King's eyes were tinged slightly red and there were clear tear tracks down his cheeks. He used his other hand to wipe his face trying to remove the evidence, putting on a brave face so Colby wouldn't… Oh, who was he kidding he had already been caught. There was no point in trying to hide away if he had been found. Instead, he leaned into Colby before murmuring, "Not really. I, This week has just been a mess with all the villains and whatnot." There was no need to worry Colby any more than usual. He didn't need to know about his mom, not yet at least.
Colby tucks King into his side, playing with his hair gently. He didn't know what was happening at the moment, so he was currently focused on helping his beloved how he could. He pressed a kiss to the others forehead and smiled. "Are you sure that's it?" He asks softly, guessing there was probably more on the others mind. He kept King close, keeping away the chill in the air.
King bit his lip as he felt tears well up again. He really didn't want to tell Colby, the other had enough on his plate already. And, and King didn't want to be a burden anymore than he already was. He nods ever so slightly at Colby's question feeling his throat close up and be unable to answer, "Yeah. Just that." Not the fact that his mom had cancer, again. The fact that she was probably going to die this time since it was caught so late along. The fact that right now everything felt like it was falling apart.
Colby didn't really believe that, but he just sat there beside the other. He decided not to push anymore, figuring that might hurt King more and he didn't want to do that. He pressed a gentle kiss to the top of King's head, playing with his hair. "Is there anything I can do, love?" He asks quietly, turning a little so that he could face King a bit better, see his beautiful eyes and hopefully comfort him a little bit. He didn't want to hurt the person he was so fond of.
King melted into his touch as he let his eyes close for a second. He opened them back up to see Colby looking at him and he hummed ever so slightly. He, he was grateful that Colby wasn't pushing any further about the subject. King would tell Colby in his own time, it just involved digging up a lot of his past that he wasn't ready to face yet. Looking at current day King, you would never think he would have done some of the things he has done, "Stay with me? Please?"
Colby offered a gentle smile when King melted into his touch, his thumb gently skimming along King's cheeks. He hummed softly as he carefully inspected the others expression, wanting to make sure he was there for his beloved. "Of course, I'll always stay with you." He once again pulled the other into his arms rocking them back and forth, pressing closer. "I've got you, understand? I'll be by your side, no matter what… my little hero."
King let himself be held for a few moments before wrapping his arms around Colby. He felt tears well up and start to overflow once more as he buried his head against Colby. he whispered out hoarsely, "Thank you. That, that means more than you know." Constants were rare with King. And often those who were supposed to be there for him, ended up leaving him in the end. Colby, Colby saying that gave King both hope and dread for what was to come.
Colby gently ran his hand through the others hair, his eyes softening even more. "Of course, King." He murmured softly. He wished he could be a constant in King's life. A rock in a storm. Something to keep him safe and loved. "I'll always be here for you." He whispered quietly, pressing another kiss to the top of King's head. He wondered what might be happening that was stressing King out so much, what made his heart ache and those tears leave his eyes. "I've got you."
King sobbed slightly at his words. His entire body weight was now solely being kept upright by Colby. He couldn't even formulate a response through the sobs now freely falling from lips. He didn't really deserve this, did he? Someone who was so willing to just sit there without prying further, but damn he was lucky that he had it now. King swore he wasn't going to let Colby go, and also probably tell Colby about his past at a later date. Not now, he was too busy crying for that.
Colby made sure to never loosen his grip on the other, pressing a soft kiss to the top of King's head. "I've got you…" He whispered softly, rocking King back and forth in his arms. He whispered soft words of affection and assurance, just trying his hardest to be there for King. He wasn't going to pry, he knew how painful it could be for someone to pry, rather than just be there for them. He ran his hand through Kings hair, and kept him close. "I've got you." He promised quietly. "I'm right here. Let it all out."
King continued to sob in Colby's arms his sobs only increasing with every reassurance. His grip on Colby's shit was tight until after a few minutes it finally relaxed as King started to get tired from all the crying he had done. He didn't dare lean back basking in every moment Colby was holding him close. King eventually managed to say his voice hoarse and rough, "Th-Thank you. Thank you for everything. I love you, Colby."
Colby rocked him back and forth as he sobbed, never letting go in the slightest. When King started to calm down a little bit, he pressed a soft kiss to the others shoulder. "Of course." He murmured softly. "I've got you, it's okay." He assured softly. "There's no need to thank me. I love you too, my darling King." He hummed quietly in thought, his eyes scanning over the horizon. His hand continued to play with King's hair, his arms wrapped firmly around King in assurance.
"There, there is so many reasons to thank you," King protested before he yawned slightly. He rested his head into the crook of Colby's neck. He had been out on patrol into the early morning last night and then the phone call, and now his breakdown. It was all catching up to King in this moment and he felt safe in the arms of his lover. Safe enough that his eyes closed and he felt his breathing even out slowly.
He paused at that but smiled a little and pressed a kiss to the top of his head. "I love you so, my darling King…" He murmured softly. He rocked King back and forth gently as they say on the roof. He knew he should get back out there. Help King with what he could. But Pax needed him now more than ever… Pax had started a new treatment and it seemed like it was working… Or at least he hoped it was working.
King felt his consciousness slip away from him as he was rocked back and forth. He didn't blame Colby for anything, or for not being able to help him out with his patrols. Hell, he would even encourage Colby to take his time to return, Pax needed Colby right now, King can deal with his problems on his own. Though… He didn't mind the attention right now.
