"A- anything I can."

"The books I have here?"

"N- no."

"Then what? I'm just trying to make conversation."

"A- a lot of fiction books like the Mortal Instruments series, the Dark Artifices trilogy, the Percy Jackson books, the Heroes of Olympus series, Magnus Chase, the Kane Chronicles, most of Margaret Peterson Haddix's books. I- I also read some of John Green's books, a couple romance novels, a few thrillers, a whodunnit type mystery novel. . . . and I've also read War and Peace, and other books like that."

Emily looked at the girl with a confused smile "how do you read them? If you don't get them here."

Ashley whimpers, uncomfortable with all the questions.

"Th- the library."

"Wait- you can leave here??"

Awkwardly, Ashley nods.

"Y- yeah."

"That's…interesting. "

Ashley shrugs shyly.

"I- I suppose."

"Whats wrong? "

Ashley shrinks back.

"N- nothing."

Emily looked at the girl confused her head tilting a bit "um…okay then "

Ashley mutters something about "errands" and leaves quickly.

Emily stood there for a moment utterly confused before she walked over to a cabinet and started getting out spices

Ashley reappears silently, watching Emily curiously.

It was almost 5 so Emily was getting everything ready for dinner she grabbed everything shed need from the fridge and brought everything over to the counter to start preping "welcome back. "

Ashley yelps and disappears again.

Please stop. . .

"Please stop talking to the girl the randomly appears in my kitchen? "

Ashley doesn't respond. She didn't want to talk.

"Okay fine you don't want to talk that's fine." Emily started to boil a pot of broth before throwing a few things in there

Ashley flinches back, which Emily can't see.

Emily kept cooking not really paying attention to Ashley
