(ye, we're skipping to the begining of the party)
Of course, Lady Amato made the party a masked ball.
Eric straightened his suit in front of the mirror. It was black, with a golden bowtie. In the spirit of the ball, he'd put a small pair of angel wings on his back, but kept his face uncovered. He didn't see the point in wearing a mask if everyone knew who he was. Besides, they were uncomfortable.
Lady Amato came in and smiled at him. "You look so handsome."
Eric nodded awkwardly. "Okay, I'm going downstairs, I guess."
Greyson sighed "devan teally?! A devil?! Do you know how cheesy that is?" He asked, fixing his dark red dress shirt.
"Yes! What is not romantic than a fallen angel, looking for his love? Something forbidden yet so passionate. Plus, it's not a classic devil, it's that charming, seductive kind." Devan explained, pulling on his own costume
Grey shook his head and nodded "I hate you…"
"Oh shush, you love the idea."
Eric walked down the stairs, into the crowd of masked rich people. The house was warm and smelled like expensive cologne, roses, and shrimp hors d'oeurves. He looked around, already dreading the hours of forced socialization to come.
"now remember, if she's there, ignore her. She's the one who dumped you. Not you. Play the mysterious, single, beautiful man card."
Greyson only nodded, sighed and headed over to the snack bar, grabbing a few snacks and heading over to a corner to watch "this will be fun…"
As he made his way through the crown, Eric spotted Lady Amato talking to Emmett and a tall young man who most likely was Paris. He really was handsome, she hadn't lied. Looked like a bit of an asshole, though. He stopped for a second, then shook his head and changed course, going for the snack bar. He was planning on raiding all of the bacon-wrapped shrimp, manners be damned.
Greyson headed back over to the snack bar and glared at everyone else. "Save some for me, beautiful angel," he muttered to the man who was hogging all the shrimp "save some for the lonely people in the corner." He took some shrimp and winked over his shoulder, walking back over to his corner
Eric blinked at the guy who'd just flirted with him, holding a plate stockpiled with shrimp. He quickly followed him, raising his voice so he could be heard over the chatter. "And what makes you think you can call me beautiful" -he glanced at the guy's costume- "devil boy?"
Grey laughed humorlessly and turned, having a little fun with the character he had decided to play as tonight. He smiled charmingly at the man "well, you are dressed as an angel, correct? And you're not bad looking, so one would think the name appropriate, am I wrong?"
Eric narrowed his eyes. The guy was pretty hot, which he'd just realized, so perhaps he'd come off a bit aloof. He smirked. "Yeah, I'll give you that. But you just met me, so unless you want me to think you're a fuckboy…" He let the sentence trailed off, then shrugged.
Greyson glared at the man but kept a light smile on his face "I assure you, I'm not. I wouldn't go through the trouble of loving a person to that extent then turning my back and leaving. But apparently actions speak louder than words." He shrugged "maybe I am what you claim, maybe not."
Eric raised his eyebrows and laughed. "Loving? Oh, yeah, definitely fuckboy."
Grey tilted his head "is there some sort of problem with loving a person?" He caught movement over the other's shoulder and internally groaned as he saw Devan giving him two thumbs up
Eric smiled indulgently. What the hell is this guy's game? "Of course not. However, my mother would seem to think so. She wants me to get with this Paris dude so she can get her company to merge with his dad's."
"that's just weird… And I'm guessing you're not in agreement with this?" Grey asked, grinning. "That is quite a problem. What happened a if you don't agree to this engagement? All gay hell breaks loose?"
Eric pursed his lips and chuckled. "I don't care how hot the guy is, I'm not getting with someone for political gain. I'm my own man, I'm legal and everything. They can't do shit. Besides," he continued, raising his chin and making eye contact with the man, "I believe in conducting your romantic affairs as you see fit. If you see someone you like, you should go for it. Wouldn't you agree?"
Grey nodded "I do indeed, though I can't speak for myself. I haven't had much luck in the romance department." He stuck out his hand "I'm Greyson,"
Eric smiled charmingly and shook his hand, keeping a firm grip. "Eric. Which family of assholes do you belong to?"
He sighed and pointed behind Eric to Devan "that one." He muttered, laughing as his cousin trailed a cute guy.
