Name: Kelton Gernon

Age: 21

Gender: Cis Male
Pronouns: He/Him/His

Sexuality: "I suppose that I am straight?"
(He's not straight.)

Appearance: This contains an image of: π•»π–”π–˜π–Šπ–˜ 𝖋𝖔𝖗 π–•π–π–”π–™π–”π–Œπ–—π–†π–•π–π–˜ CSG11UK_53

Clothing: He wears his father's metal armor since his father had been a knight in his younger days. It is still a little bit large for him, but he's growing into it. In a way, for him to inherit it over his siblings meant the world to him, since he always looked up to and admired his father. The man may not have been the greatest person in reality, but in Kelton's eyes, he was a true hero.

Basic personality: He can be a bit outspoken at times, and very protective of his friends and family. He feels as though he needs to just be there for them and protect them, even if they don't want it at the moment. If anything, he could be easily described as a mother, caring, somewhat wise, and definitely crazy at times. But it does take him a while to actually grow close and care for people. In fact, he really tries to avoid most people and prefers to travel and spend his time alone. Although now that he works in the palace, it is hard to do that.

Short background: He had a quiet, peaceful childhood in a small secluded village where most of his family lived. He spent most alone out in the woods watching the animals and just relax to the soft breeze. In the evenings he, his siblings, and cousins would sit at the feet of his uncle and father and listen to the stories that they would tell before the children would go to sleep. Then was the first time he ever heard of the castle, and he and his uncle would plan on going there together, but that never happened. His father forbade the two from anything like that, and his uncle in fury decided to set on the journey alone, to prove to his brother that it was safe. Kelton truly hoped that his uncle would come back, but for some reason, he knew that it wouldn't happen. And his worst fear came true, his uncle never did come back, and he knew that one day he would go to the castle and find out the truth. After that, it seemed as though his dreams of adventuring were crushed. He had only been a young teen when his uncle had left, so in hopes of taking his mind off the pain, his parents put him under the training of a knight. The man had been a friend of his father's -since his father used to work in the palace- and since then has been training as a knight.

Other: Kelton prefers a broadsword for his weapon, especially his father's. In fact, he stole it the night he left for training.

((OOh, nice! Now do we want them to start out hating each other at first then grow to be more fond of each other? Or already have some background with each other?)

(Maybe he dosent like Tristan bc of how he's always trying to get away? Like he's run into him before when he's been trying to escape-? Like they have history but also he dosent like him.)

Kelton had been heading down to the dormitories for the palace guards/knights when he heard hurried footsteps coming from behind him. It is rather late, so I suppose that this is another one of the guards, or perhaps they are late to switch shifts? But as the footsteps drew closer and grew more urgent, he turned slightly to see who it was. He was surprised to see one of the younger pages hurrying through the halls this late at night, and was even more surprised when the boy stopped in front of him.

"K-kel…" The boy began, quite out of breath from hurrying after the man, "Kelton, the king requested your presence. It is quite urgent." He panted out.

"Urgent?" Kelton asked, looking slightly confused down at the page, before sighing, "Do I need to bring anything to this meeting or am I presentable at the moment?"

The boy nodded, "Yes, yes, pack some changes of clothing as well as some gear, quickly, this was all that the king told me."

The knight nodded, "Wait outside of the dormitory, and I will be out in a few moments." And indeed he was, as he was hurrying to pack his goods into a satchel, he noticed that the others were seemingly getting ready for battle, so just in case he changed into a different pair of boots, as well as grabbing his father's armor and broadsword. Once out of the room, he hurried after the page to the king's quarters.

The king sat impatiently on his throne, the queen at his side.
He tapped his foot on the floor, making a soft echoing sound through out the room.
The door opened, and his son slipped right in.
Just in time really, though that was to be determined with the next moves that happened.
Tristan quickly went to sit on his throne.
As soon as he sat down a guard and a page boy walked into the throne room.
Tristan recognized the guard from an encounter where he was stopped from leaving, though he didn't frown on the outside he was on the inside.
The father exhales, "Kelton, I have an important task for you. It is the highest importance, and the amount of trust I am putting in you to do this is a major amount. Should you fail this you will be exiled from this Kingdom, do you understand?" He spoke loudly, glancing nervously out of the window as the sun was high in the sky outside.
Tristan glanced at his father, confused. why is he sending this knight on some quest that is of major importance when we already have something on the horizon?

@Calanthe

As the man followed the younger boy further into the king's quarters, he began to grow a bit uncomfortable. In his mind something was definitely off, I've never been this far into his majesty's quarters, even when I was inducted into the guild. But, when they stopped in front the doors to throne room, the knight realized that they just took a shorter way to the room. I suppose that I may not know the palace as well as I thought I did. But, he did not have a good deal of time to ponder on that, as the page pushed the doors open. Kelton silently followed the boy into the room, the sound of his helmet -which he was holding in on free hand- clunking against the sheath of his broadsword filling the room along with each nervous tap of the king's foot. As the two drew closer to the throne's, he kneeled down in front of the king and queen, not even noticing the prince. He quickly rose when addressed by name when the king spoke to him, "I understand, my liege."

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He sighed, "Good." He waved the pager off, ushering them to leave for the matters were private matters and he didn't want to chance any spies.
Once the pager was good and gone, he finally spoke.
"I'm assigning you as my son prince Tristans personal guard." He spoke, glancing between the two of them when he said so.
Tristan's eyes widened slightly, couldn't his father have picked anyone but this guy? This was the last guy he wanted guarding his back.
"But father-" He tried to speak, but was immediately cut off by a swift move of gas father's hand.
"I also would like for you two to set off tomorrow evening, go into the village and stay there until I send word it is safe to come back. However you may need to go to our south fortress in the mountains, just incase. I leave you to do what you see fit."
He spoke, finally leaning back a little bit in his chair after he finished speaking.

@Calanthe

As the young page walked past Kelton, the knight nodded at him as a bit of a thank you, before turning his full focus back onto the king. But, he regretted doing so, because when he heard his majesty's order, it took all that he had in him to stay calm. He was extremely displeased with what he heard, not wanting anything to do with this prince. He had already had to deal with the spoiled royal when Prince Tristan had tried to run away, and from then one had tried to avoid the prince. He still had a couple of scars left on his arm from when the prince had tried to fight him off from bringing him back, and from then on Kelton decided that that amount of crazy was not worth it. But now that he was actually assigned to be by the prince as his personal body guard, he was kind of screwed over. I cannot tell my liege no, so I suppose that I have to. "Yes my king, it shall be done." He murmured, before looking down and realizing that he had brought his sword and armor for no reason.

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

"Now then, why don't the two of you spend the rest of today together? Get used to the fact that you will be around each other practically 24/7. Why not try and become friends?" He spoke, before nodding at Tristan.
"Alright then, let's go do something I guess.' He spoke, getting up from his throne. He immediately went for the door, brushing past the guard.
"Kelton, keep my son alive please? He's the the heir to the throne." The queen spoke this time, after Tristan had left.

@Calanthe

Kelton wasn't too thrilled at the idea of being stuck with the spoiled prince for the rest of the day, but what could he do about it? He had to obey the king's orders. Besides, they must have chosen me for some reason, after all, they could have picked from any of the guards or knights, but they chose me. So I must have been doing something right. He reassured himself, before moving ever so slightly to the side when the prince walked past him. Seemingly being dismissed, he began to walk away from the royal couple, before being addressed by the queen. "Yes, your highness, I will bring Prince Tristan back to you the same as he left." He reassured her, before exiting the throne room after the prince.

Tristan quickly and swiftly headed to the garden, he had a book in hand by the time he got there. Having snagged one off of a table in the hallway, he had place it there early.
He opened it as he sat down on the bench in the sunshine, he hoped he lost that guard in the castle after all the twists and turns he made.
He didn't need a personal guard and he didn't want one.
He could defend himself well enough.
Why did he have to leave? He wanted to stay and fight the enemy, who cares if he was the only heir. He had to avenge what they did to his sister.
He clenched his fist around the book, before exhaling to calm himself down.

@Calanthe

After leaving the throne room Kelton looked around for the prince. I was just assigned to his royal majesty and he has already run off. Such a great way to start a new assignment. He decided though, that if this prince was not going to play fair, neither was he. He already knew some of the prince's favorite spots,since he had been posted in some of those areas before, and figured that he might as well drop off his rucksack and some of his armor before finding Prince Tristan. And that, was exactly what he did. After stopping by the dormitory he eventually sauntered his way into the garden, quietly approaching Prince Tristan. "I suppose you thought that I wouldn't come and find you?" He asked, sitting down next to the prince on the bench. "If anything, I figured you wouldn't come to your favorite spot. It is an obvious choice."

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

He frowned when he heard the guard speak to him.
So what if he wanted to go to his favorite place? This was his castle, and the knight was just working in it.
He just pretended as if he wasn't there and acted like he was reading his book, and very absorbed into it. So much so he didn't know his surroundings.
Surely it would work, right?
He didn't want to just sit here ignoring them all day but he didn't want to talk to them.

@Calanthe

Alright… Alright then, if that is the game that this prince wants to play. Kelton thought with a smug smile, I suppose I might as well get some work done while I wait out here with him. He still had his broadsword with him, so carefully he moved so that he was sitting on the plush grass, before removing his broadsword out of its sheath. If he is going to pretend as though I am not here, I suppose this will not annoy him too much. He thought as he removed a small cloth from his person and began to polish his sword. As the time spent outside progressed, the knight was growing quite uncomfortable from the heat, still in his palace uniform and glanced up at the prince. I wonder if he'll say that we can go back inside soon?

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

Tristan was actually sitting in the shaded portion of the bench so the heat didn't bother him much, he enjoyed the soft breeze that came by every once and a while.
He let a soft smile go on his face. He really enjoyed being outside, the fresh air was so nice to him. He hated the drafty palace walls, and the flowers smelled nice as well.
He continued to read though would occasionally glance at Kelton as he polished his sword.

@Calanthe

As the time continued to pass the midday heat continued to grow stronger and stronger, and Kelton was biting his tongue to keep him from saying anything to the prince about when they would go inside. So I suppose he is still ignoring my presence? The knight thought with a slight frown upon his face. After polishing his sword for the sixth time, he gently put it back into its sheath, before leaning back against one of the wooden legs of the bench. Off in distance he could hear the water from the fountain in the garden, and it sounded quite calming, almost making him feel a bit better about being stuck outside with Prince Tristan. As he continued to wait on the prince, the knight began to pick up some of the blades of grass and begin to play with them, before glancing up at the prince once again.

@imJUSTasillylittleguy group

"Why are you picking up the grass?" He finally spoke, noticing how he did that. He didn't like it at all and honestly was a bit annoyed at how he was pulling up perfectly good grass.
"If your bored you can just leave.' He spoke, making a bookmark to shut his book.
He crossed his arms at Kelton as he looked at him.
"I don't care if you stay with me. I won't tell either.'

@Calanthe

"I apologize, my Prince, if it bothers you, I shall stop." Kelton mumbled, tossing the few blades that he had picked up down onto the ground before rising to stand. His legs had gotten tired from sitting and he knew that it would look better for him to look as though he was on guard rather than relaxed. "As much as I would like to escape the heat and retreat indoors, I was instructed to stay by your side. And to be quite honest, I'd rather not break a promise I made to the queen so quickly."
