You heard me, I need a pirate story as of right now because I started reading a new book (coincidentally about a high spirited group of diverse privateers sailing the seven seas kicking ass and taking names) and now my heart and soul yearn for the sea. If yours yearns also, please join.
Rules
- All of andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)'s rules, obv
- LGBTQ is cool
- I'd like for this to be long term, so please try to reply once a day
- Please be respectful and refrain from starting drama outside our characters
- Cussing is fine, just don't go totally overboard
So what do you think would happen in the RP
Is this One on One, and if not, can i join as well? Because i too have a yearning for pirates
I was actually imaging this would be a small group, so you're free to join @Icefire.
I have two plots in mind. Either the pirates raid a military town and steal the child of a really powerful marine (I can't remember what they're usually called and marine is close, I think) who starts gunning for them to get their kid back and cracking down on pirates/pirate towns forcing our merry band to either give the kid up or fight the sea military, or we have a kind of heist situation where the pirates have heard that there's a ship full of trouble at a dangerous fort and they need to infiltrate it, steal the ship, and leave before the commander catches and kills them.
Ooh either one sounds cool!
I'm down for doing either!
PIRATES?! Hell yeah, pirates! I'm all for it!
Cool, @Yamatsu and @UnseelieKing you can both join but I'll be closing the rp now because 5 is about as big as I think we can go. Everyone figure out which story they'd like best, and we can continue from there.
I like both ideas a lot, I'll be either the tie-breaker or side with the majority.
I kinda like the first one
I've been leaning towards the first one too
Hey, I'm going to have to drop out, i have too many other RPs (some I havent gotten a response for in days so I might need to bump) and just RL stuff, so. Sorry! Good luck!
(Sooooooooo since someone dropped out is this open? Or no? Sorry to be annoying I just love pirates)
(Sure! Welcome aboard, which plot option do you prefer?)
(Thank you so much! I think probably the first one)
Cool, looks like we'll be doing the first one!
The basic roles would be
- Marine's kid- UnseelieKing
- Captain -
- First mate/quartermaster* - Euric Knight
- Navigator* - Moxie
- Gunner* -
but the ones with asterisks are flexible if there's a position that seems better suited to your character
Could I be the marine's kid?
Sure, the position is yours.

Also, just fyi, this is going to be set during the golden age of piracy (1700s ish) so please keep your characters vaguely confined to that time period. Don't make their hobby playing computer games or thir outfit a t-shirt and jeans.
Can you explain what each role does? I have absolutely no clue.
Here's a brief guide
The captain is pretty recognizable, so I'll skip over that one.
The first mate (often combined with the quartermaster which is why they're lumped together here) was the captain's right hand and kind of the vice captain. If the captain died or was unable to act as captain, the first make would run the ship. He made sure the captain's orders were followed and the other crewmembers did what they were supposed to. He also inflicted any punishments that needed to be carried out.
The navigator (who's also called the sailing master) was in charge of tracking the ship's route, keeping it on course, and making sure everyone arrived at the desired destination. They kept track of all navigation equipment and were actually extremely valuable if they were good because of how crucial they were to getting the crew to whatever they wanted to steal.
The gunner (also called a master gunner, a gun captain, or a cannoneer) was the person in charge of all canons, guns, and ammunition on board the ship. They lead the crew of men working the canons and were relied upon to make sure they hit their targets accurately and reliably. Also a very important position on any pirate ship.
