As usual, I was torn between caving in to my sugar cravings and denying them in order to lose some weight.
“Uhh… I guess I’ll pass,” I decided finally, feigning nonchalance.

Gray’s POV:
I looked at Violeta, noticing her hesitance in responding. I didn’t pressure her into ordering anything else, but I did know I’d be taking her to Crocodile’s Cave some time soon to make up for it.
Sterling’s POV:
“All right, then. So we just want a slice of chocolate cake?” I double checked, glancing at Eden and Gray.
Eden’s POV:
Gray nodded slowly.
“I guess so,” he shrugged.
(Skip? Again?)
Not it)
(Not it. 😁)
(Sorry, C)
(I hate you guys. sighs)
Eden’s POV:
Once we were done eating and paying the bill (as expected, Gray and Violeta insisted to split it, which Sterling ended up agreeing to. But me paying the bill as well? I should just keep dreaming), we were out and walking in silence before I remembered something.
“My family holds a Masquerade ball on Halloween every year,” I started, my hand moving to link Sterling’s fingers together with mine. “Sterling and I will have invitations, and we’re welcome to bring plus ones. Do you want to come?”
(😉)
“Oh!” My eyebrows shot up in surprise, a smile overtaking my lips. “That… sounds really nice, thank you. I’d be happy to go if Gray wants to as well.”
Gray’s POV:
All eyes settled on me. I would have said yes. Especially since Violeta was looking at me like that, but I had responsibilities here.
“I honestly want to accept,” I started, running my hand through my hair. “But I can’t leave Ari behind.”
Sterling’s POV:
I glanced over at Eden with a question in my eyes. “I’m sure something could be arranged. Your parents are pretty understanding, E. Think they’d let him bring her?”
Eden’s POV:
I nodded, rolling my eyes a little.
“I can bend the rules a little,” I shrugged. “It’s fine if you bring Ari. Dad won’t mind.”
Gray raised an eyebrow.
“You sure?” He questioned, and when I nodded again, he grinned. “That’s great. Thanks, Eden.”
I smiled up at Gray, relieved. "What do you say?"
Gray’s POV:
“I’m in,” I smiled back at her. “Is it around Halloween, or on Halloween?”
“On Halloween,” Eden replied nonchalantly. “Don’t worry about the travel expenses. I’ll handle those.”
"Travel expenses?" I asked, tilting my head. "What do you mean?"
Sterling’s POV:
“Oh, we’re not actually originally from here,” I chuckled, somewhat awkwardly. “We’ll have to go back to our home.”
(Never mind my reply. XD)
Eden’s POV:
I shared Sterling’s awkwardness. It wasn’t every day we announced we weren’t from here. I wasn’t even looking forward for them to realize I was a McArthur and Sterling was the Ainsley. Not even a little bit.
“If you’re worried about missing classes, I’ll have that covered as well,” I offered with a confident look.
"Covered?" I frowned slightly, unsure why they both seemed to be so awkward. "How so?"
Eden’s POV:
“I’ll talk to the principal,” I answered. “I’ll be able to extend our small break. Anyway, you don’t have to worry about those things. Tomorrow, after school, you and I can check out what to wear for the ball.”
I nodded, clearing the confusion from my face. "That sounds good. Thanks again, I can't wait for this."
Eden’s POV:
I offered a small smile in return, glad she wasn’t about to ask for more information. I’d rather we remain like normal students for a while longer.
Gray cleared his throat, rubbing the back of his neck, shuffling his feet together.
“So we’ve got how long?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Two weeks, perhaps,” I answered. “We should be out of here at least two days early. Plane ride from California to Florida takes at least four hours, and we’ll have one day to rest.”
(I'm assuming you mean four, not forty?)
"Florida?" My eyes went round. "You guys are from Florida?"
(Shoot, I didn’t realize it gave me the car ride hours!)
