Finn watches her leave, then nuzzles into his stuffed tiger. He felt so stressed from his day…he felt so…tired. But sadly, he couldn’t really sleep. The pain was bothering him all night, and he hardly slept at all until around 5 in the morning when he passed out.
After another hour, he felt the sun shine through his window, making him up from his slumber. He sighed and stayed there. What was he supposed to do now? His arch nemesis…adopted him…at least he could now keep a close eye on her.
Aella walked back to Finns room, and knocked gently on the door
"Finn darling, we need to leave in around 3 hours, i am about to leave to go get some food for the week. Do you have clothes you can change into or would you like me to get some for you?"
Finn bites his lip. “No.” He said quietly.
The boys voice seemed even more raspy than before, and his voice trembled slightly.
Aella froze for a second
"Finn, are you okay? you dont seem good. May i come in?"
Finn sniffles, repeating “no.” And putting a pillow over his head. The poor kid was just so tired and terrified at the same time. He had no idea why…but he hated doctors and hospitals.
"Ok" mumbled Aella "I'm going to leave you for now, but please, dont hesitate for help".
Aella left the boys door, and went back to her room, slamming the door in fustration. She knew the boy was only young but she needed him in perfect health for her plan to work out.
She took off her coat, which reavled a all black body suit with her favourite chunky boots. She jumped off her 3rd story floor without hesitation, landing safely in a bush she had prepared earlier, and began her journey….
She kept to the allyways and lept over rooftops, until she was at her destination. She opened the door to her friends small house. Dissaponted that her friend wasnt there, she took the plants she needed and left, leaving some coins of her friends table, along with a note thanking her.
As Aella got back to her home, she put her coat back on and walked through the entrance with confidence. She went back to her room and again, ground some of the plants into a fine powder, and put the others for later use. Unlike the other powder she had made yesterday, this should help the boy sleep. She sprinkled it onto his meal and knocked on the door, entering slowly.
"i brought you some food, please try and eat a little bit"
Finn didn’t move from his hiding place. He kept his face hidden under the pillow and the blanket over him. After a while, he whispered a little “No thank you…” that would melt anyone’s heart.
The boy closed his restless eyes, trying to keep himself from crying again.
Aella sighed, and sat next to the boy
"what is wrong? please tell me, i would hate for you to live here but not have any sort of relationship with me"
her voice was full of empathy, but in her mind, she was getting bored of the boy, and was willing to go to extreme measures to displin him if he didnt cooperate
He didn’t respond for a while, then shudders. “I’m fine…” he mutters.
No…he wasn’t fine…he was scared. Terrified…tired…and very paranoid. He didn’t want to eat this food offered to him. He knew better than that…
"Dearest Finn, i can sense when your scared, is it because of the food? if it makes you feel any better ill eat some with you"
Aella had planned for this exact scenario, and took a bite of food from where she purposly didnt put any of the powder. She knew the boy would be suspicious, so she made sure that the powder was very mild, and would take a couple hours to kick in
Finn hugs his stuffed animal tighter, quiet. “You said you were gonna take me to a doctor…” he whispers. “You’re…not actually gonna…right?”
He sounded so innocent asking this. So pure. He was just a scared kid…
"if you dont want to, thats fine. Would it make you feel better if the doctor came here? you wont have to go to a hospital or anything!" Aella faked a smile
"but come, before you make any decisions, have some food, you must be starving! and besides, i made the chefs make it specially for you"
Finn peaked at the food, eyeballing it. He was picky when it came to food. Especially texture. But if he had to, he’d choke down anything. But he would always get sick afterwards.
He places his hand over his swollen neck, silent for a while. He then whispers, “No thank you.” Once again. “I’m sorry…” he murmurs. He always felt bad for turning down food…but he was still paranoid and worried about the food getting stuck again.
Aella frowned, internally screaming
"ok, well i still want you to eat something. Would you like some Dark chocolate? i saw on your report it said that you liked it?"
He bites his lip, then nods slightly. “O-ok…” he whispers. Chocolate never got stuck in his throat. Hence why he loved it so much. Perfect texture, melts easily, and is easy to chew and swallow. He would be sure to check for anything suspicious after he receives it though.
"Thats great! if u like, you can make it with me?"
Aella has a vial of the sleeping powder in her pocket, which she could easily slip into the sugar without him realising, as it was the same colour
He sighs. “I have a few dollars left…i’ll go buy some instead…” he rubs his neck and gets up, looking tired.
(Aella: internal screaming)
Aella was running out of patience, and she had to think of a plan. fast
"didnt you hear? Dark chocolate has been illegal to sell for quite some time, due to how expensive the ingrediants are. I went to a friends house today and i managed to get some of the things needed to make it. I would love for you to go out and buy some, but im afraid you cant. and besides! this will be a great bonding activity!!"
Finn gives her a look. “Liar.” He says simply, showing her a very recent receipt he had in his pocket. “I may be 10, but I know how this all works. And I bought dark chocolate just last week.”
Aella looks shocked, but comes up with an idea. fast
She starts quietly sobbing, tears streaking down her face. She was lucky her mother taught her how to fake cry.
"i -im sorry" she said quietly, shaking slightly "I - I just didnt k-know how to bond with you. Y- you seem like you hate me an- and i dont know why. I t-though i could maybe t- trick you into doing this with m-me so youd like m- me"
Aella hung her head, but silently praising herself. That was the most convincing she'd ever been
Finn stares at her. “Well…you do kill and steal and stuff- you’re a villain. I’m surprised they didn’t recognize you…” he mutters bluntly. He then realizes he may have been too blunt and sighs. “Sorry-“ he quickly apologized.
Aella celebrated quietly, before answering the child in a small voice.
"do you wanna know why, because belive me, i never wanted to hurt anyone. it wasnt my choice"
It was infact, her choice, but she realised this would be a great way to regain the boys trust
Finn huffs at her. “Yes it was. You chose to act through it. It’s not like you were controlled. Trust me I’ve been watching you. You show no guilt.” The boy had let himself be completely blunt with her. He honestly didn’t feel like faking at the moment.
