Bailey watched him for another moment. "Why do you think the universe wanted me alive?"
Bailey watched him for another moment. "Why do you think the universe wanted me alive?"
George turned the question over in his head. "Because you didn't deserve death, and there was a.. better life ahead. And in the future, you would have a chance of making someone else as happy as you always wished to be. A chance of.. redemption? I don't know."
He turned this idea over in his head. Looked at his feet. "Makes sense.."
"I'm glad you think so…. are you glad that you made it out?" The question was whispered, soft and hesitant.
"What?" He whispered back, smiling.
"We're married," she mumbled against his neck.
"Mm.." He chuckled, "We are."
"And I'm pregnant."
John's face softened at the reminder. "Yes.."
"And I love you."

Bailey crossed his arms, "Yes."

Bailey crossed his arms, "Yes."
“Good.” George smiled again, relief softening his features.
Bailey shut the window and sat back down on the couch. "I need to start looking at homes," he spoke. "Or learn how to build one."
George was surprised at the immediate panicked reaction his heart seemed to have to this statement. He leaned back against the wall, chewing on his lip. “Or….. you could just stay here..?”
He looked back at George. "You're sure you'd want that?"
He lifted one shoulder, feigning indifference. “I don’t mind. I’m alone in my own house, usually, so it’s nice to have someone…”
"You like my company?" Bailey smiled.
“Of course!” He sounded surprised that Bailey would think otherwise. “Do you like mine?”
"I appreciate it," was all he let on. But in the words of logistical commander, that was an equal reciprocation of gratitude.
George approached him and perched on the a of the sofa, beside him. “Glad to hear it.”
He flicked his eyes to the fireplace. At this time of year, it was dnagerous to go an hour without a fire. "I miss the summertime,"
George nodded. “I miss the spring.”
"What?" He whispered back, smiling.
"We're married," she mumbled against his neck.
"Mm.." He chuckled, "We are."

She lifted her head and kissed his lips in a long, lingering motion.
"If I remain living with you, I'd still like to build a house," he rubbed his hooked nose, "If anything to sell. Preferrably to live in, if you're not too attached to this one," he looked at George.

"Mau," John's cat complained from the floor. They were late to fill his bowl and he wasn't going to let that slide.

He was attached to his house, but he gave a small shrug.
Bailey sank back in the couch and closed his eyes. "Merry Christmas Eve,"

Jane moaned softly. "Boey…"
“Merry Christmas Eve,” he echoed, eyes sweeping over the other man’s features.
