Amelie nodded; presently her gaze landed on a window, and her mechanical jaw dropped open. "What is that?" she breathed.
Amelie nodded; presently her gaze landed on a window, and her mechanical jaw dropped open. "What is that?" she breathed.
Samantha glanced at were Amelie was looking, then quickly huried over to the window and closed it.
"We will come to this, Amelie, but not yet." She turned back.
Amelie walked backwards, stopping an inch away from the workable. "Understand. So what do we do?"
Samantha walked over to a shelf, pulling a book down. It looked hand made, with notes scribble every where.
"We start learning."
Amelie nodded and sat on a stool nearby. "What is that?" she asked, pointing to the book; she quickly tucked her hand away though, remembering it was rude to point.
"This is a book on how to be human." Samantha chuckled to herself.
"My mother and I wrote it when I was younger."
Amelie rifled through the pages, scanning the pages as she went. "I like it a lot," she said after a while.
Samantha smiled, turning to Amelie. She had been trying to bring a bit more order to the workroom.
"That's good! Is it helpful?"
"It's interestingful!" No, wrong. "It's… very interesting."
"Very good," Samantha noted.
"You're learning quickly."
"So I am." She went to the next page, devouring every fact this book was feeding her. An easy half an hour later she'd finished, and set it on a nearby desk. "Thank you for the book, Samantha."
"Your welcome." Samantha had finished tidying up, and walked over to Amelie.
((oh my god I'm so sorry, my exams are doing me in))
"What now?" she asked Samantha, following her with her stare.
(You're perfectly fine!)
Samantha glanced at the window.
"Well, it's getting dark out. We should rest for the night."
(haa thank you :)
Amelie considered this. "Alright." And with that she sat on the floor, her legs crossing with a loud clack.
Samantha smiled to herself, stepping into the other room to change.
Amelie discreetly watched her go before getting to her feet. She silently slid over to the transparent square in the wall, hand outstretched. Her eyes flitted back and forth with the people walking to and fro, talking and laughing and busy.
Samantha changed, slipping into a night dress. Thinking for a moment, she pulled a second one out for Amelie.
(You know, you can have something else going on beside me and Fenris's thing in Clockmaker's Daughter)
Hands pressed against the glass, Amelie let out a content sigh. "Beautiful…"
Samantha stepped out of her room.
"Amelie, I-" She stopped, then smiled, walking over to Amelie. She place her hand on Amelie's shoulder.
(Sorry!! I should get back to regular posting around the 5th of July)
With a creaky jolt Amelie twisted around. "Please, can I try?" she whispered.
(I'M. SO. SORRY.)
Amelie shook her head.
"It's late; you need to rest." She held the second dress out to Amelie.
"Here. Change into this."
(It's fine! Don't worry, we all get busy)
Amelie silently looked down at what Samantha was giving her. It was white and flat and seemed useless. "What is this?" she asked excitedly in the face of something new.
