Name: Jaciel Aster
Age: Seventeen
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual
Looks: Jace stands at about 6'1. He's gangly and thin, and every time he moves he projects awkwardness. He constantly slouches so as to draw less attention to himself, and when he's feeling particularly anxious, he'll pull up the hood of his jacket to hide his blue hair. He dyed it that way for two reasons: One, to disguise himself from any wandering travelers with connections to his mother, and two, because he finds it calming. It's the lightish blue of a clear sky, which he can often be found staring at to settle his nerves. As for the length, he keeps it deliberately just long enough to run his hands through, although he dislikes how the back sticks out because of this. His skin is fair, with a spattering of freckles across the bridge of his nose and collarbone. He's prone to sunburn because of this, which is why he generally enjoys travelling in colder regions. His jawline is clearly defined, but soft, and the shape of his face is longer than he'd like, but he's been told by many that's he's handsome.
Attire: His favorite outfit is a simple white undershirt with a jacket he's had for around four years. The jacket has a white hood, but the sleeves are varying colors of blue that form the pattern of a small pokeball on each sleeve. The sleeves end with a darker blue, just passing the center of his palm when left hanging. Along with the hoodie, he finds his gray-blue joggers to be the most comfortable, since the pockets are easy to reach and the fabric is easy to pull on and off. His shoes, too, are blue, resembling Vans with small velcro patches for convenience. He painted his crutches to match his hair and jacket, since he has an aesthetic and enjoys keeping to it. More often than not, his Comfy can be found dozing in his hair and looking very much like a flower crown.
Personality: Jaciel is truly the definition of a gentle soul. His past has left him mentally scarred and timid, but he tries his hardest to help others whenever possible. He looks down on himself for his disability out of habit, but he puts on an optimistic front when he's around others. Despite his fear, Jace is willing to sacrifice pretty much anything for what he considers to be important
Likes: Travelling, playing with his pokemon, eating at different places, talking to nice people, camping, listening to live music and drawing.
Dislikes: People who are close-minded, people cutting him off when he's speaking, people looking at him weird, being called names (even when meant endearingly), loud noises, seafood.
Ambitions: He wants to live his life the way he's always wanted to, without needing to care that he can't walk like everyone else.
Pokémon Crew: Glaceon, Comfy, Shinx
Hometown/Region: Born near Dendemille Town, Kalos
Background: He was born with spastic diplegia, a type of cerebral palsy that targets his legs and makes walking unassisted incredibly difficult. His father couldn't have cared less about Jaciel's condition, but his mother was intent on finding a way to "fix" him. This led to incredible tension between the two, until they eventually filed for a divorce. There was a battle to see who would be given full custody over Jaciel, and after several long months, his mother won. The court decreed that his father, an ice type gym leader in the Kalos region, didn't have the time to properly care for Jaciel. As a smaller family of two, Jaciel's mom and him travelled all over from region to region, seeking medical professionals who could help her son with his "condition." They all told her the same thing; there was nothing they could do for him. She soon gave up on medicine, and instead tried teaching Jace to ignore his disability, forcing him to walk around without his crutches and punishing him when he walked unnaturally or fell. When that inevitably failed, she took to criticizing the things he couldn't control, quickly turning into verbal abuse. School was an entirely different, lonely can of worms, since most of his peers thought he was mentally challenged because of his disability. That, and he moved around too much to ever settle and make friends. The only breaks Jace received were the blissful weekends he went to visit his dad. When he finally turned sixteen, his dad gave him a pokemon egg as a birthday present, saying that the egg would be helpful when he left to go on his journey. His mother was displeased, nearly taking the egg from Jaciel until he promised he'd try as hard as he could to walk "normally." She agreed to let him keep it, on the condition that he held his end of the bargain, and that he wouldn't leave on some fantastical pokemon journey until he could. Several months passed, chock full of nervous tension and quiet mental breakdowns, in which the egg—an eevee he named 'Grace'—hatched. The next time he was sent to his dad's house, he brought with him a bag of extra clothes, food, water, his phone and charger, and Grace's pokeball. He didn't intend on coming back. He told his dad of his plans, and he agreed it was for the best. He gifted to Jace several useful items, including a pokedex, and wished him well on his journey, asking that he kept in contact. Several more months passed, in which he evolved his eevee into a glaceon on a visit to his dad, and in which he found two more companions—a comfy (Clementine) and a shinx (Leon).
