With only one eye visible, it was hard to tell how Jan was feeling, seeing as he wore the bandana, and eyepatch over the other eye.
“It matters,” he started, taking a few steps closer, “because she’s with me. In my gang.” His voice went low, almost icily cold at the last point. While he had no clue who the woman was, Jan was most definitely involved with a gang. On good terms of course. He hadn’t spoken to them for a while since he went off the radar, but for Jan, it was surprisingly easy to contact them.
And besides, Jan just needed to get this person out of this situation right now. Anything dealing with gangs was generally interesting territory to walk on. He was unsure if this woman was involved with any gangs or not, but generally, you didn’t want to start crap with a gang.
He listened to her speak, while also observing the group and his surroundings. He stayed where he was for now.
The leader scowled. "Your gang? Ha!" He snorted. "I think not. Little Red here doesn't work with anyone." He nodded his head at his men, and her bag was jerked from her hands.
"Give that back!" Fray screamed, struggling harder than ever.
"You see," he continued, "this little shit here hacked into the company and locked us out of everything…" He glared at her. "She don't work with anyone. I know this because that's what the reports say, and the reports never lie."
“She may not work with us, but she is affiliated with us. Do you think I care about your company? Honestly, you should’ve been backing it up somewhere else.” His arms dropped to his sides. “Kind of a stupid situation that could’ve been prevented in my opinion.”
“Oh,” he looks as if he’s grabbing something. “Reports do lie sometimes. I’ve experienced it, unfortunately.” He pauses.
Quick as the wind, he draws a pistol out and aims it at the leader. He makes no plans to shoot - but he keeps his hand steady, finger on the trigger. “Now, quite frankly - I’d recommend you do give her over to me. I grow bored, and I’d rather get this over with as soon as possible.”
The three other men with Fray pulled out their guns, as well. Which meant that no one was holding her. She kicked one of them in the kneecap and he fell, then stole his gun. She held it, pointing it at the leader, her handcuffs jingling.
"Unlock me. Now."
Jan stiffened, but made sure he was in a position in which he could flee or find cover if needed. He held his ground however.
Still keeping the gun aimed at the leader, he glanced at the three other men with weaponry. “Release her.” He spoke, loud and clear.
(Sorry 'bout not responding right away!)
The other men were in confusion. If they waited, or shot her, the other stranger would shoot their leader. But if they let her go, they would be in trouble for letting a high-level security threat loose. They looked at their leader, who was red in the face.
"Don't let her go!" He screamed.
Fray scowled, and shot the man in the foot. He fell, grasping his foot in pain, and the other man cocked their gun to shoot her. She ducked and shot the three of them neatly in the arm. She dropped the gun and moved over to the leader, taking the key and somehow managing to navigate it to unlock her wrists. She picked all four of their guns, grabbed her bag, and turned to the guy who helped her.
"Thanks, I guess."
(It’s fine!)
Jan watched from his spot. He definitely played a part in what had happened, from what he could tell. It was still hard to tell his reaction from all of this - with only his right eye visible. He just stays still and silent, before putting away his handgun. He only seemed to acknowledge her words with a slight nod.
Jan seemed to be thinking things over. Then, without a word, Jan turns away and moves off. He’s done his work - nothing else matters besides getting back home. This was definitely something unusual for Jan to do, to step out like that and do something so bold.
Jan would rather be getting home soon.
With a snort and an eye roll, Fray pulled her hair into a messy ponytail and walked in the opposite direction of the guy.
Well, that was rude, she thought, annoyed. At least she had thanked him. Why had she helped him, anyway? And what gang was he talking about? She shrugged. She'd have to find a place to lie low for a while, as her home was compromised.
Jan only spares a glance at her before he’s on his way. He’s not really moving very fast, either. More at an even pace. Mostly because of the headache he’s just got on the left side of his face - he’ll just have to remember to take something whenever he gets back. He falters slightly as he walks, but picks himself back up to pace as if nothing happened.
He lives in the quieter side of town, which he appreciates. Alone, though he could certainly have a second person there; he doesn’t really know anybody who would want to stay with him. Nor does he have any plans for people to stay there.
His thoughts still drift back to that woman and what she was about - the details that the other men had spoken of. But it was just another day, and Jan..Jan didn’t want anything to do with it. Even if he was a little bit - dare I say it, curious.
(What do we want to do now?)
(I mean, you could have your character follow mine, as he’s not in that much of a hurry. Or I could try and figure something out. Like maybe he won’t be heading straight home after all. Not sure.)
(Hmm… maybe they could bump into each other again? Maybe when he's doing something with his 'gang,' or whatever?)
(He isn’t really in contact with his gang that much, he sort of split apart from them. But I can try to think of some way that they bump into each other again.)
(Okay. Well, thanks! Sorry, my mind is kind of blank right now.)
(Do we still want to do this, or give it up for dead?)
(I can’t think of anything, so I would say the latter.)
(Alright :( I can try to respond, but… yeah. Okay. Oh well.)
