"Why are you apologizing? I think it's endearing," Simon said, sitting on the couch backward and laying so his legs stuck straight up and his head hung off the edge.
"Why are you apologizing? I think it's endearing," Simon said, sitting on the couch backward and laying so his legs stuck straight up and his head hung off the edge.
"I mean for all of… that." He glanced down at Simon, amusedly watching him settle into the unusual position.
"Why would you apologize? I don't apologize for being sarcastic," he said.
"I mean, I- uhm." Beckett felt that he'd accidentally ruined the moment, but he wasn't about to say that. "Nevermind," he said after a moment. "Forgot what I was going to say," he said with a chuckle.
"If you say so," Simon said, tilting his head to look at Beckett, an amused smile on his face.
Beckett's brow furrowed. "What's that look for?" He nudged Simon's thigh with his foot, giving him an accusatory look.
Simon laughed. "I just like you, is all. Is that okay with you?" he said, nudging Beckett back.
Beckett smiled softly, as much as he tried to fight it. "Well- I- …You were making a face!"
"Yeah? So what? It was a face of affection," he said grandly, crossing his arms.
Beckett stuck out his tongue. "You know what I mean, you little crap." His tone was light, making it clear that he was just messing around.
"I like to look at you," he said. "Is that so bad?" He mimicked Beckett, sticking his tongue out as well.
Beckett had half a mind to push him off the couch to make a point. He didn't know what point, just a point. "Well- I- You were looking at me weird, that's all."
Simon wrinkled his nose. "You're weird," he said candidly. "Doesn't stop me from liking you."
“You better like me. You’re stuck with me regardless.” Beckett scooted closer, grabbing Simon’s hand. “You’re gonna fall off the couch.”
“I’m not going to fall off the couch,” Simon said. “The only reason I would fall off the couch is if you were to push me.”
"Don't tempt me," Beckett hummed. Feeling awkward maintaining eye contact while doing nothing else, he fiddled with Simon's hand, looking down at it with mild interest.
“Consider yourself tempted,” Simon responded, a sly grin on his face. “I doubt you have it in you.”
Beckett hummed softly in consideration. "Mhm. And what if I do?" He looked back over at Simon and raised an eyebrow.
“I can just make your hand go straight through me,” Simon countered, stretching his arms past his head.
Beckett huffed softly. "You're no fun," he mumbled with a smile, crossing his arms and instead sneakily attempting to shove Simon off the couch with his foot.
"Says the one who was kissing me seven minutes ago," Simon said, pulling himself up to sit normally on the couch. He poked Beckett's side. "Don't even try that. I'll judo-flip you onto the floor."
Beckett really, really wished he wasn't as easy to read as he was. Especially at these moments. Because as unpleasant as he was sure that would be at first, the end result was ultimately Simon on top of him, which he absolutely would not complain about. "Do it then," he said, sticking his tongue out again.
Simon grinned, blowing his hair out of his face. "You just want to kiss me again," he sang, sitting on his heels.
"Look, it's not my fault that I don't take you tackling me onto the floor as a threat." Beckett sighed with a soft smirk. "I'm only human."
"At least you admit it," Simon said, only half-joking. "Honesty is the best policy."
