“Don’t you have somewhere to be?” Daisy reminded him, raising her eyebrows.
He had looked distant for a moment, and he had been staring at her. Why was he staring at her? That gaze of his just flustered her, not that she would ever tell him that. No, she didn’t need the man to know what she found so attractive about him. That would not go well for her.
“I’d rather be with you,” the words escaped Arvil’s lips before he could hold them back, but he pretended he had meant to say them. His expression hadn’t changed. “And I’m going to my floor, too. So why not go there with you?”
That was a lie, of course. The conference room was on the second floor, but he couldn’t make himself want to leave her.
“Oh. Well, then, I guess we’re going back up,” Daisy murmured, giving him a small smile. She turned away to step toward the elevator again, pressing the call button for it.
“Up and up we go,” Arvil muttered, eyes following her movement. Maybe he shouldn’t be in a closed space with her. What if he did something stupid—like pull her in for a kiss? It had been a long while since they last locked lips. He was starting to crave it again, and that was not a good thing.
Daisy’s stuck her hands in the pockets of her blazer and looked up at the numbers as the elevator came down for them. She could feel his eyes on her back, and it was having a bad effect on her. It was making her want to pull him against her and back herself against a wall. And make out. Heavily. Maybe she should take the stairs…
When the elevator door finally opened, Arvil followed Daisy inside, removing his eyes from her with a rather painful attempt. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
He shouldn’t lose control. Not again. Not when things were going so smooth between them.
“It’s so quiet,” Daisy whispered, simply to break the heated silence. She leaned against the wall and glanced over at Arvil from the corner of her eye.
Arvil blinked out of his thoughts. “Yeah, sorry, I was thinking,” he muttered, leaning against the wall and crossing his arms over his chest.
Daisy hummed, nodding slowly. “Yeah… Me, too,” she murmured.
Making up this lie to be with her for a few minutes was a terrible idea. It was a horrible idea.
“Shouldn’t have said that,” Arvil muttered to himself, running a hand through his hair. “Stupid…”
“Arvil… Why would you think that? You’re not stupid at all,” Daisy murmured, giving him a curious look.
Arvil shot Daisy a look. Really? Before he could answer, the elevator door opened. Arvil breathed in relief.
"Well, I suppose I'll see you later, Daisy," Arvil murmured. "Take care."
Daisy sighed and shook her head. “Sure. I’ll grab my stuff and then go, I guess.”
Arvil stayed in the elevator, nodding. "Go. It might close any second."
“I’ll see you later, Arvil,” Daisy murmured, stepping out of the elevator and making her way to his office.
[TIME SKIP: A COUPLE OF DAYS; WEDNESDAY]
Arvil ran a hand through his hair, exhaling deeply. He fixed his red and black button up shirt and the black t-shirt he was wearing before he reached over and rung the bell.
They weren’t supposed to meet up today, but Arvil really wanted to see Daisy. And since they needed to pick a venue, Arvil decided, why not? So here he was, on a Wednesday evening, in front of his fake fiancée’s house with the intent of taking her out to dinner.
Daisy had worked from home that day, so she hadn’t gotten dressed or brushed her hair yet. So when Arvil rang the doorbell, she hurriedly pulled her hair up into a ponytail, then twisted it around into a bun. She rubbed her eyes beneath her glasses, then adjusted them on her face.
“I’m coming!” she called, already on her way to the door. Upon opening it and seeing Arvil, she blushed. He really has to come today? When she was in her pajamas? “Oh. Hey, Arvil…”
Even when she was in her pajamas, looking messy, she was still beautiful, Arvil decided. But she was blushing, which was strange. Was she blushing because he saw her like that? It was cute. So cute.
“Hello yourself, darling,” Arvil greeted with a slight purr. “Mind joining me for dinner, beautiful?”
“Oh, stop. You’re such a flirt,” Daisy sighed, rolling her eyes. His comment didn’t fail to make her blush harder, though. He had such a way with words, didn’t he? “Let me change. You can come in while you wait, if you want.”

When Arvil noticed her blush deepening, his smirk did, too. “Glad you didn’t say no,” he chuckled, stepping in her apartment, referring to her shirt. “Those are some adorable pajamas, though.”
Daisy shook her head and ignored the comment. She closed the door behind him and started for her room. “Should I dress up or wear something a little more casual?”
Arvil shrugged. “Wear something casual,” he said. “I’m taking you to that shawarma joint that recently opened. I went there once for a meeting and the food is delicious.”
“Sounds good,” Daisy said before disappearing into her room. When she came out a few minutes later, her hair was down, her makeup (though simple) was done, and she was dressed. “All right. Let’s go.”

Arvil's eyes observed her, looking at her head to toe before a smirk took over his lips. "Looking pretty, love," he winked before he walked to his shoes and slipped them on. "Okay, c'mon."
“Well, thanks. I try,” Daisy said, determining to not be flustered by him tonight. “To what do I owe the honor of dinner with you?”
