After a bit, V nudged opened the door and shut it behind him. He silently settled beside Nathaniel, pulling the angel and the ball of blankets towards him and tucking him safely against his chest.
Nathaniel hiccuped a bit and clung tightly to V, still trembling. His breathing was harsh and shallow, and tears were fresh on his cheeks. "I-I'm sorry…" He whispered shakily. "I'm sorry… I'm sorry…"
"shh, Nath, please don't be sorry." He murmured softly, gently brushing away his tears. "I'm the one who should be apologiesing for making you go though this." He pressed a kiss to his brow and gently nuzzled his cheek.
Ariah slowly made her way to the door and sat on the ground back against the wall next to the bedroom door
Nathaniel buried his face in V's chest, shaking violently. "I-I don't… I don't want her to touch me…" He whispered. "P-Please…" He wrapped his wings tightly around himself, obviously terrified. "Please, V… I-I'm sorry…"
"my love, she's not going to touch you okay, she's just going to ask questions so she can have a better idea on how to help you." He took a deep breath, seeing the shadows beneath the the door as Ariah settled down in the floor.
"h-hi Nath. I'm Ariah." She said softly, nervous about scaring the angel again "I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable earlier. I know doctors and you don't have the greatest track record but I promise I just want to help you. I'm not going to do anything to you that'll hurt you, okay?"
Nathaniel looked up and whimpered softly, his eyes wide with fear. He clung tightly to V, trembling violently where he lay. "W-What do you want from me…?" He asked in a shaky whisper. "What… what did I do…?" He started breathing a bit more heavily, gripping the fabric of V's shirt as he cried softly.
V gently squeezed Nathaniel into his embrace and pressed a kiss on his head.
"You didn't do anything wrong Nath, you didt't do anything at all actually. I'm just here to make sure you're okay. Is it ok if I ask you a few general questions?"
Nathaniel drew in a wavering breath, considering as he clung to V. "I… I-I guess that's fine…" He replied in a shaky whisper. He sounded very uneasy and unsure but he didn't want to be even more of a problem, so he wanted to try and be compliant.
"thank you, Nath. I know this takes a lot from you." Ariah said, wringing her hands as she started her questions. "So have you been through this kind of thing before? Being this sick? Do you know if you have any family with any conditions?"
"Not… not recently…" He replied quietly. "I was really sick when I first got kicked out, b-but I was only eight years old, so…" He gripped V tighter, a couple more tears rolling down his cheeks. "A-And I don't… I don't think any of my family has any medical conditions… if they do, they never told me."
"alright, it's okay if you don't know. Did you eat anything out of your normal diet that you can think of? Anything new? Anything you might be allergic to?" She asked softly, writing in her notebook as he spoke.
V gently wiped away Nath tears, whispering how proud he was of him, and pressing kisses to cheeks
"I-I don't… I don't think so…" Nathaniel whispered, huddling closer to V and hiccuping again. "I don't have any… any food allergies that I know of… n-not that I remember, anyway…"
"that's good, means we can rule out any strong medications." Ariah said, writing some more notes down. "Have you been sleeping and eating well before you got sick?" She asked
V tucked him safely beneath his chin, curling his body around Nathaniel's
"U-Um… I dunno…" Nathaniel replied weakly. "I-I haven't been eating all that much, b-but I… um… I've been sleeping a fair bit, I guess…" He buried his face in V's shoulder, breathing heavily.
(Bump)
(so sorry! Thought I answered this)
"That's good! Gives your body time to rest and rehabilitate." Ariah exclaimed happily, slowly losing her nervousness. "I know it might be hard to keep things down for a few days but I think you're through the thick of it. You should try to eat something a bit more filling, even if it's just a few bites." She suggested, slowly standing from her spot beside the door. "I'm gonna find you a bit if a stronger medication than the one you have which should help you out. Is that right with you?"
(Np ^^)
Nathaniel whimpered softly and curled up tighter against V, seeming to grow more uneasy at the mention of medicine. "I-I don't… I don't know…" He said weakly. He wasn't sure whether or not he could trust medicine that she gave to him. It could be dangerous.
V gently pressed his lips to Nath's brow practically hiding him from the world.
"If you don't feel comfortable taking the dosage I recommend, I can find you an over the counter medicine that's a lower disage. It's not as effective and you might be sick for a bit longer but it would work eventually." Ariah said, leaning against the wall
"I don't know… I d-don't know… p-please…" Nathaniel whispered, shaking a bit more violently in V's arms. "I-I don't— want—" He choked on his words, lapsing into a coughing fit and huddling closer. He didn't know what he was really trying to say anyway, but he was obviously afraid.
V squeezed him tight, "it's alright love, you did great." He reassured, slowly detangling himself from the blankets and Nathaniel. "I'll be right back okay?" He slowly made his way out of the bedroom and gently guided Ariah to the living room. "Would it be alright if we stayed with the over-the-counter counter meds for now? Nath's not really comfortable with doctor given meds quite yet, even in small doses."
Ariah nodded in understanding "I see, and of course, yes. But in case he does need stronger ones, I'll send some over with Jarvis tomorrow." She lightly rested her hand on V's arm. "He did great today. I'm sorry if I caused him more trouble than good today but I do hope he gets better soon." She smiled softly and headed to the door, guided by her brother. "I'll see out all at the wedding."
Nathaniel huddled up under the covers, tangling himself up in the blankets to hide himself from the world. He felt safer in here, even if he couldn't breathe as well, and he was thankful to hear that Ariah seemed to be leaving. He was still very shaky and pretty panicky, and it would probably take him a while to fully relax again.
After Ariah had left, Jarvis and Urielle also decided to reluctantly go, seeing the Nath and V needed time alone. "We'll come by tomorrow to check on you both." Urielle said, hugging V.
V nodded and gently closed the door behind them, taking in a deep breath and walking over to the bedroom. He shut the door and silently curled up around Nathaniel.
Nathaniel clung tightly to V when he returned to him, sobbing quietly into his chest. "Is she… is she gone…?" He asked in a shaky whisper, still trembling violently in fear. "S-She's not here anymore? Right?"
V hugged Nath close, pulling him and the blankets on top of him. "Yes my angel, she's gone. So are Urielle and Jarvis, they'll come by tomorrow to check on you and to bring the medications Ariah recommended." He brushed away Nathaniel's tears and pressed a kiss to his brow
Nathaniel whimpered softly and nodded, hiccuping a couple of times. "I'm s—s-sorry…" He whispered, a few fresh tears rolling down his pale cheeks. "I'm sorry… I'm… I-I'm problematic…"
