Ares looks at his phone and pauses, then scrolls through his phone and curses. He wasn’t close with much family, nor friends…he only had two who actually understood him. And for family…he only had a sister. But- he hadn’t seen her in years…no one even knew he had a sister. He hoped she wasn’t involved in this. She was all the way in Italy…He sucks in a breath, standing up. “Fine. If she wants to harass me, I’ll go talk to her-“ He huffs, then vanishes, showing up in front of her lair. “OKAY! I’M HERE! NOW LET THEM GO!” He snarls, looking around. maybe she took mother…wouldn’t mind that much…
Alissa smiles broadly when Ares shows up.
"Well hello, La Abtal. Or should I say, Ares. I must say, your sister has such a pretty face. And your friends put up such a delicious fight." she says. Her red eyes sparkle maliciously.
"You know, it's very rude to ignore someone when they ask to speak with you. Very rude. I had to kill 5 of my best slaves because of you, you know. Very unfortunate, considering if you'd have just complied, your friends and family wouldn't have been dragged into this." she sighs, but her words were silky, expertly digging their way through Ares's skin and worming their way to his head - an effect of her powers, to be sure, but still very effective.
She clicks her fingers, and the lights in what was now obviously the lounge of some large house turn on. Behind Alissa were Ares's sister and his friends.
Ares sucks in a breath, staring at his baby sister. If anything, she came first. He promised he would protect her. Even if it ment him having to leave her. He looks back at Alissa. “What do you want. What’s so important that you drag a 11 year old into this? She’s a kid…at least let her go…” He ignores his friends pleas, knowing damn well he couldn’t save them all. He just wanted his baby sister safe. Maybe if he just ignored them, they all would be released.
"I wanted to meet the person who, for right now, will be my greatest rival." Alissa smiles calmly.
She gestures back at Ares's sister and friends. She waves her hand - a simple, negligent but elegant movement. "Think of this the next time you decide to ignore me."
Ares's sister and his friends turn to pink mist. One moment, there, the next they were gone.
He tenses, “they’re safe right?” He mutters, “Don’t think I won’t check.” He seemed to compleately avoid her face entirely, and his hands seemed to always be busy. Messing with his cloths, hair, rings, anything. They also seemed to shake a lot.
"Oh, they're safe - up in Heaven." Alissa chuckles.
She stares down Ares. "What will you do now?"
His eye twitches, but then…he smirks.
Alissa laughs slightly.
"What? Do you really think you have the power here?" she asks softly. "Your sister and friends are dead. If I wanted I could do the same thing to you."
He huffs, “Oh please…do me the favor.” He smirks, “And besides…you got the wrong ones…” His voice fills with sweet poison. “You can’t even travel through dimensions…how stupid are you to believe they were the real thing?”
Alissa smirks.
"Even if they aren't, kid, I can just snap my fingers and have all the information I need. As a matter of fact. . ." she replies, clicking her fingers.
Ares would be blacked out for a while. When he came to, he would be covered in blood. The memories would slowly come back to him, how he'd been taken control of and forced to kill every version of his entire family and all his friends, all the fake ones and all the real ones. Gone.
He'd come to, back in Alissa's parlor, standing right where he had been.
"Now! I know I got them." she laughs.
He gasps, staring at his hands. He goes silent, almost seeming to zone out.
"This is why you don't challenge me. I can make you do anything - including kill your loved ones." Alissa laughs, enjoying the look on Ares's face. She stands and walks over to him, bending over and placing a finger under his chin, lifting his face so his eyes met hers.
"Such a lovely look." she smiles, staring deep into the hero's eyes. "Now, do you understand? Your only job is to play with me until get bored. After all, you're the only hero in the city that can hope to beat me."
He avoids her eyes, smirking. “You know…I’ve gotta great view of your nostrils…” He grabs her wrist, gripping HARD. It almost felt bone crushing. “You have no idea what I’m capable of…” he whispers.
As soon as Ares grabs her, Alissa cracks the bones in his ears - the small ones. This would not only cause extreme pain but deafen him and give him extreme vertigo. Her red eyes were cold.
"I didn't give you permission to touch me." she says quietly and coldly.
He whimpers, covering his ears and falling to his knees. He squeezes his eyes shut, Shit… he sways slightly. “Well…sorry to tell you but-“ He hisses, “I don’t give a shit.”
Slowly, his fingers start to curl backwards, the bones and ligaments creaking and eventually snapping entirely.
"You should." she says softly.
He yelps, crumpling to the ground. He looks up at her, the whole room seemed to spin and warp. After only a few moments, the room around them both started fading to black, the same time as Ares passed out. Soon, they bother we’re surrounded by only void.
Alissa sighs wearily.
She flicks Ares's forehead, hard, a spark jumping between her finger and him, waking him again.
"No, thank you."
He jumps, his eyes opening. He looks up at her, his eyes fluttering.
“You…are just like…them…” he mutters.
"Oh, sweetheart. . . whoever they are, I am nothing like them." Alissa chuckles.
"If you want to dissociate, don't involve me." she says.
He growls, “You’ve only proved yourself wrong.” He kicks her from under her feet, just as she was about to hit the ground, she was transported back to her lair.
Alissa shrugs eloquently. "Sure I have."
She reagins her balance immediately when she's teleported back to her house. She smiles slightly.
Oh, he'll be fun to play with. . . she thinks to herself. She extends a ruby red tendril of thought towards the flickering light of Ares's mind, slowly creeping into his thoughts and whispering cruel things.
He closes his eyes, curling up in a ball. Stop being a bitch. You’re just doing what they all did…I’m used to it by now, dumbass. he snaps the thought into her own mind, his voice booming.
I can be so much worse than them, Ares. Alissa's voice coos back. After all, can you truly say anybody has cared for you purely out of the kindness of their heart?
Her voice echoed around his head, all but drowning everything else out. The people only like you because they don't know what goes on in your head. They don't understand the effort you put in to drown out your own torment, just so you can save them. And the first mistake you make - the first person you can't save - and they all turn on you. . . I ask you, is that fair? If they turn against you like they've turned against the greatest heros, what will you do? What will you have left?
He rolls his eyes, Oh don’t give me the monologue. I already know. I know no one actually cares. The reason I do what I do, is so no one else suffers like I had to. So no more children have to go through that. I KNOW they didn’t care, I KNOW they would shun me if they knew. And I don’t CARE anymore. Are you THAT stupid? You clearly gained control, you CLEARLY have all the information. You should KNOW I stopped caring. he huffs, You think you’re smart. You think you’re gonna make me realize the worlds horrible. I already KNOW. You’re not making me realize anything.
