She lifted her head, swiping tears and streaks of melted makeup off her cheeks, sniffling as she nodded.
She lifted her head, swiping tears and streaks of melted makeup off her cheeks, sniffling as she nodded.
Dorian rested a hand on her cheek, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead, "Can I carry you?"
She nodded once again, feeling like an absolute mess and burden. She should've gone with them. She shouldn't have made him go through this.
He hooked his arms under her legs, effortlessly picking her up bridal style and holding her close to his chest. He hated what she had to go through, hated that she'd been stuck in that environment for so long.
It hadn't always been like this. It only started when her mother died. Her brothers became abusive, her sisters snobbish, and her father turned a blind eye to it all. And there she was, stuck in the middle. "I'm sorry…" She sobbed. "I'm sorry I got you involved, it shouldn't have come to this…"
"You have nothing to apoligse for, sweetheart," Dorian said gently, "You have done nothing wrong, and I would gladly do it all again to defend your beautiful self."
She buried her face in his chest. "You shouldn't have to deal with my messy home life. You deserve someone more stable than me…"
"Fiona, there's no one else I'd rather be with. I understand your home life is complicated, so is mine but I'm going to stick by your side and help you through it all."
"That's the problem! You have your own life to deal with, you shouldn't have to take on the responsibility of someone else's…"
"I don't care. You're apart of my life now. I don't care if I have to take on extra responsibilities, I'll do it gladly if it's for you."
She sighed softly. "If this went on for long enough…how far do you think we'd go? Do you think you'd actually marry me? Or would you just get sick of me and throw me back to them?" She couldn't help but ask.
Dorian stopped in his tracks, looking down at her, "If I got to marry you, I'd be the luckiest man in the world. Gosh Fiona, I'd never never you, I'd never get sick of you."
"Well…" A small smile spread across her lips. "I know you don't have a fiance and I don't either. I am eligible since I'm 17. If you really mean it…I'd be more than happy to marry you." She glanced up at him shyly.
Dorian smiled back down at her, resting his forehead against hers, "Well then, Fiona, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
"Of course, I'd love nothing more." Her smile grew and her entire mood brightened. She was actually going to marry him!
Dorian grinned and he kissed the end of her nose, "Now I just need to find you a ring. Normally it's the other way round but guess we're doing things differently."
"Weird ways for a very weird couple." She giggled, kissing him softly.
Dorian smiled, kissing her gently back.
This was actually happening, she was actually going to get married and better yet, she was marrying him. Just the thought of it sent chills down her spine.
He pulled away a moment later, smiling down at her, "There will be time for all of that later, love." He said, continuing to walk the short distance to the cabin.
She giggled softly, cuddling into his chest with a smile. What had she done to meet someone like him?
Dorian walked them the rest of the way to the cabin, pushing open the door with his foot. He walked them in, shut the door and placed her gently on the couch.
She brushed her hair out of her face, just watching him with a curious smile.
"Do you actually want some tea this time?" He asked, sending her a grin.
"Yes, that'd be nice." She rolled her eyes, chuckling softly to herself.
