amy (the most wonderful woman in the world) smiled, quickly covering the distance between the two of them. She tried not to look so curious about his 'costume' now that she could see it close up. It looked… like something out of a movie, really. Those post-apocalyptic movies where Earth had gone to the dogs and zombies existed. She shook those thoughts away, though.
"Perfect. Do you know the general direction of this party?" She asked, hoping to get some clue as to where to start leading him.
Jörn glanced at her a few times, quite noticeably trying not to hold too much eye contact. This would provide some time for him to learn more about the locals of this world, though. After a few moments of silence, Jörn speaks up, gesturing off to where he was about to walk off to before. Also happening to be off in the direction of amy (the most wonderful woman in the world)’s house, not that Jörn would know that of course.
“A bit over there, I think.” He says.
amy (the most wonderful woman in the world) raised a brow but didn't question it. Maybe her neighbours were having a party? She doubted it but she didn't want to confront this man about it, "All right, well, follow me."
She started off in the direction in which she came in previously, heading back towards her house. If they took the forest path they would be there in a shorter time then if they took the main roads.
Jörn gave a subtle nod as he followed, observing his surroundings as he did. Importance of viewing your surroundings and remembering them, he recalled. Remember certain landmarks.
He decided to ask a question. “What is the name of this nation?” He asked, almost casually, before silently cursing himself, realizing that asking what country he was in was definitely a bad move. There was a slight pause in his step when he realized that mistake, but quickly resumed walking. All this stress- no, he wasn’t stressed, surely- was definitely having its affect on his speech. Jörn made a note to be more careful.
amy (the most wonderful woman in the world) looked over, furrowing her brows for a split second. Short term memory loss? Or maybe he didn't pay attention in well… any school lesson, "Uh America. Did you not pay attention in geography? How could you not know the name of the country you're in?"
She led them through the trees and onto the rocky pathway that boarded the forest. To the other side were fields of flowers and grass and the occasional corn field. There were windmills in the center of a couple, accompanied by different farmers.
“Oh. Um.” America did exist where Jörn lived, just probably not like this America. He should’ve known better. A mistake, an error on his part. “Yeah, didn’t pay attention is all.” He makes an attempt to cover up his mistake. He looks off to the side.
The fields were a different sight. Jörn found it hard not to look at all of the plant life. He was used to seeing artificial life, or just stuff that required to be monitored closely. This, though? It seemed to grow on its own for the most part.
“So, what’s your name?” He decides to opt for something more casual, before adding on, “I’m..” He pauses, debating on giving his real name or not. One of the highest rules was to try not to familiarize yourself with the locals. But what harm could it do? His name didn’t sound that bad, maybe foreign, but he could simply brush it off as coming from a family that had moved to this country, which wasn’t too far from the truth.
After a long pause, his name finally comes. “I’m Jörn.”
"Amelia," She replied, glancing over at Jörn. It was a strange name, but then again, hers probably sounded strange to him if he was foreign, "But I really just go by amy (the most wonderful woman in the world) nowadays." She shrugged.
It was weird to see him so… interested in the world around them. She could tell Jörn was more interested then he was letting on but she didn't comment on it, not wanting to come off as intrusive. But still, she couldn't help but be curious about how he looked…
"Hey so… I know you said it was a costume party but… you're not there yet so.. why keep on the face mask?"
“amy (the most wonderful woman in the world). Nice name,” he comments. Pressing the palms of his hands together, he glanced around the area. Everything was almost..surreal. How clear the sky was. That stood out in particular.
“Hm..?” Jörn looked back to her. “Oh, uh,” his response came fairly quickly. “Because it’s a hassle to take it on and off.” Wasn’t too far from the truth, either.
