“Yup..homework. Cause I..go to school.” Grayson muttered, smiling nervously.
“Yup..homework. Cause I..go to school.” Grayson muttered, smiling nervously.
“They won’t know the difference..” she climbed the stairs up to her porch.
“Isn’t your dad a detective? Shouldn’t he be able to figure these things out?” Grayson laughed quietly, following her to the porch.
“It’s Fine.” She laughed too, turning the door handle to —hopefully— silently open the door.
Grayson nodded slightly, helping her open the door as quietly as possible.
Jasmine exhaled a great sigh of relief at the sight of her parents not in the living room, “Okay..” she whispered, “My room is upstairs.”
Grayson nodded, looking around her house while following her towards the stairs. It feels like an actual..home.. he thought, noticing the family pictures and artwork hung up.
She took his hand to practically drag him upstairs to her room. Her door was already half open from leaving it like that before she even left. She closed the door behind them, less quietly than she did with the front door.
Grayson followed behind her, slightly shocked when she grabbed his hand. “Well..” he sighed quietly. “We made it.”
She sank down in her bed, “Indeed.” She grinned, “You can sit wherever, I’ll start working on homework to keep our story straight,” she chuckled.
Her dad lightly knocked on her door, “Jass? Who are you talking to?”
Grayson nodded and settled himself on the floor next to the bed, looking over at Jasmine nervously when her dad knocked.
Jasmine swallowed, “Ah..just a study partner, Dad.”
He opened the door with his good hand, the other was covered by his sweater sleeve, but his hand was mechanic, a prosthetic. He raised an eyebrow to Grayson.
Grayson smiled innocently up at him, giving a small wave. “Nice to meet you,” he said quietly.
Her dad waved back, over and rested on the doorknob. He looked back to Jasmine, “You didn’t tell us about a study partner coming over. Plus, you’re grounded.”
Jasmine shrank, “I know..and I’m sorry, he just…needed to get out of the house..?” She smiled sheepishly.
Her dad pinched the bridge of his nose then looked back to Grayson as he let his arm fall to his side, “What happened to your forehead, son?”
(Tired DadTM)
“Oh..I just tripped. The sidewalk is uneven near my house, it’s fine.” Grayson replied quickly.
(Absolutely lol)
He clearly didn’t believe the whole story, but didn’t ask much more about it. He only tipped his chin up a smidge and hmed, “What time do you need to be home?” He had dark circles under his eyes.
(Lmao)
“8:45..9..doesn’t really matter..” Grayson replied with a small shrug.
He checked his watch, “M’kay…I guess I’ll leave you to it then.” He grumbled and turned to leave. He stopped to point at Jasmine, “The door stays open.”
Grayson waited until her dad had gone back downstairs before setting his head in his hands with a sigh. “I’m such a bad liar.” He whispered to himself.
“It’s fine, he didn’t seem to care,” she shrugged. “I feel bad for him, my Mom-Mom drives him in circles until he goes mad,” she sighed, “She’s a lawyer and won’t let anything go.”
Grayson cringed, laughing a bit as well. “Oh that doesn’t sound fun.”
(Sorry for the short replies, it’s been a busy couple days)
No problem! I completely understand)
“Haha! Noo, no, it isn’t. Luckily he’s got a good amount of days off of work, though.” She shrugged, “Anyway. What are you learning in homeschool?”
:)
“Uhh..” Grayson titled his head, thinking, “Some calculus, American history, biology or chemistry. Oh and English too, if I feel like it.”
“Awesome, I like American History.” She reached to dig through her backpack, “We’re studying the War Of 1812 at the moment.”
“Ah, yeah…stupid British.” He laughed quietly. “I just finished learning..well..reading about it.”
