(Goodnight!)
“Noted.” Wilhelm nodded, running his fingers through his hair with a tiny sigh. “Do you mind if I sit over there? I’m kind of tired of reaching to pet Bonnie.”
(Goodnight!)
“Noted.” Wilhelm nodded, running his fingers through his hair with a tiny sigh. “Do you mind if I sit over there? I’m kind of tired of reaching to pet Bonnie.”
Connor smiled, sitting up. "Yeah sure, c'mere." he replied, petting the little dog gently.
“Thanks, thanks.” Wilhelm moved beds, sitting down next to Connor and Bonnie.
He nodded a little bit. "Yer welcome." he replied, still petting Bonnie and smiling.
Wilhelm adjusted himself to take up the least amount of space possible. He combed his fingers through Bonnie’s fur with a soft smile. Wilhelm began to hum quietly, but he may not have realized it yet.
He listened to Wilhelm's humming, a soft smile on his face as he petted Bonnie.
Wilhelm rolled his neck from side to side, continuing to hum. Every so often he would take a moment to glance at Connor out the corner of his eye, or look out the window, but he otherwise seemed peaceful.
Connor listened to Wilhelm, cocking his head to one side a little bit. He kept his eyes on Bonnie, still petting her gently.
Wilhelm mumble-sang in soft German, keeping his fingers combed through Bonnie’s tan and grey fur. The song was slow, maybe a little slower than it should’ve been, but slow nonetheless.
(i gtg soon, sorry. Good night!)
Connor listened carefully, hardly able to make out anything specific, but enjoying the melody that Wilhelm was humming.
(Gn!)
“Weißt du, wieviel Sternlein stehen
An dem blauen Himmelszelt?” He crooned, possibly now trying to lull Bonnie off to sleep. The little dog was responding in turn, falling back into her usual slumber.
He listened, still petting Bonnie, smiling a little bit. He closed his eyes, leaning his head on the wall.
Wilhelm rubbed the top of Bonnie’s head, trying to at least finish this song. “Weißt du, wieviel Kinder frühe stehn aus ihren Bettchen auf, dass sie ohne Sorg' und Mühe fröhlich sind im Tageslauf?” He ran his fingers through his hair with a tiny sigh as he drew the ending verse to a close. “Gott im Himmel hat an allen Seine Lust, sein Wohlgefallen, kennt auch dich und hat dich lieb, kennt auch dich und hat dich lieb.”
(Fishing through German folk songs and lullabies is.. a lot. May I direct you to Schwesterlein, Schwesterlein, wann gehn wir nach Haus?, a song, if I’m reading right, is about a young girl who.. gets sick and dies?)
He kept listening quietly, eyes still closed, fingers running through Bonnie's soft fur.
Bonnie was still asleep. Whether or not that was a product of Wilhelm’s little song? That was still unclear. What was clear, however, was the calm, near sereneness on Wilhelm’s face and body language.
Connor opened his eyes, looking over at Wilhelm with a faint smile. "That was gorgeous." he said softly.
“Ah- fuck, I forgot you were there, I’m sorry.” Wilhelm jolted slightly, but he easily laughed it off. “Thank you. It’s just an old lullaby.”
Connor chuckled softly. "Thanks." he replied. "But you're welcome." he smiled at Wilhelm.
Wilhelm smiled back, the faintest dusting of pink growing on his cheeks. “I only wanted to get Bonnie back to sleep. I’m not sure if it worked or she’s just tired… Either way, I suppose she’s asleep.”
Connor chuckled again. "Right, yeah." he agreed with a smile. "Still, though. 't sounded really nice."
“Thank you.” Wilhelm ruffled up his hair, smoothing it back down after a moment. “It’s a nice song, too.”
He nodded. "Yeah. I mean…I don't know what the words mean, but yeah."
“It’s eh.. hm. Well, the title itself is Weißt du wieviel Sternlein stehen?- Do You Know How Many Stars There Are?.. I don’t really want to translate the rest, ha- it’s just a lullaby.”
He nodded a little. "Ah. It's pretty, though." He said with a faint smile.
Wilhelm nodded in agreement. “This is off topic, sorry, but are teachers making you take the midterm next week? Well- in two weeks, I suppose.”
