Hey! I’ve been bouncing these ideas around for a while, but I’m hoping that they’re cohesive enough to use, haha! I’m looking for this to be a lesbian romance, just FYI.

Alright so the ideas (I’m open to tweaking them!)

They’re based around old wive’s tales, any of them or a mix is good with me!:

1- If you don’t hold your breath in/around a graveyard, you’ll get possessed or die.

2- If you don’t make your bed in the morning, the devil will find his way into your home and get in your bed.

3- Spilling salt will invite the devil into your home.

4- Animals can sense death and evil spirits.

I want to incorporate a number of old superstitions into this rp, honestly. If you’ve got some that you’d like to add, just let me know! I’m currently compiling a whole list of ones that I find particularly interesting, I’ll post it if someone’s interested.

Time for rules!

  • andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)’s Rules.
  • Swear as much as you want, I don’t really care! Slurs are.. a beast of their own. Don’t use them without clearing with me first, and I’ll do the same.
  • Responses don’t have to be essay length. Actually, I’d prefer you not write a whole 3 page paper, just make your response at least two lines. Please.
  • I don’t expect you to carry the plot, that’s something we should both shoulder, but please at least give ideas & make your responses workable!

@GoblinKing

Sure thing! I was leaning towards a demon x human romance, as the name suggests, lmao. If you’re interested in that, would you mind if I played the demon?

Deleted user

That was what I was thinking it was so I'm totally down for that. And I was actually hoping you'd be the demon lol.

@GoblinKing

Good, good, lmao! Do you have any old superstitions you like? I’m leaning towards bad luck, and currently blocking some rough ideas. Here’s what I have so far:

Your character might want to be either completely normal or have some kind of supernatural ties (psychic, witch, etc). It might be best if she’s got any kind of pet, mainly because of animals’ reactions to bad spirits & demons.

I’m torn between modern day and historical (I’m thinking medieval), wbu?

Deleted user

Well, at literally any other time I could probably think of at least one superstition, but I literally can't think of anything at the moment. I think she'll be normal, but definitely a pet.
I'm definitely better with modern, but I've done medieval before, so I'm fine with either.

@GoblinKing

Cool, cool! Most of my superstitions have to do with animals, tbh. We can do modern, for sure. Rural or urban?

Here’s those superstitions I was talking about, by the way:

  • Magpies carry a drop of the devil’s blood under their tongue. Cut it out, and the bird can speak.

  • If you see a spider crawling up your door, expect a visit from a stranger.

  • If a rooster crows at your front door, expect company.

  • Putting keys on the table is bad luck.

  • A coyote crossing your path is said to bring bad luck.

  • Placing two mirrors opposite to one another opens a doorway for the devil.

  • If you spill salt, immediately throw it over your left shoulder to blind any demons behind you.

That’s just a few! I have more, lol.

Deleted user

That's probably enough for now lol. And either works for me. If you don't have a preference, maybe she lives in a rural neighborhood/house, but there's a city half an hour to an hour away? idk lol

@GoblinKing

That would be good. Personally I think rural would be easier to work in the animals, so that would be perfect! Do you want templates for this, or do you want to link character pages?

Deleted user

I would prefer templates if that's okay with you. Also, I won't be able to fill it out tonight, it'll have to be sometime tomorrow.

@GoblinKing

That’s no issue, don’t sweat it. Here’s the template:

Full Name : Claudia Alarie (Note- this is her ‘human name’)
Nicknames (if any) : N/A
Age : Appears roughly 20/21
Gender : Female
Sexuality : Lesbian
Personality : Sarcastic, sharp-tongued, hates being told what to do. She’s an accidental flirt at times who doesn’t exactly know when to stop joking around. Her general vibe is between failed standup comedian and uncle with questionable morals.
Physical Appearance* : Claudia’s most noticeable feature is her red skin. She’s above average height, roughly 5’11”, with more leg than torso. Face-wise, she’s a lot to take in. Claudia has a pronounced facial structure, complete with large tusk-like bottom canines and horns the same shade as her skin. Her eyes are canary yellow in the scleras, but cherry red in the irises. Her hair is jet black and stick-straight, roughly down to her mid-back in length.
(https://pin.it/vpt6d5chevvb74 reference for face shape!)
Clothing style, accessories* : Claudia dresses in a way that could most succinctly be described as an ‘e-girl’. Grungy, lots of red and black. She’s usually seen in worn-out fishnets, a black and red plaid skirt, and any oversized, grungy t-shirt. Her favorite accessories are wallet chains/chain necklaces, her pheasant-foot earrings, and her coyote’s foot keychain. Shoes are normally any kind of goth/punk platform boot. (https://pin.it/u4khljfggukcko, https://pin.it/jjdb4zyy7ju5ir)
Likes : Spicy, sour, and bitter foods, dark chocolate, (black) dogs, horror movies, humans, cooking, and luck-based games
Dislikes : Milk chocolate, Halloween (and most holidays), anything extra sweet, reading, and horses
Hobbies : Cooking, gambling, playing the fiddle, most things that she sees humans do she’ll try to like.
Favorite possession: It’s not technically a possession, but Claudia has a magpie companion named Tricky.
Background (Optional): Because she’s a demon, Claudia wasn’t exactly born, per say. She was more or less spawned in Hell to gather souls & strike up deals. Claudia quickly grew fond of humans, growing some sort of a fascination with them and their ways of life. She quickly adopted many of their customs & fashions, and usually spends her days traveling from place to place on Earth instead of spending time in the netherworld.

Full Name: Penelope Garcia
Nicknames (if any): N/A, but open to some
Age:19
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual
Personality: Penelope is very sweet, innocent, and kind. Always looking out for others, almost like a closeted mom friend. She almost always has a smile on her face, unless she has been crossed or someone did something she thinks is totally despicable. Basically, she is the human version of Canada… everyone loves her lol. She has a fun sense of humor, loving puns and dad jokes, as well as almost any other jokes. She is also very impulsive, but she'd insecure about said impulses. If she feels it was out of place or uncomfortable for someone, she apologizes. Actually, even if it wasn't a bad impulse, she still apologizes. Out of habit, any time she's hoping for something, she crosses her fingers. She only picks up heads up coins off the ground, even though it's only good and bad luck for pennies. Penelope knows a lot more about good and bad luck-type superstitions than any others, so in her eyes, she's the luckiest person in her town.
Physical Appearance: Penelope is on the shorter side, standing at only 5' 1". She is petite with slight curves and little muscle. Her skin is pale but tans well in the sun. She has freckles all over her body, concentrated more on her cheeks, arms, and neck. A smallish messy heart-shaped birthmark is on the top of her left hand. She has roundish, slightly larger eyes that are pine green. She has black hair with reddish-brown highlights. It's cut short, into a pixie cut, and it's lightly curly. Clothing style, accessories: Penelope has a very feminine style, wearing many summer dresses, skirts with blouses, and, in the colder seasons, knee-high socks with skirts. She enjoys floral patterns and she dresses in many colors. Her clothes are always very matching, with maybe one color on her patterned shirt match the color of her skirt, while another color matches her shoes. She always wears her metal rabbit foot-shaped necklace, no matter what. Her shoes usually are either white high top converse or short leather sandals. Likes: Flowers, soft things, laying on grass staring up at the clouds, her little old-style town, vintage things, rollerblades
Dislikes: Abandoned buildings, anything relatively creepy, spicy and bitter food, long hair on herself
Hobbies: painting, decorating, baking, rollerblading
Favorite possession: Her rabbit foot charm necklace, it was originally her great-great aunt's. And her grandfather's salt shaker.
Background (Optional):

(Whew, finally lol. Sorry that took so long.)

@GoblinKing

(She’s great! How do you want this to start? I’m thinking Penelope slips up and accidentally does one of the things said to attract demons or bad spirits, but what about you? I’m gonna be adding some omens, for sure.)

Deleted user

(I think that's a really good idea. I actually have an idea for how she slips up, so maybe I should start? I also just remembered I forgot to give her a pet lol)

Today was a very important day. It was the last day that Penelope's sister, Charlotte, was unmarried. Her sister's wedding was the next day and they were hanging out all day to hopefully ease Charlotte's nerves. Of course, Penelope wasn't the only one that was going to be there. But she acted as if she was the only one making this her number one priority that day. She had planned everything out and gotten things reserved. She was supposed to meet Charlotte at her house early to check on things and make sure everything was still open and reserved. It was all planned out to a T, but of course, that didn't happen today.

Penelope awoke that morning, already late. The one thing she never did the day before was set an alarm for herself. Her first thought was, Great I'm early! But once she turned on her phone, that was quite the opposite of her reaction. She quickly threw her blankets off of herself. She went straight to her closet and changed, not doing anything about her unmade bed. Without much more time being wasted, she yanked her phone off of her bedside table. Dashing into the living room, she grabbed a denim jacket and headed out the main door, making sure to lock it. But while she had gone through the door, she did two things, 1) She forgot the mirror that she was going to give Charlotte as an early wedding present and 2) She bumped said mirror when she rushed out and it fell on the floor, not shattering but it turned to face the life-size mirror across from the door.

@GoblinKing

A small white spider skittered away from Penelope’s back door. Clouds had already begun to form together in the sky by the time that Penelope had left the house, a swirling mass of cool grays and blue. The shrieks of coyotes split the tense air as they scurried across the broken and worn asphalt. One of Penelope’s neighbors had let his chickens out that morning, leaving his rooster to wander and crow as he pleased.

Claudia pulled herself through the full-size mirror. She was a little disheveled, a little less put-together than she would’ve liked, but traveling through nontraditional doorways always came with its own set of drawbacks. Outside a dog screamed and howled, attracting a cacophony of noises from neighboring pets. Rain fell. Slowly at first, but quickly descending into a downpour of water from above.

What a perfect addition to her day. Penelope heard the coyotes and the rooster and the mess of sound. She lifted her denim jacket over her head as she started into a run. Spotting one of the coyotes just made her run faster, determined to keep one out of her path. But, of course, one did after just a couple seconds. This was the first bad luck omen Penelope has experienced in quite a while, and that worried her. Either it would be not a super bad thing since she's had lots of good luck, or it will be super bad to make up for all the bad luck she hasn't had.

@GoblinKing

An owl hooted overhead. Odd enough, given that it was still day, but the sound combined with the other happenings that day just felt off.

Back at Penelope’s home, Claudia had crashed in her bed. She didn’t sleep often, but when she did? Well, it was glorious. The rain still pelted down outside, not showing any signs of wanting to stop.

Penelope got to the condo that Charlotte was staying in at the moment and ran under the porch covering. She shivered as she fixed her jacket around her correctly, glancing behind her. She rang the doorbell a few times in a rown to signal it was her instead of someone else. But instead of her sister, it was one of her sister's friends. "Oh, you must be Penelope! We're all here and we were just waiting for you actually." Explained the girl, inviting Penelope inside.
"Yeah, I am. Thank you." Penelope said to the female. She caught sight if her sister and ran over to her. "I'm so so sorry I'm late! But I have something for you as an early wedding present to make up for it!" Penelope said energetically. After a minute or two of rummaging around in her pockets, in panic, she realized she left it at home. Her eyes went wide with worry. "I need to go back home and get it… I'm sorry… I'm such a mess today."

@GoblinKing

Claudia was dead asleep, her mouth hanging partially open. This was somewhat caused by the fact that her tusks forced her mouth open at all times, but also because she was simply snoring. A magpie perched on Penelope’s windowsill, pecking at the windowpanes to get in.

Charlotte smiled and wrapped Penelope in a hug. "It's okay, you know. You're always on top of everything, so it's totally fine if you slip up now and again." She whispered softly. Penelope sighed, still feeling bad about it.
"I'm still going to go get it though, you need it tomorrow," Penelope said, pulling away from the hug. The friend from earlier grabbed an umbrella from the closet and opened it while handing it to Penelope. She wasn't looking when she started grabbing it, but quickly noticed it was open. Instantly, she dropped it. "Please do not open umbrellas inside, at very least do not hand it to me… I've had enough bad luck omens today already." She mumbled the last part, everyone just looked at her confused and one stepped forward to close the umbrella. Penelope sighed and took it before going back outside, gladly with an umbrella this time.

Nothing out of the ordinary on the way back to her house, except the crazy amount of sounds still. In less time than before, Penelope got to her house, struggling to unlock her door, though eventually, she did. Upon getting inside, she threw the umbrella on the floor and frantically started looking around for the mirror.

@GoblinKing

The magpie on her windowsill, seeing the opportunity to get inside, entered through Penelope's door and perched on the nearest piece of furniture. Claudia slept through the whole ordeal, not even underneath the covers. She was sprawled out on top of Penelope’s bed, not giving a damn about the fact that this was absolutely not her home, and therefore absolutely not her bed.

Penelope still couldn't find the mirror, of course not thinking it would be on the floor. She saw the magpie and sighed very loudly. She eventually headed to her room, even though she was sure it wasn't in there. Still frantic, she opened the door with much force, slamming it into the wall. Her gaze landed on the bed then the demon. She let out a weak scream and fell backward onto the floor.
