louis felt an odd thrill go through him, and raised his hands in an attempt to imitate the call.
Marius laughed lightly, as the flock of sheep swarmed at their feet, bleating their hellos to their caretakers. Marius knelt down, taking the face of one to scratch.
Jane gasped and raced into the study to alert her husband. "John, someone is here," she told him, looking down at her dress. "Do I look alright?" (https://www.pinterest.com/pin/107664247328554523/)
"You look fantastic," he chuckled softly. "As always."
She blushed. "You flatter me, John. Might I remind you someone is waiting at the door?"
"Mm, yeah," he breathed, and hurried to open the tall door. Beyond was a stocky, round-bodied mass of a general.
"Sir Clinton," John bowed, "You look in good health,"
"Am so, Mr. André." He chuckled lightheartedly.
Jane stood behind John and curtseyed. "Hello, sir. It is truly a pleasure to meet a man of valor such as yourself."
"Ah!" General Clinton exclaimed—his jowels trembled, drooping flabs off his cheeks thanks to the gravity of age. "Mrs. André, it is a pleasure to meet the fabled siren." He chuckled, taking her hand to kiss as a gesture of respect.
"Hah," John chuckled softly, "That she is…"
Jane blushed. "You are too kind," she insisted. "I'm merely a humble girl."
"Not anymore, as the wife of John," Clinton chuckled. "Ah, please. I expect you've prepared a lovely meal, Mrs. Jane," he walked into the house—he kept his coat on, as it was his formal wear.
"Indeed I have, sir. Would you like me to take your coat?" she offered.
"Oh, no," he gently declined, "We keep these on for dinners like this. If anything, to show off our military metals," Clinton chuckled.
John laughed. Jane could hear the anxiety in his voice.
"Ah, I see. Brave men such as yourselves deserve to show off your valor," she said, looping her arm through John's and smiling up at him.
Clinton laughed softly, "Your wife can flatter well," he spoke to John.
"Yessir," John answered with a small smile. The General left to go sit in the dining room.
Jane looked at him worriedly. "Am I doing alright?" she asked quietly.
Marius laughed lightly, as the flock of sheep swarmed at their feet, bleating their hellos to their caretakers. Marius knelt down, taking the face of one to scratch.
Louis watched them with an odd twinge of guilt…. just minutes ago, he’d been ready to take and slaughter one of these animals.
"Ahh, my babies." Marius laughed like a little kid, kissing their soft noses.
