A master thief without a name and master spy without a past walk into a bar in the far reaches of the solar system… and both their lives are changed for the good.
They've both come for the same thing: a weapon.
And unlikely as it may be, the two make a good team. Perhaps too good.
Yes this is a romance but also these two are kinda being manipulated so. Dual meanings. Leave me alone.
Rules/Guidelines/Rambles and thoughts I had:
Don't be bigoted.
Don't be a dick in general.
This roleplay will contain disturbing themes and may contain mature (NSFW) content. So I'd prefer to RP with someone 18 or older.
I'd prefer a more experienced writer/roleplayer.
We will develop and expand on the plot together. I have the main plot for now but other things will happen. Why not?
I'd preferrrr to play the spy but I don't have to.
Have fun!
I can post a template or we can just jump in. Your choice. Title is from the song The Bidding by Tally Hall; go listen to it, it has Vibes. Specifically, it's what inspired this RP so. If you want Vibes. Listen. Idk. You don't have to lol.
(Might be interested? Can you give some more details? ^^ I've been writing and rping for a loooong time, and I'm just turning 19, but if you want a writing example, lemme know ^^)
(Nah, you're good! And I was thinking they'd start out at a bar, ask a guy about this mysterious weapon they're both after, and end up through a series of shenanigans working together to get what they want. Also potential fake dating, there-was-only-one-bed-in-the-hotel, and y e a r n i n g because that's my niche. They will both totally get duped in the end, but for now, I'm not gonna spoil much. Then possible Other Plot past that if I can think of anything by then. I didn't think this through too much beyond main events and plot hooks I could use, it's kinda abstract.)
(Anyways do you wanna use a template or just jump in?)
(Ooh, Yeah, I'm vibin. I can totally be the thief, that's no prob! Sorry for the delay, I had to go change the windshield wipers on my car >.< Let's do a template, I'd like to get a grasp of my chara first ^^ Also, anything you'd like me to avoid in a chara?)
(Wait did I wrote spy? I actually meant id prefer to play the thief (I'm sorry adhd brain, messes up words a lot) but if you want to take that role over the other you can! I'm sorry again, I'm being weird today. Also nothing in particular you need to avoid, I'll post the template now!)

(Haha no problem! xD I'm totally good with either, spy works for me! I also struggle with adhd brain, so I get it xD)
Name: Ranir Swamp Soldier
Age: 36 (I can make her younger, but I'll have to adjust her backstory ^^ Let me know!)
Gender/Pronouns: Female, she/her
Orientation: Pansexual/romantic
Appearance: Ranir has short brown hair, a serious expression, and is well muscled. Her skin tone is slightly darker, and her eyes are dark silver, almost black.
Likes: She likes people, even though she's quiet. She's happier with friends around. She loves rose-gold things, and she likes colder weather.
Dislikes: She doesn't like people who try to make assumptions about her, or who put her down for her line of work. She really hates hot weather and climates, and doesn't like card games. They're boring.
Strengths: She's an excellent fighter, and excels with staffs and spears especially. She good at information collection and recollection. She thinks logically and is strongly opinionated.
Weaknesses: Stubborn, probably too much so. Apathetic on a surface level, which can make it hard for people to want to get close enough to her to learn who she really is. She's got some major triggers from past incidences.
Personality Type (Myers-Briggs): ISTP (Part of why this took so long xD I had to go take the test and find out)
Hobbies: She enjoys reading, gardening (though she doesn't like to do that alone), walking, brain games, practicing with her spear.
Perhaps a bit of backstory?: She used to be a soldier for her home country, but once she got married and had a son, she moved to the city with her husband. Her son died at the early age of 7; he'd been training to be a warrior like his parents, and an attack on the training camps killed him. Ranir and her husband were shattered by this, and thought they tried to stick together through it, her husband eventually was driven mad by the grief, selling out his country to another enemy after they promised to resurrect their son. Her kingdom collapsed, her son was not brought back, (it had all been lies, of course), and her husband exiled himself in horror at what he'd done. She fled shortly after, and eventually picked up this spying job.
Other information: She'd be cautious about another relationship, but not opposed. She's found she's much happier with someone at her side. She's let her old partner go, recognizing that trying to deal with her complicated feelings towards him would only bring pain.
(Holy shit she's amazing. I'll make my character, one minute!)
(although this is like in outer space so… some backstory elements don't line up? Sorry.)
Name: their real name is Aces Adair, but it's been two decades since they've used it. Will change their name like they change a shirt, and nobody knows who they really are, they scrubbed their record so well.
Age: (preferably adults) 38
Gender/Pronouns: Nonbinary, assigned male at birth. They/them, and they refer to themself with feminine terminology like "Miss (pseudonym)" or "unladylike" (a bit of a personal joke)
Orientation: Bisexual
Appearance: They're tall, lean, with ochre skin and thin, dark brown eyes with long lashes. They have two scars, on the bridge of their nose and their jaw, and many more on the rest of their body.
Likes: Winning. Secrecy, they hate anyone knowing more than what they tell them and "deducing" things about them.
Dislikes: Openness, not getting what they want, still identifying themselves with a name.
Strengths: Seduction, logic, and the ability to get anywhere the want and be anyone they want. They've picked up quite a few skills over the years, and are very goal oriented. Also their ability to shoot things (that's called marksmanship I think).
Weaknesses: their privacy, and stubbornness. Both a blessing and a curse. Also how they fall in love way too easily.
Personality Type (Myers-Briggs): INTJ
Hobbies: Woodcarving. They don't have many hobbies, they don't have the time for it, but they do like carving little figurines in their spare time
Perhaps a bit of backstory?: No.
Other information: They lost their eyes in a chemical accident and later had them replaced with cybernetic ones, high tech top notch tech made for everything they'd need them for.
(OOOHHHH I LOVE THEM! I think Imma make my gal like a year or two older, since other wise it makes time stuff with her kid kinda crunchy. As for the outer space stuff, she's from a planet that has technology to get to outer space, so she could easily be wherever you need her to be ^^)
(Okay! Could we just edit out the magic bit tho? Thanks! Also, shall we begin?)
(Oh, magic? sorry, where's that? Im happy to make adjustments, just not sure exactly what you're speaking of ^^ And yeah! I'm ready if you are! :D)
(Okay! I'll post in a sec and we can begin!)
(Okii, great! I'll likely have to scoot here, it's getting pretty late for me, but I'll be back tomorrow, if not a little later tonight!)
Aces Adair, also known as Cass Duke to the man who had hired them, walked into the Old Town Bar. Old Town, they hadn't been there in a long time. Long enough for everyone to forget them, certainly.
Cass strolled up to the bartender. "Can you tell me anything about a certain… Duke Grey?" they purred..
" 'E's the deadbeat in the corner, lady. Dunno why you're looking after that ex military freak, but I don't think I like it." she said, nodding to the sleeping man with thinning hair, a sallow complexion, and half his teeth gone.
They nodded, ordered a gin and tonic, and waited for the bar to clear out.
Slowly seats emptied until there were only a few stragglers were left. Ranir watched quietly from her place at the bar, idly back and forthing with one of the barmaids whenever the girl got a spare second. She had no intention of leaving anytime soon, she had a job here.
She scanned to the room to see who was left, who might be a problem. One individual seemed just as dead-set on staying in their seat as she was, and she watched them from the corner of her eye, wondering what they were planning.
"Who's that?" she asked the barmaid, who looked over and shrugged.
"No idea. Haven't seen them around before."
"Alright…well, thanks anyways." Ranir's original plan had involved a timely exit after an organized job, but this person was trigering some alarm bells, and she decided to stay put instead. Better to wait and watch.
Cass frowned. The bar had emptied out after a few hours, save Duke, Cass, and… a very unfamiliar woman. They might as well deal with it.
"What's a lady like you doing in a nasty old bar like this?" they asked, tilting their hat a little.
Ranir had not been expected to be approached. It took her a second to gather her wits, jerking her gaze around from where she'd been watching the world pass outside. She thought she'd been paying better attention to the other person, but she hadn't noticed their attention shift to her at all.
"Drink's good," she said simply. "Conversation isn't bad either." She nodded at the barmaid, who was restocking some shelves nearby.
"Alright, what's your game? You've been watching me since the place cleared out and believe me, darling, it's hardly subtle. If you don't either leave or tell me your game here, I'll have to do something very unladylike and spoil this lovely suit of mine." Cass grinned like a cat who'd caught a pigeon.
Ranir raised an eyebrow, largely unfazed. One did not get her job by being easily rattled. "Goodness, I suppose it's illegal to watch interesting people now, is it? My apologies. Yet your threats seem to point suspicion back at you. What are you doing here that you feel so uncomfortable under a curious gaze?"
"In a place like this I wonder why you'd be so suspicious," they sighed, "but curiosity can't be helped. Who are you working for? What agency? I've heard of them all, dated a few of their agents too. For the information they could give me, of course, and then I robbed them blind. I'll figure it out sooner or later, you know."
"I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about," Ranir said, turning back to her drink. "I work for no agency. Who do you work for that you're so intent on believing me to be some spy or something?"
She had no problem lying through her teeth, she wasn't about to give this person any information. And so far, she wasn't concerned, but she was aware that this could go south in a hurry if she wasn't careful. She'd have to choose her words wisely if she wished to keep her purpose to herself.
"You're lying to me, and badly at that. I already told you, I've played this game before. As for who I work for, it is no one but myself who employs me." they said, convincingly enough for the time being. "I do this for entertainment, ultimately."
