Finn stares at him. “Who’s gonna protect the city? And you’re always robbing people and hurting people!” He crosses his arms. “At least now I can keep an eye on you!”
The child’s attitude completely shifted to ‘hero’ mode. He had a defiant look on his face, mixed with a slight pout, plus a stare that would make anyone ‘scared’ as he called it.
Carson raised an eyebrow. "Keep an eye on me? Kid, I technically own you." he watched as the kids demeanor changed from timid to an annoying amount of self righteous. it was hilarious really.
Finn makes a face. “Nuh uh! You’re a villain! And you just got the hero to know where you live and everything! So technically…” he says mockingly, “I win!”
"first, you haven't even seen the house yet. Second, i can ground you. And third, you can't do anything without telling me. ok?"
Finns jaw drops. “Uh- no way!” His voice gets more raspy as he raises his voice, “Ima stop you from doing bad!”
Carson stifled a chuckle. "Don't hurt yourself." he said referring to Finn's voice.
The car stoped and the driver opened the door. Carson stepped out and waited for Finn to join him. "You can leave your bags in the car." he looked up at the hospital where he had sent so many people. He knew most of them didn't live, but he also knew that the ones who needed to did. His shadows saw to that.
Finn frowns, staying in the car. “What are we doing here? Are you sick?” He looked confused.
"No, you are." Carson said and walked into the main doors. Making sure his steps were small so that Finn could keep up.
"Hullo Mr. Assanti. what can we do for you today?" The front desk lady asked.
"This is my kid. Fix him." Carson started simply.
"mmhm… and what is his full name?"
Carson looked to Finn. What was his full name?
Finn hides behind Carson, frowning. The boy stayed quiet as he timidly looked up at the lady. He then started slowly making his way to the door back to the car.
Carson turned around to see Finn slowly backing to the door, and in two quick strides, blocks his path. He crouches down so as to be eye to eye with him. "Please trust me on this. It'll help you be not in pain." He held out his hand. "I'll be with you every step of the way, I promise nothing but good things will happen to you. But you need to trust me."
Finn looks terrified. He whimpers slightly and shakes his head. “No…” He mutters. He then tries to rush out, trying his best to push past Carson.
Carson reaches out an arm and catches him. "Why not?" He asked, his eyes softening. "What can i do to fix it? To make it better, easer?"
Finn shakes his head, now looking panicked. “I’m fine! Really! I don’t wanna go!” He whines, trying to fight him off.
Carson looked into his eyes. "Please?"
“No!” He whines, starting to cry. “No! I don’t want to!”
Tears started streaming down the boys cheeks as he sobs. He looked completely terrified. Usually, he wouldn’t be acting like this. But something made him have this childish response. Something in him said, “It’s to be a kid now.”
Carson's eyes softened as Finn started to cry. "Oh, oh." He opened his arms for a hug, but waited to see if Finn was willing instead of just pulling him in.
Finn wipes his eyes, hiccuping. He then looks at Carson for a while, distrust in his eyes. But after a moment, he sniffles and leans into him slightly. He was testing this situation. Seeing if something bad would happen. If it did, he would make sure he could escape.
The small boy tried to stop crying, but soon ended up failing and sobbing into Carsons arms.
"hey, hey it's ok. if you don't want to we don't have to do this right now." He gave Finn a little squees, but stayed looseso that Finn could except if he wanted to. He knew that finn didn't trust him and he had every right to.
Finn shudders, struggling to breathe. He leans more into Carson, sobbing even more. Little coughs and gasps for air showed just how much he usually struggled to breathe.
Carson stroked Finn's hair, picked him up and carried him to back to the car. He didn't let go until they had made it to Carson's house. He rocked back and forth, painfully aware how small finn was.
Finn leaned heavily into him. The man who had once tried to kill him, was now comforting him. Finn eventually calmed down, going from sobbing to small hiccups and sniffles.
The small boy grips onto Carson’s shirt, sniffling. He was still in shock, so he didn’t speak much, but he did give a little squeak as he nuzzled into Carson’s shoulder.
Carson looked down at Finn clutching his chest. "You ok?"
Finn nods slightly, hiccuping. He was still shaken up, but it was clear he was slowly calming down.
