“Thank you? Is that a compliment?” He ruffled Beckett’s hair and kissed his forehead.
“Thank you? Is that a compliment?” He ruffled Beckett’s hair and kissed his forehead.
“Definitely. I overheat way too easy,” he mumbled. “Besides, it’s common knowledge that the coziest places are the perfect mix of warm and chilly. That’s you.”
“Alright then.” He snuggled closer, happy that Beckett was comfortable.
Beckett sighed contently, resting his cheek against Simon’s shoulder. Zelda settled at their feet, and Beckett couldn’t help but smile at how perfect everything seemed. Strange and unpredicted, but good.
“Hi, kitten,” Simon said with a slight smile. “Are you jealous?”
“Probably,” Beckett hummed. “Both of her favorite people are ignoring her. She got dinner though and she’s comfy, so she can’t be too mad.”
“Or maybe she’s ruminating. Thinking about her next move as the mafia boss.”
“Mm, maybe she is. We fools would never know the difference,” he mused, taking Simon’s hand in his once again.
“You have nice hands. You could play piano,” Simon said idly, watching Beckett’s face.
“Really? I’d never thought of it.” He looked down at his hand where it was twined into Simon’s, making a sort of contemplative noise. “You know, you give amazing compliments.”
Simon laughed, nudging Beckett. “I don’t even know what that means. That makes no sense. Jesus, Beck.”
“What? I’ve never thought about playing piano, how is that confusing?” He laughed along with Simon, looking up at him with mild confusion of his own.
“You’re just silly. I just like you and find you amusing.” Simon grinned, tugging on Becke hand.
“Awh, that’s- that’s so sweet. You’re so sweet.” He chuckled, pressing his lips to the back of Simon’s hand affectionately. It was somewhat amusing to see a dark and brooding 6’1 ghost be so affectionate with him, but Beckett’s own affections for him were likely just as amusing.
“No, I am not. I am bitter and obnoxious,” Simon said. “I’m just luring you in and then I’m going to make sarcastic comments all the time, but you’ll be so in love with me that you’ll just put up with it.”
"As if you don't already," Beckett hummed in response. "…But if this is the trap you're luring me into, I don't think I mind." He gave a small squeeze to Simon's hand to accentuate.
“That’s the trick. You’re already falling under my spell,” Simon said, wrinkling his nose and wiggling his fingers at Beckett.
Beckett chuckled softly, though it was accompanied by a small, friendly scoff. "You're right. This is miserable." His voice was muffled, his face pressed into Simon's neck.
"Perfectly horrible," Simon responded, wrapping his arms around Beckett. "You're very snuggly."
“Mm. So are you.” Beckett bit his tongue, refraining from making another feline joke about him. He sighed heavily. “I could fall asleep like this y’know. This is nice.”
"I won't object to it," Simon said with a smile. "As long as you don't start calling me your teddy bear or anything."
”Right. What would you prefer, then?” His tone was lighthearted, half-joking. Beckett had only been in a few relationships in the span of his lifetime, and while cute nicknames didn’t come too naturally to him- he always got anxious about whether or not the other person would like them, and then scared himself into not using any- he did think that a select few were undeniably cute.
“Hm. You can call me your hot boyfriend. Or sexy,” Simon said. “Take your pick.”
"Pfft-" Beckett chuckled, fidgeting slightly. Boyfriend. He didn't disagree with the label of course, but it was new to have it said aloud. Almost exhilarating. "Right, I think I'll be sticking with Si, then."
"Oh, dear. I shouldn't have said that. You're all squirmy now." Simon loosened his arms. "I was kidding."
