Ashley's POV:
I sighed overdramatically and fell beside her. "I suppose… If you must."
Ashley's POV:
I sighed overdramatically and fell beside her. "I suppose… If you must."
Eden’s POV:
I rolled my eyes at Ashley but otherwise said nothing, staring into the ceiling.
“Three girls tried to pick a fight with me the other day,” I suddenly remembered, a scowl on my features. “Perhaps I haven’t been too harsh in my reign. People are forgetting how to behave.”
Ashley’s POV:
I blinked and turned my head to give my best friend a look. “Eden… What did you do this time?”
Eden's
"I didn't start it," I rolled my eyes. "I was nice. Then they got on my nerves."
Ashley’s POV:
“Dude, you’re going to end up getting suspended or something one day,” I sighed, looking back up at the ceiling. “Just make sure that you don’t get caught doing something you shouldn’t be…”
Eden's POV
I rolled my eyes.
"I didn't start it," I repeated. "And I only scared them."
Ashley:
“Hm… Okay… You wanna play a game or something? We could go play something in the Wii,” I suggested, glancing over at her again. “I just got the new ‘Just Dance’.”
Eden's POV:
I shrugged.
"I guess that sounds good, I guess."
(Skip?)
(Yes. xD)
(More Steed? Or some Cash fluff?)
(Let’s do something both~)
(Double date?!??!?)
(That sounds adorable!)
(Should Sterling ask Eden first? Or should Cash have the idea?)
Eden’s POV:
School hadn’t seemed very exciting. Not really, no. I didn’t look forward to anything. Nothing made me happy in here.
Nowadays it was completely different. Something did excite me. Something did make me look forward to school.
Slipping out of my class, my eyes darted around, hoping to catch a glimpse of Sterling. I could always pretend I wasn’t looking for him, but it was incredibly hard not to search for him.
These days, he’d been in my mind. All the time, running again and again, disturbing my sleep and causing me distress. I decided I liked that kind of disturbance. I must be crazy to like something like this.
After the talk with Ashley, I decided I would open myself a little more—give him a chance. Give myself a chance. If someone liked me for me, I shouldn’t push him away.
I scoffed to myself, shaking my head. Who knew I would start having thoughts like these? It’s funny how someone can completely change your perspective of things. But I knew that if this time it turned out that it was a game… I knew I would be destroyed completely.
I would have continued my trail of thoughts had I not slammed straight into someone’s back, my nose burning from the impact. I almost cursed, stumbling back but managing to regain my balance. Who in the world had a back made up of stone?
It was when I looked up to meet a pair of eyes that I regretted being lost in my thoughts.
It was Sterling.
Why must I continue to show him the weakest parts of myself…?
Sterling's POV:
On my way to my next class, someone ran into me from behind. As soon as I turned to see who it was, my eyes dropped to the pair of bright blue eyes that continued to appear in my dreams…
"Eden, woah. Are you okay?" I asked, reaching out to help her.
Is be lying if I said I didn't like being run into by her. In fact, I had been looking for her in the halls. Surprise surprise, right?
Eden’s POV:
Sterling’s tough burned me. Not because I hated it, but because it sent shivers down my spine and made my blood hot. Ever since he kissed me… it always ended like that. I’d look into his eyes and feel like someone knocked my breath out of my lungs. He’d touch me a little and I’d feel weirdly pleasant. He’d smile at me and I’d feel lost.
I forced a smile on my face, rubbing my nose.
“Hello, Sterling,” I greeted him quietly, slightly embarrassed.
Sterling's POV:
The way she greeted me had changed noticeably. She didn't look at me like I was an annoying insect anymore, but rather like she was almost happy to see me.
I loved this change. It made my heart skip a beat every time I saw her. Or a few beats… And I loved the blush that Coated her cheeks, though I was sure she had no idea it was there.
"Hi, Eden," I greeted her gently, giving her the smile that was reserved for her and her only. "Are you all right?"
Eden’s POV:
My heart squeezed when I saw Sterling’s warm smile.
“I’m okay,” I nodded, lowering my hand down. Although my nose felt a little tingly, it was fine. I looked around Sterling, feeling a little confused. Every time I saw him, why was he always alone? Why wasn’t he around his friends? He was social; he should have one or two friends. But he was always alone whenever I saw him. I furrowed my eyebrows until someone wrapped their arms around my shoulders and put their weight on me.
Lucas. Of course.
“Hey, there, lil’ sis,” he greeted me, although his eyes were on Sterling. I raised an eyebrow until Lucas’s state turned into a smile. “Hello, Sterling. Fancy seeing you here.”
I snorted, forcing his arm off of me. He complied, grinning. Sometimes I wish he’d revert back to his shy, nerdy self. He acted so cheeky sometimes that it made me want to punch him in the face.
Sterling's POV:
Lucas didn't look happy to see me… I assumed it was because I was trying to get his sister to date me, but that didn't seem like something to hate a guy over, right?
"What's up, Lucas? How're you and Ashley going?" I asked, stuffing my hands in my front pockets. I wouldn't be intimidated by him. I had get him to like me somehow.
As if on cue, Ashley walked up and wrapped an arm around Lucas. She gave me a quick smile as she greeted me, "Hey, Sterling. Lucas and I are doing great, right babe?"
Eden’s POV:
I sighed loudly as Lucas grinned at Ashley.
“Of course we are,” he replied cheerfully. It made me want to punch him harder. What was he doing?
“You and Eden seem to be spending a lot of time together,” he commented snarkily, an edge to his voice. I raised an eyebrow, daring him to continue. “Is there something I should know about?”
“Actually, yes,” I turned to look at him with a small smile. Lucas raised an eyebrow, a bit taken aback but otherwise smiley. “Do not tempt me, Lucas.”
He gulped audibly, laughing nervously.
“I’m just kidding,” he raised his hands in mock surrender. “Speaking of which, Ash and I are planning on hanging out today. There’s an all-you-can-eat buffet at around eight PM, but we’re hoping to spend some time at an amusement park or something. You guys want to come?”
I looked at Lucas with narrowed eyes; I didn’t know what he was planning, but it didn’t sit well with me. What was he planning?
Sterling's POV:
I barely refrained from smirking at the effect Eden had on her brother. She was cute when she got sassy like that. Well, cuter.
"That actually sounds like a great idea. I'm down if Eden is," I said, glancing over at the girl whose heart I was trying to steal.
Eden’s POV:
I couldn’t say no. Not because Lucas and Ashley looked at me with hopefulness, but because I wanted to spend more time with Sterling. Still, I had an image to keep. I couldn’t make Sterling think that he was easily breaking down my walls.
“All right,” I answered with a sigh. “I don’t have anything better to do, besides listening to music.”
“Right,” Lucas nodded. “She listens to music on a full volume. Wearing earphones. Can you believe that, Sterling?”
I shot a look at Lucas. What exactly was he doing? Was he out of his mind? I glared at him harshly, silently telling him I would murder him if he so much as uttered another word. Either he ignored me, or I really am being less scary.
Sterling's POV:
I blinked at Lucas, giving him a weird look before I shrugged. Ashley looked over at him, too, and poked him, looking almost as annoyed as Eden.
"Okay… I mean, I do that sometimes, too. It blocks the world out when you just want to be alone," I said, my gaze flicking to Eden. "Where is this buffet? And what time should we meet?"
