Daisy set the last of her food in the bag and picked it up as she stood. At least she had eaten enough before getting kicked out.
"I'm sure I could find my way out on my own. You don't have to walk me," she murmured to Arvil, her voice soft like she was saying it in love.
Noah snorted as he sorted through the file in his hands. “Please don’t bother pretending to be in love with each other,” he muttered. “I already know.”
Arvil quirked an eyebrow. “Ah, of course you do.”
“Did you honestly really think I wouldn’t?” Noah sounded insulted, but it was hard to tell. “As your assistant, it’s my duty to know everything that might jeopardize the company.”
“I always thought it was because you just couldn’t get enough of my handsomeness,” Arvil grinned. Noah sighed. “Well, you can walk her out, then.”
Daisy raised her eyebrows at Noah’s words. He knew? How did he know? Were they really that obvious?
“I can walk myself out, thank you. No need for one of you to walk me out,” she repeated herself. “Unless I can have a tour?”
Arvil wasn't surprised about Noah's knowledge of their fake engagement. He was there when Arvil was talking to Daisy for the first time. That, and the man was extremely good at keeping an eye out on Arvil, especially because of his notorious nature. However, Noah was loyal to him. He worked for Arvil, not for his father. Therefore, their secret was safe.
"I'm afraid a tour isn't possible," Arvil answered, taking the report from Noah and going over it himself, dropping the pretense. "Noah joins me during meetings. Perhaps next time."
Daisy clicked her tongue but nodded submissively. "That's all right. I'll just head out now, then. I'll see you sometime, Arvil."
Arvil looked at her for a few minutes, tilting his head to the side as he looked over at her.
"Tomorrow," he promised. "I'll give you a tour tomorrow. Thank you for bringing lunch for me, Daisy."
Daisy blinked, raising her eyebrows. That was not what she had been expecting…
"No problem. I'll see you tomorrow, then," she murmured with a tiny smile as she crossed the room to the door. "Goodbye, Arvil. Goodbye, Noah."
“You won’t need to check yourself in at the reception anymore,” Arvil said to her as he watched her leave. “Goodbye, Daisy.”
“All right,” Daisy said simply, nodding once before she slipped out the door. Once she was out of sight, she shook her head as if to clear it. For some reason, she was looking forward to the next day. And she had no idea why.
[TIME SKIP: THE NEXT DAY]
Arvil had his schedule cleared the next day. He finished his work on time and rescheduled the meetings at the times he figured Daisy would drop by. He had, after all, promised her he would give her a tour. The least he could do was clear his schedule.
“Good work today, sir,” Noah said in a sarcastic tone. “You finished your work on time with no complaints. That deserves a celebration.”
Arvil rolled his eyes.
Daisy sighed as she glanced at the clock. It was nearly lunch time, and she had yet to get anything to eat. And she was sure Arvil hadn’t, either. That man… She shook her head with a sigh. He needed to learn better eating habits.
Closing her laptop, she pushed herself off her bed and headed to closet to look through her things. After deciding on a black and gray dress, she got dressed and brushed her hair. She settled for a light pink lip gloss to coat her lips and some mascara for her lashes before heading out the door.
Deciding to run a few tests on the app he was developing after having restored it to one of is its previous versions. It lagged a bit and the pixel quality was terrible, but it worked pretty well otherwise. Maybe if he created an additional app to work with it, possible a helping guide but also something to balance out the space…
Arvil broke out into a yawn, leaning back and stretching. He’d been coped up in his office for nearly the whole day and Noah was busy with his own dealings. He stifled another yawn and rested his head on the table. He’d take a small breather and then return to creating that app while he waited for…
(Hi, sorry, yeah.)
Daisy was actually let inside this time without question. It seemed Arvil was right when he told her that she would be. So, she found her way to the floor he was working on, then walked down the hall to his door.
She knocked before sticking her head inside. “Hey. I brought you lunch again.”
Arvil had dosed off. Usually he never fell asleep during work, but he decided to excuse himself that time. He had slept pretty late, after all. He had been trying to work on the game, and it wasn’t like there was anything for him to do.
“Hey. I brought you lunch again.”
Arvil’s eyes snapped open and he sat up straight, furrowing his eyebrows until he realized who it was by his door. Daisy. His fake fiancée. He sighed, running a hand through his messy hair.
“Daisy,” his voice was raspy, laced with sleepiness, but he was able to put on a smile. “You’re here. Come on in.”
Oh, he had been sleeping. And, gosh, that voice… Why did guys have to have such attractive voices when they woke up?
Daisy blinked, mentally shaking her head at herself, and stepped inside. “I got Chinese this time, a little bit of everything in case you didn’t like something.”
Arvil blinked at her, more so out of confusion than to dispel the lingering sleepiness. He cleared his throat.
“You know, you don’t exactly have to do all of that,” he furrowed his eyebrows, voice still hoarse. “I could easily get takeout from here. No need to spend your money on it.”
Daisy shrugged and sat down across from him, willing her cheeks not to heat up at his voice. Why did she have to always be so affected by guys’ voices?
“Then pay me back. It’s not that hard,” she said as she began pulling containers out of the bag.
Arvil stifled a yawn, resting his forehead against his palm on his table, closing his eyes for a second before he stood up.
“We can sit there,” he jerked his head towards the table in the middle of the room. There were two small couches on either side of it. “Eating here seems more of a business deal.”
Daisy raised her eyebrows before shrugging and picking the containers back up. “Sure, that’s fine,” she said as she stood and started to make her way over. “Long day?”
“Something like that,” Arvil responded, walking over and taking a seat next to her the second she sat down. He could have helped with the containers, but she seemed to have taken care of it. “I finished work as soon as I could.”
“You’re already done for the day? It’s barely even one o’clock,” Daisy mused, surprised. She shifted slightly when he sat next to her, wondering why he didn’t just see the couch on the other side. They were alone, they didn’t have to pretend to be close right now.
“Well,” Arvil sank in the couch, releasing a tired sigh. “I did promise my fiancée I’d give her a tour of my company. Couldn’t have anything in the way, now could I?”
“Yeah, but everything finished already? Geez… It’s like you actually want to see me,” Daisy joked sarcastically.
Arvil looked at her intently, tilting his head to the side. “Well… what if I did?” He murmured. “What if I did want to see you, Daisy?”
