Yep I've decided I have to do this. I'm a bit rusty since I haven't rped or written for a bit, you can thank school for that lol. (If you want a sample or something here's this thing I put in a document so I could specifically use it as an example: https://www.notebook.ai/documents/136024) I couldn't think of a plot so this is going to be more focused on dynamics than plot, really. I just want this to be a fun chaotic rp, however feel free to give your input on the plot, I'm pretty open to new ideas.

Another quick note, if any of this doesn't make sense, it's because it's 3 AM and I am currently lacking critical thinking skills. Anyway!

Overview
Happy End Circus is your average run-of-the-mill circus. Their goals are to entertain people, make money, and … hide from the government? Yeah, turns out this circus is not exactly what it seems. The performers and staff are actually wanted criminals, and the Circus is all a ruse to hide their identities and let them live somewhat normal lives. Or, well, as normal as life in a circus can be.

That's pretty much the gist of it. Criminals hiding from the government, having to put up with each other, some kind of circus thing, add it all together and you get a chaotic mess. Also, you're character does not need to be a criminal, they just have to have a reason to be at the circus. The circus obviously seems to let almost anyone work for them, so you can be pretty creative here.
So below is a template for your character, some explanations for them:

Alias/performer name: This is just the name they use in public or while performing. Since there may be characters who are not performers, I also just put Alias. Remember, they are (mostly) wanted criminals, so using their real names in public might not be the smartest move.
Role: What is their role in the circus? They could be a performer like a tightrope walker, trapeze artist, clown, etc. (If you can't think of one just search "Circus roles") They could also be staff, like a janitor, someone who tends to the animals, whatever.
Background: I actually don't need an entire origin story, you can just say what crime they committed (if any) or why they're at the circus. You can also put how they found out about it in the first place if you want, everything's up to you.

Here's mine

Name: Saoirse Alinsky (Pronounced like "Sur-shuh" by the way)
Alias/performer name: Saoirse. They couldn't care less if the government found her, it'll probably be fun having to run away from them again. It'll be like a big game of tag! Well, that's how she thinks of it at least.
Role: Ringleader
Age: 20
Gender and pronouns: Demigirl, she/they
Personality: Saoirse is extremely childish and thrill-seeking, they'll do anything for an adrenaline rush. Instead of deciding things by what is wrong or right, she often goes with the decision she deems to be more fun. They're very outgoing and friendly and cares greatly for everyone at the circus, although it's more in the way a child might take great care of their toys to ensure nothing happens to them. They have a hard time reading people's facial expressions, which leads her to disregard people's feelings quite often. Despite seeming very carefree, Saoirse takes her job as ringleader very seriously. After all, doing a bad job could possibly ruin the fun at the circus. They can get upset easily if things don't go the way they wanted.
Appearance: Saoirse has messy, brown hair that is just below her jawline. She has pale skin and their eyes are a very dark brown, usually seen as black in most lighting. They usually wear sweaters and shorts when not wearing her ringleader costume. They stand at about 5'4. (I might make a picrew later. What can I say, they're fun to make)
Background: Saoirse came from an extremely wealthy family. They never had to work or really do anything since they had so much money, which left Saoirse to be very bored with their life. So in order to have more fun she would partake in activities such as gambling, and in more extreme cases would even hire hitmen to kill people she knew because of how thrilling it was. She was eventually caught for everything they were doing, so they ran away from their old life and eventually found the circus during her time exploring random places. She became the ringleader and helped the circus become a bit of a success, also allowing anyone needing a place to go like she did to join the circus.
Other: I'm editing this to be a bit more detailed and just fix a few things since I was really tired and rushing when I first made this. Saoirse isn't the owner of the circus, the owners aren't actually on the circus much, unlike the others who literally live there.

Name: Silas Elinov
Alias/performer name: Corvid
Role: Falconer, and very flexible. Does tricks with his crows, named Argo, Aros, Grev, Ruv, and Sully. The circus made him use only male crows, to avoid them mating but they’re gay and they love each other very much
Age: 21
Gender and pronouns: trans man, he/him
Personality: Pretty cold at first. Doesn’t seem like a friendly guy, and is kind of imposing, but doesn’t try to be rude. He’s very caring, and looks after his friends. Very anxious, and tends to overanalyze social cues. Doesn’t tell people about his worries, and just bottles them up out of fear of being belittled or worrying his friends. Has clinical anxiety, but stopped taking his meds when he moved out. Man is very touch starved; will probably seem really tense during hugs, but relaxes quickly. He graduated high school as an AP student, and went to medical school for 3 years before disappearing, so he’s the one that cares for the performers when they’re sick or injured. Very scared of being seen as ‘not good enough,’ and tends to push people away when he’s on the edge of an anxiety attack. Has panic attacks often…
Appearance: Silas is pretty pale. He has black hair that falls just below his ears, with the sides shaved, and usually has it tied back in a man bun. About 6’2. Has scars on his arms from the crows he trains accidentally digging their talons into him. His eyes are light grey, and he’s pretty thin. Wears a black leather cloak and a plague mask that is white with silver details.
Background: Grew up in an average middle class family. He was declared intellectually gifted from a young age, and his parents always expected more from him because of it. His parents always put a lot of pressure on him to do well in school, and he pushed himself as hard as he could to please them. He was plenty smart enough for the work, but his poor self-esteem and generally bad mental health interfered, and his parents’ constant pressure didn’t help. He moved out as soon as he graduated high school, moving into a friend’s apartment. The friend wasn’t very financially stable, so he would steal money from government bank accounts with the power of ✨hacking✨ to give him some stability. He also stole money to pay for his transition, and a degree in medicine. He has fully transitioned, and is on the run from the government. He’s a raging anarcho-communist, and may or may not have downed a few government surveillance sites in the past. Has a great understanding of technology and science, and uses this to his advantage during his acts. He has a very strong relationship with his crows, and they’re usually the ones to notify others if he’s having an anxiety attack, as he’s scared of seeming like a burden and usually can’t move much when he’s panicking. He isn’t a fan of performing in front of crowds, so he wears his plague mask during performances. Taught his crows to say simple phrases, and has conversations with them when he feels lonely. (Crows are really smart, and can actually do this!)

Name: Enrique Dante

Alias/performer: Mister Dante

Role: Matador. Literally is just a really talented matador.

Age: 19

Gender and pronouns: Male, He/Him

Personality: Enrique is an energetic young man with enough positivity to share between… basically everyone. He’s the cheerful one in a stressful situation, but when positivity doesn’t work, his bull probably will. He’s known to be a bit clumsy, constantly slipping and falling on the most random of things. But whenever it’s his time to shine, he’s a prodigy in his field. Bruises and cuts on his body were not without a worthy sacrifice after all. Combining the act of bull fighting and gymnastics (and a surprisingly 'friendly' bull named Luca), Enrique is always the best in his field… except that one time his stomach got punctured but we don’t talk about that—

Appearance: Standing at 6’4, Enrique is just slightly muscular with a tanned skin tone. He has a scar on his belly from that one time Luca did him wrong. His medium length brown hair and green eyes complement his looks as a young and energetic boy.

Background: He grew up in the countryside and was a performer since the age of seven, and so, this year marks the twelfth year that he's been performer. His childhood wasn't very nice though, however. Changing between practicing gymnastics. bull fighting, martial arts, and going as far as to dress up as a clown time to time. Because of his childhood, he isn't exactly literate. Yes, he can read and write basic phrases, but anything that goes pass the fifth to sixth grade mark is beyond his understanding and so it is best that he has a parental figure with or near him at the very least.
Despite his innocent looks, Enrique had to run away from his home because he, well… his bull, was wanted for murder. One time, he had forgotten to lock Luca up in his fences and the bull had gotten out and rammed a group of teens until they bled out to death. Instead of putting Luca to rest, like his parents advised him, he decided to run away with the bull until he came across this circus where his dreams were going to potentially come to life. Those teens messed with the wrong bull… it was never Luca’s fault. Nothing was ever Luca’s fault. Nothing.

Other: Enrique is, let’s face it, overprotective of Luca. He will hurt anyone, no matter who they are, if they hurt poor Luca. He will teach them pain, suffering, torture, and pain over again without his smile ever fading from his face. Mess with him (or Luca) and prepare for a horrific sight and experience. You never know why Enrique’s red cloth grows redder everyday. You never know.

For Abel's backstory, a quick TW for blood, stabbing, and just murder in general. I dunno if that's triggering but I'm just bein safe.

Name: Abel Nakamura
Alias/performer name: Virus
Role: Knife Thrower/Danger Acts
Age: 19
Gender and pronouns: Agender, they/he
Personality: Abel is… strange. They usually keep to themselves and don't interact a lot, but they do know how to keep up a conversation. Kind of creepy, knows a lot of concerning things, and has a very deranged laugh. When he gets in the zone, Abel is terrifying. Not somebody you would want to mess with. Their moods change like that, as if somebody just flips a switch within him. Either takes things incredibly seriously or just laughs them off. No in between. Likes to cause trouble.
Appearance: Nakamura has pasty skin, so pale it looks gray and sapphire blue hair. His hair is shaved on the sides and long on top, the long portion usually tied back into a messy ponytail or bun. They have thin, black eyebrows and a pointed nose. One of their eyes is blank and tinged gray, the other one is an icy blue color. Both of their eyes have heavy bags under them and they always look slightly maniacal. They have three piercings in each ear and a wide grin. Their usual attire is very layered with turtlenecks, t-shirts, jackets, leggings, jeans, and boots. They also wear a lot of rings and bracelets. However, they're always wearing a certain jacket. It's an insulated worn denim jacket with patches on the elbows and mismatched buttons all over it. There's a fur collar sloppily sewn onto the neck and always smells like blood, no matter how many times someone might wash it. This jacket is Abel's prized possession and would kill for it. pic 1 pic 2
Background: Abel's mother died when they were 12 while she was wearing the jacket. It was a fairly bloody death so the jacket was soaked in it. Abel had washed the jacket and got all the blood out of it, but it still always smells distinctly of it. His uncle took him in, but their uncle wasn't really in any shape to take care of him (Uncle was actually very kind to Abel, he just wasn't a financially or medically stable man). To make things easier for his uncle, Abel left when they were thirteen and a half. When they were walking down the street, a young man accidentally ran into Abel and ripped the sleeve to their jacket. Abel went feral, stabbing the man eighteen times in front of dozens of people. The police arrived at the scene to find 38 corpses. Over the years, Abel has killed over 55 people. Abel is a wanted serial killer but has always remained undetected.
Other: Can throw knives with pinpoint accuracy and legendary with getaways. They have never been caught.

Name: Rainier (pronounced like the mountain) "Ray" Jason Kennedy
Alias/performer name: Arson
Role: Trapeze/Acrobat
Age: 20
Gender and pronouns: Male, he/him
Personality: Ray is very protective of his sister, and often translates for her (you'll see why in a minute). Does have a, er, slightly unhealthy fascination with fire, but that's okay, right? Tents don't…y'know, burn or anything. Very driven. Can be methodical and plans things very easily. He very much gives off some…questionable vibes, you know? You wouldn't want to leave your kids alone with him because he just gives those vibes of "this is not a safe or sane man". Very much has a dark side. Suffers from PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Would do anything to protect his sister.
Appearance: Ray stands at 5'10", with a slim, lithe, muscular body. He was a gymnast for a number of years, and also trained on aerials, which built the musculature and body shape he has now. He has black hair that parts on the right side, and eyes the color of smoke. He is white, with a tan. Perhaps the most stand-out feature of his is the burn scars that go from his wrists to about his elbows, along with self-harm scars on his upper shoulders. He also has a few other scars scattered around his body. While performing, he often wears kohl ringing his eyes, and usually some sort of sleeves to cover the burns. He isn't self-conscious about them (most of the time), it's only that they're, well…a giveaway. When not performing, will wear often a tank top or short sleeve shirt; if it's hot out, he'll throw a long sleeve shirt (often a button-up) over top. Has a tattoo of a four pointed star between his collarbones. Manacle scars on his wrists and ankles, and a faint one on his throat.
Background: Ray and his sister were raised in foster care from a young age, bouncing from home to home. His gymnastic abilities were something that he was lucky enough to get classes for at each new home, but it was still difficult sometimes. This led to him often practicing in…unconventional ways, often by climbing fences or roofs in order to practice the beam, and other such questionably safe measures. At the age of 12, he and his sister landed in an abusive home, where both were regularly abused by the parents. The foster parents somehow managed to get permission to adopt them, and things got far worse from there. The family, it turned out, was part of a cult, and Lor and Ray were to be the…well, the sacrificial lambs to bear the sins of the family.

They locked and barred the doors, and then used gasoline siphoned from the cars and the grill to douse as much of the house as possible. Then they lit it up and watched it burn, along with their entire adoptive family. They've been on the run from the law ever since.
Other: He and his sister are…probably criminally insane and really need therapy.

Name: Loren "Lor" Gwyneth Kennedy
Alias/performer name: Pyro
Role: Fire breather/Acrobat
Age: 20
Gender and pronouns: Female, she/her
Personality: Lor is mute, and doesn't speak to people unless they can understand sign language, or if she takes the time to write it down. She therefore often comes across as mysterious. Like her brother, she suffers from depression, PTSD, and anxiety. Her PTSD often manifests in the form of touch, and she doesn't usually let people other than Ray touch her. If you try to startle her she will punch you, no questions asked or hesitation beforehand. Doesn't matter who you are. She will punch you. Will do anything to protect her brother.
Appearance: Lor is 5'6", with a rectangular body shape covered in a layer of slim muscle, similar to her brother. She has long black hair that's shaved in the back, and blue-grey eyes. She has a four pointed star tattooed between her collarbones. Like her brother, she bears various scars on her body, including one on her abdomen. She is quite good at make-up, and often wears it during her performances. Her ears are pierced, and she also has a nose piercing, along with a tongue piercing.
Background: (as much of her background is the same as Ray's, I'm not going to go into the same description all over again, just add some stuff pertinent to her.) Like Ray, she enjoyed gymnastics, and often practiced it with him in a similar manner. In their adoptive family, she was abused just as much as he was, though she wasn't chained up in the basement with the same regularity that he was.

She took great pleasure in listening to them scream as they died.

Name: Peppermint Charlotte
Alias/performer name: Peppermint
Role: Tightrope walker and fire acts
Age: 7
Gender and pronouns: Female, she/her
Personality: Despite her age, Peppermint is quite an antagonizing character. Most people who meet her will describe her as bratty, petty and very stuck-up. She loves candy, and is surprisingly food-motivated. She’s never been known to have a soft side, but can seem sweet and kind when she wants to manipulate someone.
Appearance: Peppermint is small and dainty, with pale skin, a round nose and rosy cheeks. Her eyes are a pastel pink and her hair is white with swirls of pink, usually in a bob cut with two pink buns. When performing, she wears big dresses, always fitting the pink-and-white motif. She carries a fireproof, white and pink parasol with a lighter in the tip.
Background: She’s been with the circus for a few months since she burned down her family’s mansion and went on the run, occasionally committing more arson. Because of her distinct appearance, the authorities have a detailed description of her, causing her to join the circus. To avoid suspicion, she poses as a parody of herself.
