"But I want to… wanna thank you for helping me out n' stuff." Nich replied, struggling to keep his eyes open. Regardless, he looked back at Rowan when he saw her writing something else. "Yeah, I didn't really sleep much last night. Couldn't get comfortable." He yawned and winced as the movement tugged at his partially healed wounds. "You don't look like you had much more luck than me."
I got a few hours in, Rowan wrote out which was a total lie on her part. She got zero hours of sleep, but if it meant Nich would go get some rest without worrying about her, then she was going to lie. She gave him a little smile making sure not to show any bit of the inside of her mouth which she knew was coated in a thin reminiscent layer of blood, Besides I was just doing what anyone would do helping you out. So please, just get some rest.
"Mm… that's good, I guess." Nich replied, turning his ears back. "I'll get some rest, but I still want to take you to the market. Non… non-negotiable…" He mumbled, yawning and wincing again as he closed his eyes. Now that some of the pain was eased, he was able to pass it in his friend's arms.
"He'll be alright. He's pulled through much worse than this." The man laughed heartily, adjusting his hold on Nich so he'd be more comfortable.
I don't doubt you, Rowan replied giving Nich's friend a lopsided smile. Now that Nich was passed out she could go directly against his wishes and go to the market by herself. She tipped her hat to the friend as a way of saying goodbye before turning around to head off to the local market. She didn't get far before breaking out into yet another coughing fit, one that made her stop and double over as the coughing and the blood wouldn't stop.
Nich was still passed out, but a smaller guy was leaving the tavern and spotted Rowan doubled over in the walkway. She'd seemed fine when she left a minute ago, but she clearly wasn't now. He hurried her forward and ushered her off to the side so she wouldn't get bumped by anyone and then got started checking on her. "Hey, hey, you alright?" He asked worriedly, bending so that Rowan could see him.
(Adding random extra guys lol, technically some forgotten ocs I might bring back 🤔)
(This one is Finn Carmelo, he's a little younger than Nich)
(Yoo that's fine. Good to know good to know)
I'm fine! I'm fine! Just give me a moment, Rowan started writing the moment she was pulled out of the street. But her head was getting lighter and the coughing refused to stop. She knew all she needed to do was get to the market and back home in one piece so she could brew the potion. Rowan began to pull away and only managed to take one step backwards before her eyes rolled up and she fell to the ground, passed out.
"Miss?" The guy looked around, seeming nervous. He was a healer himself, but it was hard to try anything when he didn't know what was wrong with Rowan. He was also still pretty young and not an exceptionally experienced healer, so he didn't want to try anything unless he was confident it wouldn't make anything else. "I'm Finn, I'm with the guild, I'm gonna bring you back to get you some help, okay?" He explained nervously. When Rowan suddenly passed out, Finn scrambled to catch her before she hit the ground, but mostly managed to fall with her and perhaps soften the blow a little. After he recovered, he strainingly lifted Rowan into a bridal carry and hurried her back to the tavern.
(Feel free to add anyone you want lol)
(This is Finn btw, he's a 19 year old Trans boy and he's about 5'6 :>)
One of the fellow guild members, a young lady by the name of Eclipsa, was the first to spot Finn carrying Rowan. She quickly ran over to them with a concerned look on her face that only grew the better Eclipsa got acquainted with the situation. There were spots of blood on Rowan's mouth, and even more, came gurgling out as the unconscious girl coughed. Eclipsa went to take Rowan from Finn as she asked, "What happened?"
Finn looked relieved when someone came to help and took the burden of Rowan's weight from him. He shrugged at the question, equally as concerned. "I have no idea. I barely know her, honestly, she's new to the guild, but I don't think she can talk normally… she sorta writes in the air instead." He feigned writing in the air with one finger to show what he meant. "I was just walking to the guild when I saw her like, doubled over, coughing really bad, so I got her out of the walkway and she started coughing up blood and passed out?" He rambled on, visibly stressed. "I-I know I'm a healer and all, but it's sorta hard to heal somebody when you don't know what's wrong with them…"
"Then who does know her well enough to be able to know what's wrong?" Eclipsa asked as she mentally began to go through her knowledge of different reasons as to what could be causing this. She began to quickly walk towards the guild's infirmary, because of the nature of what they did an infirmary was a must, and gestured for Finn to follow her. As she walked began to throw out some ideas as to what was wrong, "She doesn't speak, correct? But she can hear just fine so she must be mute for one reason or another. Or it could be completely unrelated, but I have a feeling it's not. Perhaps some sort of medical condition? Or a spell that was cast, possible a curse?"
Finn followed Eclipsa, keeping an eye on Rowan. "Well, she just did a job with Nich I believe. They stayed longer since he got hurt and she was tending to him. He still may not know, but he probably knows her the best of anyone in the guild right now." He shrugged. "When I left, he was either asleep or unconscious, so he may not really be available to help unless we wake him." He picked up his pace, feeling the pressure and urgency of the situation. "I haven't really interacted with her much at all, so I'm not sure why she doesn't speak."
"If he's the only one who really knows anything about her, then I want you to go wake him up," Eclipsa told him as she laid Rowan down on one of the cots in the infirmary. Her magic specialty wasn't healing or even anything remotely useful in the current situation, but she was one of the most senior members of the guild and as such had a lot of knowledge about what might be the cause. She began to rustle around the infirmary to try and find anything that might be of use.
"Um… right, I'll be right back!" Finn ran off to the tavern to try and find Nich. He was still out cold, so he had to explain the situation to the guy holding him so that they could wake him up. Nich was still very groggy when they woke him, but became a little more alert when he heard there was something wrong with Rowan. He still wasn't really in any state to be walking, so Finn gave him a piggyback ride to the infirmary. "I got Nich!" He announced to Eclipsa upon his return.
"Good," Eclipsa replied looking up from the current book she was skimming through. So far she hadn't found anything useful and it seemed Rowan's condition only seemed to be worsening. Her mind wandered to some of the worse reasonings for Rowan's current affliction and sent a silent prayer that she was wrong. Eclipsa looked to Nich, "Nich, do you know what is wrong with her? According to Finn, she suddenly doubled over, started coughing up blood, and then passed out."
Nich was only more concerned at the explanation, of course, and got off of Finn's back to limp over to Rowan. "It hasn't been this bad before when I've been around… I wish I could be of more help. She didn't like to talk about it, so I have to assume it's some sort of personal issue. Either an injury or a curse. She's not really the type to share a lot of personal information…" He sighed softly, putting his hands on the cot to support himself. "She would take these potions that seemed to help, but I'm not sure what's in them. I'm not a healer or alchemist, and it was a touchy subject, so I didn't ever bring it up."
"A potion? What did the potion look like?" Eclipsa seemed to perk up at the mention of a potion. She knew it was an invasion of privacy, but this was an emergency. So the elder member began to scour through Rowan's back in hopes to find one of these said potions. Eclipsa was surprised to find that the bag was filled primarily with empty bottles, a few meager herbs, other basic survival supplies like rations, and a book. But no potions. She looked up at Nich and Finn worryingly, "If she had been taking potions to help, it would seem she's run out. The only things in her bag are supplies and a book."
(I have no idea so I'm just sorta improvising lol, I can change anything you want)
"Um… the potions were sorta purple and glowy, and pretty small. They smelled bitter, so I can't imagine they tasted very good. The herbs I saw in her bag weren't ones I was familiar with. One had these sort of little white buds or flowers with a really dark stem, there was a smaller frondy blue-green one that was lighter, and… ah… a really dark, smooth leaf. Almost black, smelled awful. I think there might have been… a dash of honey? That's what it smelled like, anyway. Just a bit. And I saw teabags in her bag too, but I don't know if they're in the potion or not…" Nich explained, trying to remember anything that might be helpful.
(…Me sitting here having described the potions as being a "glowing violet liquid")
(I forgot wsdghjk 😭 I'll change it lol, I skimmed through earlier but didn't see it)
(Hopefully that's fine, lmk if you think there's anything else that should be changed/added (Nich doesn't know a lot about herbs))
"Purple and glowy," Eclipsa repeated as she grabbed a nearby potion book and began to skim through it. She frowned as she wasn't finding any potion that matched that description. She went back to the beginning of the book to go through ingredients. As she did this, she spoke to Finn, "Finn, do you know of any potions that match that description or could be made with any combination of those ingredients?"
Finn considered, and then shook his head a bit. "Not really… it's possible that she sort of devised her own if whatever her condition is isn't… common. I'm not sure…" He sighed softly, looking nervous. "Do you think it would be best to just try and do general healing to make her feel better until she can wake up and tell us what the potion is?" He asked.
"Perhaps," Eclipsa contemplated as she continue to look through the book. She put the book down and reached once again for Rowan's bag removing the book inside, "But if she did have her own recipe, do you think she could have written it in here?"
