“I mean, if- if you don’t know what to say, you could always go for a kiss instead.” Beckett shrugged nonchalantly, looking back over to the TV in an attempt to play it cool. It obviously did not work.
“I mean, if- if you don’t know what to say, you could always go for a kiss instead.” Beckett shrugged nonchalantly, looking back over to the TV in an attempt to play it cool. It obviously did not work.
Simon said, “You don’t have to act all cool every time you ask for a kiss. We’ve already established that I’m the cool one.” He leaned forward and gave Beckett a light kiss.
Beckett smiled sheepishly, looking back and forth between Simon and the TV. “Well it worked, didn’t it?”
"I guess it did," he said. "In any case, you owe me head scratches." He took Beckett's hand and placed it on top of his head.
“Sounds fair.” With a delighted grin, Beckett complied. He gently tugged Simon closer and began running his fingers through his surprisingly soft hair, hesitantly pressing a kiss to his forehead after a moment as well.
Simon began making a low purring sound, arching into Beckett’s touch. He laid himself across Beckett’s lap, crossing his arms under his head.
Beckett chuckled softly, continuing to run his hands through his hair. “Catboy,” he murmured, half to himself and half to Simon.
“Hey!” Simon elbowed Beckett in the stomach. “I am not a cat.”
Beckett instinctively hunched forward with a small ‘oof’ noise. “Si, you’re laying in my lap, almost purring, while I pet your head. I say this lovingly, but you’re a catboy.”
Simon rolled over and said, “Rawr,” making claws with his hands. “Happy now?”
“I mean cats meow but yes, that was cute.” Leaning down slightly, Beckett pressed another soft kiss to his forehead, smiling.
“Rrrrrow,” Simon said in response, yanking Beckett’s hand back to scratch his head.
Beckett laughed, happily continuing to comb his fingers through Simon’s hair. “My pretty little catboy,” he hummed with a smile.
Simon scowled. “I am not yours. Nor am I little.” He pulled his sleeves down over his hands.
“…Okay, well. Pretty catboy.” He continued scratching his fingers over Simon’s scalp lightly, the show in the background essentially forgotten.
"You know, under normal circumstances, I would carve out someone's lungs for calling me a catboy. Lucky for you, I like you, so you get to keep your lungs." Simon looked up at Beckett, his eyes glittering.
"Aw. That's sweet," Beckett hummed, entirely unphased. He met Simon's gaze after a moment, smiling sweetly down at him. "I like you too," he declared. "And you being a catboy is only part of it."
"Only part of it? And here I thought it was all of it," Simon remarked archly. "If you make me wear cat ears, however, I will make your life a living hell."
"I won't make you. I doubt I could. There might come a day where I ask politely, though." Beckett just shrugged, continuing to card his fingers through Simon's hair as he spoke. "Now that you mention it, actually, I think that would be quite cute," he teased with a chuckle.
"No, no. Absolutely not. Cat ears are the line that will not be crossed." He screwed up his face and scowled at Beckett.
"All right, all right. Just…" He shifted his hands slightly, spiking Simon's hair up a bit in a way that vaguely resembled cat ears. "Cute," he hummed, grinning.
"No! It is not cute," Simon said, ruffling his hair up so stuck up like hedgehog spikes. "No cat ears. I am not a cat."
"Okay, okay, I get it. Big strong scary man. Absolutely not cute." Beckett held his hands up in a mock surrender before continuing to run them through Simon's hair absentmindedly.
"I don't know about strong, but scary is good." He frowned. "I'm not particularly big either. My mom made me drink Pediasure until I was eighteen."
Beckett blinked a few times in surprise. "Oh," he said after a moment, processing. "Um, was everything… okay?" He asked delicately. He'd specifically avoided asking about Simon's past before, assuming that since he appeared to be around Beckett's age, that he had died relatively young. Beckett had assumed anything about his past to be a sensitive topic.
