"What promise did you make to my mother?" He raised a brow as he looked at Kelton. He set the book down next to him and moved to stand up.
He looked Kelton up and down. He hadn't really seen him outside of the armor he wore, so it was interesting to see what he looked like now.
"Why do you wear armor too big for you? You would be much better in some form fiting armor.'
"I promised… It's no matter what I promised the queen, more so if I can keep that promise or not." Kelton said with a wary smile, wiping the sweat from his brow. He watched the prince stand up, and was about to follow him into the palace, when he realized that they were not about to go in, rather, the prince was just looking at him. His annoyed smile soon turned to an awkward one, and he nervously pushed his hair out of his face before getting back to his normal position. "It was my father's when he served as a knight here, so I wear it to honor him. I do have one meant to fit me that I wear when need be, but this is what I simply prefer, my prince." That's a fair question, I suppose. But I wonder if I would be allowed to ask him some questions? Perhaps later, if he comes to like me… That reminds me, would I be placed in a room near him for the night? Or just stay in the dormitory then prepare to leave I wonder why we are leaving too.
"Oh…your father's. I guess I can understand that. I don't remember much about your father, but I do know he was a good knight, one of the best that served us."
He sighed softly, running a hand through his ginger locks of hair.
He was still wearing contacts as was preferred by his family.
Right now his eyes were a light baby blue, almost like a sky blue. His eyes almost look sad for a moment, before returning back to being peppy.
"Well, I guess we should go inside then."
"I suppose so, although for drills and things of that nature, I am required to wear the other suit of armor." Kelton mentioned, before a somewhat pleased look appeared on his face. It was nice to hear that he came from a long, good line of knights, but it frustrated him to hear praises of his father, when although he was a good knight he was not the greatest of fathers. Well, it depended, but still it was a bit tiresome. And it made him a target of some of the other knights since he sometimes got the more favorable positions.
"Yes your majesty, of course." Kelton had been a bit transfixed by the prince's…beauty? I doubt that that is the right term? Although the prince irked him so, he had to admit that the man was appealing to look at. But I'm not here to gaze at his majesty, I'm supposed to protect him. "Is there anywhere that you would like to go to?"
"Okay you should stop calling me your majesty. Call me Tristan, okay? Not your royal highness, just Tristan."
He sighed, before grabbing his book and moving to head inside.
He noticed how Kelton looked at him and he couldn't help but grin a little bit.
"Try not to look so much okay? I know I'm stunning but I don't want you to trip.' He chuckled softly as walks inside the castle once more greeted by the drafty air.
He moved to walk through the hallway, speeding so he could loose them.
"Tristan, huh? Just Tristan?" Kelton asked, trying out the prince's name to get a feel for it, and to drill it into hie head before nodding. "If that is what you wish, Tristan." The knight shrugged before falling into step with the prince easily keeping up with him. He did not want a repeat of earlier that day when his majesty had done his best to lose him. "I'm sorry, Tristan, you were looking at me, and I thought that it would only be polite if I looked back at you." The knight murmured with a slight shrug before picking up his pace slightly to keep up with the prince.
"Yeah. It is what I wish." He muttered, moving to take sharp turns in the windy castle hallways, he slid on the floor and then turned to quickly run off.
He hid inside a closet as soon as he was a good ways away from Kelton.
Hopefully he could loose him again.
He liked a challenge though, so he's not entirely complaining.
H
You must absolutely be kidding me… The knight thought with a grumble, once again having lost sight of the prince. He might either be heading to his quarters, or to the library, but I should change out of this armor eventually. I technically am not supposed to be wearing father's armor so much, and since he mentioned it, it might be better if I were to change into official palace armor. He decided making a turn opposite to what the prince made, down once again to the dormitory. After about fifteen minutes, he was dressed in the lighter leather armor meant for around the palace and made his way towards the prince's quarters, hoping that Tristan would be there.
Once Kelton walked past him, he slipped out and went for his room, he had thrown down the rope starting to climb it when he heard footsteps coming towards his room.
He made it all the way down by the time the door was open and was now running away towards the forest.
Kelton could probably see him from the window as he ran, a grin on his face.
This kid was such a handful.
Kelton silently slipped into the prince's room having waited a few moments to be let in. He frowned though, seeing that Prince Tristan was no longer in his bedroom. Dammit, this stupid royal. The knight thought, hurrying towards the window and seeing the prince running into the forest. Should I wait for him to get spooked by something, then come running back? Or go after him? Besides, he already forgot to bring his supplies. The knight thought looking towards the pack on the young prince's bed. I suppose I should issue a warrant then go after him? But then his father will find out that I let him out of my sight… I suppose I just go after him. THe knight thought, quickly scurrying down the rope, before pulling it down. I might need it to restrain this man later. He thought as he entered the forest, his sword drawn as he searched for the princee. "I ought to kill this bastard…" The knight muttered, slicing a branch in half that had been in his way.
Tristan ran through the forest and grabbed a small bag off the ground in a bush, before dashing once more making sure that he was as silent as possible, even though he really wasn't good at that part.
Once he made it through the brush and trees he made it to a small clearing. He stopped in the clearing, infront of him was a small waterfall leading into a big pond. The water was crystal clear, you could see all of the little fishes in it and how pristine it looked.
He quickly took a pair of shorts out of his bag and changed into them, taking off his shirt and running to climb up to the top of the waterfall.
As Kelton was searching through the forest, he was beginning to give up. It was rather frustrating after all. All I wanted to do was my job, so why does his majesty feel the need to make my life difficult? Because if I come back without him, or am gone for too long, it will be my head that will upon of the palace fences, not his. The knight thought, trudging through one of the muddier areas of the forest. Eventually though, he came across the area where Tristan was, and just sat down by the prince's small bag, waiting for his highness to see him there. Goodness, it is quite hot out here. Kelton thought as he began to remove his armor, just trying to cool off. He still had the underclothes on, but he just wanted to cool off a little bit.
Just as Kelton had finished taking off his armor, he could see Tristan at the very top with his hair down.
He had some pretty floofy hair and a toned chest.
He jumped from the top and did a Canon ball, making a big splash get sent towards Kelton, soaking him all the way across his body.
"WOOOHOO!"
As Kelton was setting aside his armor away from the water, he looked up to see Tristan at the top of the rocks above the water. What is the prince doing? He thought, approaching the edge of the water, only to get soaked with water. In response, the other quickly removed his boots, before hurrying into the water after Tristan. "What the hell is wrong with you? Your parents will kill me if they find out that you escaped."
He emerged from the water and tackled Kelton onto the ground, where the water was more shallow.
"Got you! Hah!" He chuckled, grinning like an idiot and pinning him down in the shallow water. His wet ginger hair dripped down his face and onto Keltons face.
"Tristan, are you not listeni-!!!" Kelton yelped when he was pinned down, before looking up to see a dripping wet Tristan holding his arms down against the damp sand. He couldn't help but smile, and tried to hide the blush that was appearing on his cheeks, before he pushed the other off and picked him up, beginning to pull him out of the small lake. "Come on now, Tristan, now your parents will truly kill me." He said with a sigh, his blond hair dripping wet as he carried the prince over to wear their clothes were.
"Oh look. He actually has a smi- woAh- put me down Kelton!" He pounded on his back as he wiggled around until he was let down. Yes he was basically like a child having a tantrum but he didn't know how to get him to put him down otherwise.
He just wanted to walk on his own.
He totally didn't think that he could hide until the morning out in the woods and then sneak back in and night.
"I don't want to go back yet!"
"You do not seem to realize the severity of your actions, my good prince." Kelton said, his voice full of sarcasm when he addressed the prince. "You may have enjoyed a fun little escape, but for me, this will lead to me being demoted, removed from the royal guard entirely which will shame my family, or just me being killed." He said with a sigh, before the grip he had on the prince began to tighten. "I do not wish to go back either, but you need to be there for your family to send you off with a new guard. And I need to prepare for whatever punishment I receive from your parents." The knight said, putting the prince down so that he could put on his armor. He still kept a grip on the other boy, holding him with his free hand, before switching hands so that he could be in his armor once more. "Thank you so much, your highness for only thinking of yourself, as usual." He muttered, picking the prince up once again, while holding the bag that Tristan had brought with him as he began to trudge towards the palace.
"I was going to come back to the palace later..I just wanted a fresh breath of air because of restraining it is in the palace. I figured you might enjoy a break too…plus you don't have to say we went out like this. You could just say that we had trouble cleaning the horses, or your armor perhaps.'
He spoke, completely being genuine in wanting to help him not get in trouble or shame his family.
"I know why they are sending me away…and I hate it. I want to stay.." He sighed, just letting Kelton carry him at this point.
"There is war approaching us and our kingdom. They wish to send me away to protect me when I wish to fight alongside them.'
"Mhmm, you expect me to believe you, Prince Tristan?" The knight murmured, still quite upset with the prince. Of course it had been some fun to leave the palace, and of course Kelton had found it well, interesting when the prince had pinned him down. But it was more than that, he knew that he needed to do his job first, then enjoy his time with the prince second -if that was even possible. "Yes, yes, of course they will believe that, especially if they see that we are coming from outside the palace walls and are sopping wet." Kelton murmured, "Unless you know any new way into the palace, I hate to tell you, but that is not going to work." He said with a sigh, readjusting his hold of the prince. "Well yes, but you are their only heir, and are most likely to be targeted, so obviously you are not going to be sent out into the front lines, especially since your skills of fighting and war are well… Subpar?"
"My skills are not subpar! Also I want to take revenge against them for what they did to my little sister! Can you not understand even that?!" He burst out yelling, having gotten a bit angry when kelt had finished talking.
He sighed irritated, "I know a way in to the castle where they won't see us. So you don't need to worry about loosing your job or being executed."
Kelton snorted when the other began to yell at him, "My liege, be honest with yourself for just a few moments and think about what you are saying about yourself. Yes, I understand the anger you feel about what they did to your sister. But you are also heir to the throne. So while you do know how to fight, it would be better, smarter, and much safer for you to avoid even trying to become a war lord. Instead use that brain of yours to better yourself in intelligence and the ways of war. So that instead of fighting and risking your people having a ruler, perhaps you can lead them to either peace or to a better tactic?" Kelton suggested. Before letting out a groan. "You realize there are guards stationed at every single entrance now that we are both missing thanks to you? So, yes, I will more than likely be executed or demoted." He grumbled, now sitting facing the pool of water. He had been able to take off of the clunky mail and was just allowing himself to feel the cool breeze, hoping that he could figure something out before ehtey were both forced to go back
He was about to say something ..but he stopped himself. He didn't think about kelton getting seriously punished for this, but he had a plan.
"Not every entrance, I know a way back in the place that not many know about. I don't want to see you punished ..and I will absolutely not stand for you being executed. It's unreasonable." He spoke, moving to offer him his hand.
He thought for a few moments, before speaking. Making sure he though through his words before speaking them out loud.
"I know that it is wise that I do not get involved in the fighting…but it pains me that troops are fighting, civilians and soldiers are fighting in my stead. They are people…with names and faces, and if I simply deal with the masses, who will care for the individual?' He shook his head with a huff. "it must sound foolish to you, so I don't hope that you may understand my position…just, please do not judge me so readily.'"
