"Rose, I… I…" Moxiey was speechless. "I… thought that to you'd maybe understand."
Rose shook her head. "What is there for me to understand?"
"Please don't tell my parents," Moxiey begged.
Ride pursed he lips and crossed her thin arms over her chest. The mermaids were both extremely beautiful, but while Moxiey was more slender, Rose was more narrow.
"Get rid of him. And don't ever go back to the surface again."
"Rose… I can't…"
"I'm trying to protect you, Moxiey! Can't you see?!" Rose snapped, tears in her eyes. "I just want you to be safe. You're my best friend, Moxiey…"
Moxiey bit her lip. Desperation inside of her wanted to go back, to stay with Grayson. To simply be with him and lose herself.
"I'll try," she whispered. It hurt beyond belief to just say those two little words.
Grayson waited in silence, feeling hopeless.
Rose nodded quietly. "Good."
Moxiey hurried back to her love and dove helplessly into his arms, crying.
Grayson held her tightly, extremely worried. “What’s wrong?” He asked cautiously, nervous for the answer.
"Rose said that she wouldn't tell my parents about you as long as I never go to the surface again!" the mermaid cried in agony.
Grayson felt a tear slide down his face and he pulled Moxiey close to him. "Anything for you Moxiey, do what you have to."
"But I can't," she sobbed, throwing her arms around his neck. "I'll miss you too much."
"You'll have a life down here Moxiey, you deserve better." Grayson said, his voice cracking on the last word.
"I don't want a life down here. I want you," she cried.
"I want you too Moxiey." He kissed her gently, wiping away her tears.
"You need to go," she whispered painfully, embracing his touch.
"I know." He said quietly, pulling away from her.
"Let me take you back," she begged.
"I will. Just hurry." He pleaded. He didn't want to cause anymore damage then he already had.
Moxiey made him a bubble and quickly pulled him through the water and back to the beach. Once she reached the surface, she got close enough that he could stand and she could still swim.
(Honestly, this is gonna get Little Mermaid real fast.)
(yess xD)
Grayson kissed her hard, one last time, savoring her.
Moxiey pressed herself against him as close as she could get. She drew back several inches to whisper, "I love you, Grayson."
"I love you too." He replied, slowly letting her go.
Moxiey sunk back into the water. She looked at him through teary eyes before diving back down beneath the waves.
Grayson stayed seated on the rock for a couple hours, waiting, for some reason, for Moxiey to come. He knew she wouldn't.
Moxiey didn't immediately go back home. She swam as far as she could before her tail quit on her and she floated down to the bottom in tears. Her back was cradled by the filmy sand.
"Oh, we have a visitor!"
Moxiey jumped and whirled around. "Who-Who's there?" A mermaid swam out of the shadows, a sly grin on her face. Moxiey gasped. "You're Diara! The sea witch!"
"Hm… yes that's me." She shrugged, not even trying to deny it. "Well, what's wrong dear? Why are you so sad?"
Moxiey sighed. "My love and I have been separated for eternity," she replied sadly.
"My my my. How upsetting!" Diara pitied the girl. "That happened to me too. Maybe I can help you."
The young mermaid looked up. "R-Really? You could?"
Diara nodded. "Follow me," she instructed, taking Moxiey's wrist and pulling her into a nearby cavern. Moxiey gasped, then began to willingly follow. Something brushed her arm and she shrieked.
Diara laughed. "Oh, I'm sorry. Lexter is a bit… out of sorts today." The tiger shark swam into clear view and Moxiey gulped nervously.
"So, how can you help me?"
"I can do anything! Please, tell me the whole story," the sea witch urged. Moxiey did as she was told. "I see… well, there is one thing…"
"Please!" Moxiey begged, flinging herself at the sea witch. "What is it? I'll do anything!"
"It does require a payment, of sorts. But not now. My dear…" Diara looked expectant.
"Oh. Moxiey."
"My dear Moxiey. I can make you a human!" Diara said powerfully.
"Really? Oh, how?" Moxiey exclaimed.
"Simply drink this, my dear," Diara said, handing the mermaid a vial.
Moxiey quickly drained the strange liquid. She suddenly began to choke, looking at Diara with a panicked expression. Diara smirked and snapped her fingers. Moxiey teleported to the beach, behind several rocks that were about 50 yards away from Grayson. She gasped loudly and looked down. Legs! She had legs! She tried to take several steps and fell quickly, causing sand to spray up in her face. But legs!
(Oof, wow. I'm sorry that this is so long!)
(That’s ok)
Grayson frowned and looked around. His eyes widened. “M-Moxiey?!”
Moxiey pushed herself up onto all fours. She looked around. Relief smacked her. "Grayson!"
(that was…
abrupt)
