Farah came to a stop, and her breath hitched. Charred bodies littered the streets so much so she couldn't even begin to tell which ones had been Burned Ones and which ones had been people. Bile rose in her throat, and she doubled-over to gag.
saul rubbed her back. as a specialist he was prepared for this… he was taught to have an iron gut an will
Tears sprung to Farah's eyes, and she trembled, lifting a hand to cup over her mouth. "I did this," she whispered, horrified. "Saul, I did this!"
" fucking tell me about it." he mumbled
Farah sunk to her knees and began to throw up until she began dry-heaving.
"far.. " he mumbled softly and pulled her to her feet, using his shirt he wiped her mouth and held her close
"Don't touch me, Saul!" Farah cried, shying away from him. Tears slipped down her cheeks, and she hugged her stomach. "Look at what I've done."
" you did what you thought was right at the time!" he said a little more aggressive then what heda liked but its what farah needed to hear " you didnt know.."
Farah shook her head, then she whirled around to Saul, a furious fire behind her eyes. "Did Rosalind know?"
"i.. im not sure.." he said
"She insisted she'd clear out the village. She told me it would be Burned Ones – only Burned Ones killed…"
" there coudnt have been this many.." he said
"No," Farah breathed, leaning against Saul heavily. "No, there couldn't have been…"
"this town didnt have burned.. "saul said
Farah's eyes widened, and she bent over to throw up again.
saul rubbed her back, unable to help
"Where is Rosalind?" she sputtered.
"still on the hill.." he said and pulled her closer
Farah trembled and clung to him. "Saul… all those people…"
"It was my magic that killed them," she whispered. "I'm a murderer."
" it want just yours." he said sternly
Farah turned her brown eyes up to him. They were once so happy and loving and carefree, and now the look behind them was weighted. "I'm a murderer, Saul."
" and you think im not?! farah weve both spilled blood today!"
Farah hugged him tightly and buried her face in his shoulder, not caring if Rosalind saw. "What happened to us?" she whispered.
