Renata stares at Dustin, confused.
"What did they say about me?" she asks. She couldn't see any other reason why he'd be acting like this, unless he knew about the one life she had taken, when she was younger.
Renata stares at Dustin, confused.
"What did they say about me?" she asks. She couldn't see any other reason why he'd be acting like this, unless he knew about the one life she had taken, when she was younger.
Dustin just looks at her, tilting his head slightly, and then whispers softly, “They’re watching. . .” He looks at her, “They’re watching me, I can’t- I can’t not do what they want. . . Unless you want me to get kicked out. . ..”
Renata looks sad.
"I- I'm sorry." she murmurs. "I was unfair, wasn't I."
She shakes her head slightly. "Who else is here?"
Dustin shakes his head, grinning at her, “You could pretend to beat my ass-“
Renata rolls her eyes.
"I'm not good at acting. The one theatre class I took, I nearly burned down the theatre department and broke the set manager's nose because she was being a cunt the night of the show." she replies.
Dustin laughs, “Still, if we pretend I beat you, you’ll have to stop doing this./“ He motions to the area around them, “So try, sweetheart.”
Renata hroans.
"Ugh. Bastard." she mutters, grabbing a pillar of granite and launching it at Dustin, making sure it flew arrow straight, way to the left of Dustin.
Frowns at her, “Dude, that did not look real, at all. Come on.” He grins at her.
"What, you want it to be like this?" Renata grumbles, casually dislodging one of the spikes she'd placed and making it whistle right by Dustin's ear, barely missing it.
Dustin keep laughing, “Come on, you gotta make it look real, darling.” He moves out of the way, grinning at her. He was clearly having fun.
Renata grumbles and opens a sinkhole directly under Dustin, lining it with rows and rows of iron spikes.
"That real enough for you?" she calls out as the spikes start to spin in rows.
Dustin waves his hand, the spikes melting into goo and then solidifying beneath him, holding him up, “Maybe.”
Renata rolls her eyes, starting a barrage of granite pillars at Dustin, making sure that Dustin could kinda dodge but still making it seem like she was trying to disable him.
Dustin yelps, dodging and glaring at her. There was nothing untoward in the glare, simply put, he was only glaring for show.
Renata starts getting itno the act, actually pulling out some of her proper moves.
She lifts a bunch of loose gravel up and compacts it into a solid ball of rock. She kicks it towards Dustin, following it up with raising two walls of rock and basically force-palming them out into little rock fragments, like a shotgun shot.
Dustin moves back a few steps, raising a wall to block the in coming attacks, panting slightly. He could already feel light headed.
Renata notes how sluggish the wall raise had been and slows her attacks like she normally would against anyone else, trying especially hard not to hurt Dustin.
And yet, she could tell she'd failed just by the way the wall cracked at the last of this barrage of attacks.
She immediately ceases and rushes over to Dustin.
One of the stone fragments had put a shallow gash into his cheek.
That was now starting to bleed.
"Shit, shit shit shit shit. . ." Renata mumbles, panicked.
Dustin covers his cheek, biting his lip, "I-I'll be fine. . . I took my meds today. . ." He looks at her, and his expression belied his words. Dustin was panicing.
Renata looks as panicked as her breathing was starting to sound. "That's how you die. We're going to a hospital."
She picks him up carefully and then starts on a dead sprint, the adrenaline flowing through her replenishing the stamina she'd used up during the course of her project, allowing her to outpace a lot of the cars that were on the road.
Dustin grips onto her, feeling lightheaded.
Renata reaches the closest hospital in 6-ish minutes. She looks down at Dustin and notes that, as she knew would be the case, he hasn't stopped bleeding.
She slows to a jog and pretty much kicks the front doors off their hinges, then looks at the lady at the front counter menacingly.
"Hemophilia. Cut won't close. Needs medical help right now, and despite my 'no harm' policy with my powers, I swear to fucking god if you idnorre me I will bury you alive if you don't contact someone." she growls.
The desk lady rushes to comply, and a couple minutes later a doctor comes to try and take Dustin from Renata.
She snarls like a cornered animal and tells him to just lead the way.
He, too, complies.
Dustin looks at her, "Ren. . . Calm. . . Down. . ." He squirms, trying to get onto his own two feet.
Renata stays silent. She looked. . . pissed. Not at Dustin, no. At herself for not being careful. She doesn't notice the way he was squirming, though. Kinda hard to, when you're as massive and strong as her.
When the doctor finds an empty exam room, Renata sets Dustin down on the bed thing and then turns and starts to walk away.
Dustin reaches out to her, "Ren. I'll be fine. . . Stay. . ."
Ren leans away from the touch. It would probaby be clear enough what was going on now: she was punishing herself for hurting Dust. He probably wouldn't know the exact reasons why, but some were obvious enough, such as her refusal to bring real harm to others with her powers.
Her expression revealed another reason. She was angry at herself - as mentioned earlier - and scared.
Basically? A minor overreaction in anyone else's eyes, and a criminal offense in Renata's.
So she turns and walks out the door, closing it softly behind her.
The doctor looks bemused.
"Girlfriend troubles?" he asks casually, starting to examine the wound with interest and care before he sobers up.
"Are you allergic to anything, as far as you know? Medicine and vaccine wise, that is." he inquires.
