Aster laughed at that.
Trippin'Fentanyl: yeah? do you go to college or work? I would think that maybe you could talk to some people there, make friends and go out or something. she suggested.
Aster was the opposite. She went out a lot and tried to find something to do, she would literally go crazy if she had to stay in the house the whole day.
College? Work? She wasn't about to do either of those things anytime soon!
LesSinglePringle: i mean, i don't exactly want to be social.
LesSinglePringle: so its a no for both of em
It was true though. It would be nice to have someone to lean on, to support her, but other than that, she didn't really want or need any friends. I mean, friends support you, but Lily wanted someone who would stay with her for life.
Trippin'Fentanyl: oh? quite a predicament you have there
She typed out, only teasing of course.
Trippin'Fentanyl: seems like you could use a little adventure here and there
Trippin'Fentanyl: but i don't really understand-
Trippin'Fentanyl: why don't you want to be social? Do you not like people?
Aster seemed a little confused, she had never met someone like Alyssa, all her family was composed of extroverts- people who weren't afraid to intimidate others. Is was wack in her opinion. How did someone go on living for a long time without talking to someone else??
Lily paused. What should she write? Should she tell the truth, and explain her family life? Or lie? It was complicated… That was it! That was the word she could use, it was true, her life was complicated.
LesSinglePringle: it's… complicated
Aster's eyes softened at the response. She could only think of the worst because she was wired like that- she knew what it was like to be in complicated situations. Her family being one of them.
Trippin'Fentanyl: ah, i see
Aster thought for a bit. What else should she say? She was out of things to talk about.
LesSinglePringle: yea
After a couple minutes of neither of them saying anything, Lily broke the awkward silence that had ensued.
LesSinglePringle: wanna vc?
Aster nearly flinched at the words. Now? She thought. She panicked. She didn't look good right now! She was on her bed in the clothes she had used to run her errand, she hadn't taken a shower for crying out loud!
Trippin'Fentanyl: oh
Trippin'Fentanyl: uh
Trippin'Fentanyl: absolutely..!
As soon as Aster was done typing she ran from her bed to the bathroom, she needed to make herself presentable in the next few little seconds she had left.
(sorry for not responding for two days straight, had a dilemma with myself)
(oh that's fine; life gets in the way. i'm not expecting you to be available all the time)
LesSinglePringle: You okay?
Lily was typing in better English, with the proper capitalization now that she'd eaten. Earlier, she'd heated up a cup of noodles and ate it while conversing with Ash.
LesSinglePringle: Take your time, I don't want to rush you.
(thanks)
It took a few minutes before Aster replied.
Trippin'Fentanyl: yeah! totally! i'm okay-
Trippin'Fentanyl: you just caught me off guard with your suggestion, not that it's a bad thing! I just wasn't ready ahaha
Trippin'Fentanyl: just give me a few seconds to get ready since i look like absolute garbage right now
(np, i totally get that)
Lily scanned Aster's messages and had an internal freak-out. It set off a trail of thoughts, like "Oh god, do I look good? What about clothes? My hair?"
LesSinglePringle: Uh yeah
LesSinglePringle: dw, so do i
And with that she rushed to change her clothes and do her hair up.
It took Aster ten minutes to make herself look somewhat decent. She was slightly spooked that if she took longer than that, Alyssa would lose interest in the video chat.
Trippin'Fentanyl: okay! I think i look okay now
Aster laughed a little at the last message Alyssa had sent.
Trippin'Fentanyl: i doubt you look like garbage, you probably look a lot better than me
LesSinglePringle: hah not likely
But nevertheless, Lily had changed into a knee-length yellow dress and her hair up. (In this fashion, but without the braided aspect of the design.) And soon enough, true to her words, a box appeared on Aster's screen, asking her to confirm the video call request that was incoming.
"Oh god-" Aster muttered to herself as she saw the box appear on her screen. For some odd reason she was more nervous than she had expected. This usually didn't happen to her, in fact she would be eager to talk to someone, but maybe today she was self conscious of how she looked. She struggled with that a lot.
Aster clicked the accept button and waited for the screen to load. She expected the connection to be poor and the video to be laggy, but to her surprise it was crystal clear- that only added to her self conscious thoughts.
"Oh uhh,,, hey!" She suddenly said as she realized that she had been staring into the screen without saying anything for a few seconds.
(Oooo i lik !)
(Ye, thanks!)
Soon, the "Waiting for the call to be accepted" text disappeared and Aster's face appeared on the screen. "I, uh, hello! How are you?"
"sorry! oh my god i must have sounded so dumb-" she muttered the last part to her self quietly. "I'm fine!" she smiled warmly, on the verge of laughing from all the excitement she felt, sure she was nervous but her animated nature kept her going forward- not letting her dwell too much on what could possibly go wrong.
"I'm okay" she repeated, a bit calmer this time. "How about yourself my lovely?~" she joked, throwing in the last word as an afterthought, not knowing if the other was comfortable with it.
(no problemo- !)
Lily laughed nervously. "I'm doing okay myself…" she trailed off not knowing what to say. "And don't apologize, it's fine aha," maybe she should stop doing all these actions she usually did when she was nervous. she needed some better control over her own body. No more nervous laughs, biting her lip… man this was gonna be hard.
"That's great!" Aster slowed down, but her smile was still there. She noticed the tension surrounding the girl. "And hey! no need to hold yourself back when talking to me, I can pretty much take anything you throw at me, so have at it" she offered. Internally, Aster was freaking out on how adorable the other was. "But hey, on another note, you're really cute, you must have a boyfriend yeah?" she asked, too anxious to ask to hold back anymore.
"Um… I'm not into guys…" Lily bit her lip, relaxing as Ash let her do her nervous actions. "But hey, on a side note, your voice is really cute!"
not into guys.. it took Aster a second to process the information. "oh!" her eyes lit up. "Really?! That's great!" She said laughing. Aster blushed slightly at her compliment. "ahaha glad you think so, my brothers tell me i'm annoying as all hell" she mused.
"Oh, that's probably because you're related to them. All siblings think the other is annoying," Lily laughed. "So, uh, did you want to talk about anything in particular?"
Aster smiled lazily at her comment on her brothers, propping her head on her hand. "Yeah, i suppose that's true, they're all assholes, no kidding," she said laughing. She blinked at her question. "Oh, well…umm i think i'll have to think about that.." she said slowly.
There was awkward silence for the next few seconds, it made Aster frustrated. Then her eyes lit up. "Oh yeah!" she suddenly jumped and held up her arm, which her snake hadn't moved from. "This is Leviathan- even though i call him smokey sometimes" She said, looking at the snake with a huge grin as it lifted its head to level Aster's face.
"Oh, what a… big snake," Lily gave a nervous laugh. Though she didn't admit it, she didn't like snakes much. They creeped her out.
Aster nodded, still smiling. She put her arm down and stared at Alyssa. "So i take it, you said you didn't have any pets- but like…if you were to get one which would you choose? Maybe a dog?" She questioned outloud, it sounded more like something she was thinking of.
"I don't know, I just want a lifelong companion," Lily hadn't really thought of that.
Aster smiled at that then closed her eyes. "I can be that lifelong companion~" she teased, a cheeky grin on her face.
