"Then what am I supposed to say??"
"Then what am I supposed to say??"
"Whatever comes from your heart."
Ricarda looked down and thought about it for a moment, closing his eyes to think.
"So? Gonna say anything or not?" Camila asked.
"I don't know…" said Ricarda
"You're not very good at defending yourself then."
"I've never had to before!" said Ricarda, "Normally people accept who other people are without forcing them to justify themselves on everything!"
"Well I'm not like most other people! I know what my destiny is and I want it to happen! And j strive to be better than it too!"
"That doesn't mean you have to push other people so hard. Not everyone is as sure as you."
"But they should at least be a little sure of themselves. You don't seem to be."
"That's because I have two completely different destinies I could be following!" said Ricarda. "I could follow my mom's path…. or I could follow my dad's!"
"You're not the only one with two different paths! You're just one of the few who's parents had different stories!"
"Not as different as mine!" said Ricarda, knowing it might not be true, but it felt like it. "My father is Jack Frost, a Rebel. My mom is Elsa, the Queen of Ice…." he buried his head in his hands. "About the only thing I have straight is my powers… and I can't even keep that straight!"
"That's not true. Sure, my parents are part of the same story, but they aren't part of the same side. My mother Elena is a Royal. Of course she is, she's a Queen. But my father Matteo, he's a Rebel."
"I figured I wasn't the only one…" said Ricarda, "But it does feel like it…"
"My father was a Rebel," Raelyn said. "He was a thief and an orphan. But he rescued my mother, who didn't know she was a Royal."
"They're a part of the same story" said Ricarda gently, "Not completely different ones like mine are…"
"Yeah, but they were completely different people. They were from complete different sides," Raelyn explained. "Go ask anyone here at the school. Not everyone's parents are both gonna be Royal or both Rebel. Ivy Queen, for example. Her dad is Dexter Charming, a Royal. But her mother is Raven Queen, a Rebel. Lillie Ella and Oakley Huntsman. Their parents are Ashlynn Ella and Hunter Huntsman. A Royal and a Rebel. And all of their parents are from different stories."
"True" said Ricarda, "But that still doesn't tell me which path to follow, and it doesn't do anything to explain why you try and force people to answer questions they clearly aren't ready for."
"You should be ready. This year is Legacy year. The year we graduate. The year we follow our parents footsteps. It's too late for you to not know these things."
Ricarda sighed, knowing they were right. "I'm gonna figure it out ok? I just… I know what I want… but at the same time I dont."
"That's not a good thing," Raelyn said. "You need to know what you want. That's important."
"I told you… I do know…" he sighed, "I just don't know how to put it into words in a way for others to understand" he said as he got to his feet again, turning to head off to the main cafeteria.
Camila and Raelyn shared a look. Raelyn's became determined as she followed him to the castleteria.
Ricarda suddenly picked up his pace, flying off into the castleteria, heading straight for the lunch line.
